Kaiser of the New World

After the alarms, sirens and nuclear warnings, Kai wakes up in an empty white room. With no idea what to do, he just waits for anything to happen...hoping something will happen. Only when the voice of...something... breaks him out of the monotonous life of the white room, he realises the problems he will have to face just to survive. Note - First few chapters are slow, monotonous and downright terrible, I mean, just going back and looking at chapter three has me cringing. My writing gets better as the story goes on, but it still has a few info dumps. The first few chapter are the shortest by far, like chapter 30 is the same length as 1, 2 and part of ch 3 combined. Honestly, you can just skim the first five and then maybe read it a little more in depth. Thanks, and please, go easy on the first chapters, I already hate them. Schedule is new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Glimpse of Your Fate

Kai's head went blank as he stared at the only thing that was for sale in the Unique section.

A glimpse of his fate? That was certainly something that Kai was interested in.

There was definitely something going on behind the scenes, from The Ever-changing showing him the way to Ethania's diary to the fact that Kai himself was in one of the murals that was painted thousands of years ago.

And to make it even worse, Kai never even got to find out who painted that mural.

The future is something that everyone in the world is curious about. If they find a lover, where they'll be in ten years time, even how they die, everyone wants to know what's going to happen.

Except for the people who actually know what's going to happen, like the gods who have any sort of future sight ability, they probably wish to forget what they saw.

But Kai didn't have those regrets yet, so he was extremely curious about catching a glimpse of his fate.

The only problem was the price of it.

Glimpse of Your Fate (Divine) - 50% of your points

This was definitely the fairest item in the whole shop. Even if someone only got two points in the tutorial they would still be able to buy this.

However, the same couldn't be said for Kai. If he were to buy this with just his points, that would cost 426336 points. That was more than any of his previous items, even if he combined some of them it was cheaper.

That was why Kai smiled, he had found the perfect item to spend his free item choice on.

Curiously, Kai glanced down at the description of the Divine rarity item.

Due to the generosity offered by Elysia the All-Knowing, you can borrow a fraction of her power to catch a glimpse of your own future. No refunds and no therapy offered afterwards. Due to the nature of the price of this item, this must be purchased before you purchase anything else.

Kai's smile faltered after reading the description. No refunds and no therapy offered? He knew from other stories and stuff that people who saw the future wished to forget what they saw, but was it really that bad?

And there was also the fact that this option in the shop was a byproduct of a Goddess's skill. That was another one to add to the ever growing list, along with The Ever-changing and Eye of The Moon.

Kai was fine with buying this first, he was getting it for free anyway.

Glancing down at the cat shopkeeper, who was currently staring off into the distance as if they were watching something, Kai cleared his throat and said:

"I'm ready to buy things now."

The cat's head turned around as a smile grew on its face, happy it was about to make some money.

"Alright then, what would you like to buy."

Kai pointed to one of the items in the shop before saying.

"First of all, I want to buy the glimpse of my own fate."

The cat's smile grew as it's tail wagged.

"Really? That will cost quite a few points for someone of your calibre. Heehee, guess I'll be getting a bonus this time."

Kai tilted his head innocently as he shook his head, a sly smile growing on his face.

"No, it won't cost me quite a few points, so don't you worry, I'm going to use my free item choice to buy it."

The cat's tail stopped wagging as its smile disappeared.

"Damn it, I forgot that you first placers get that as a reward. Are you sure you don't just want to spend points? You could get an expensive Legendary item with that free choice. I get quite a big bonus if anyone buys the glimpse of their fate. I've been helpful, have I not? Do this for me?"

Kai held back the urge to snicker as he watched the cat bat it's eyes and try to act cute. Maybe if the cat hadn't said it wasn't a cat and just had this form as a way to quietly convince Kai to spend more money then maybe he would have considered it, but he would have only considered it, he wasn't changing his mind.

"Sorry, have to spend my free choice on this, otherwise I can't buy half of the items I want. You get it, you're a shopkeeper after all."

The cat sighed before relenting, getting up off the stool and standing on the rickety wooden stand.

"Fine, you've made your choice, here's your glimpse of fate."

Before he could even react, the cat's tail swung around and struck Kai in the cheek. He stumbled backwards while raising his hand to his cheek, thinking the cat was scamming him.

Then, his head started throbbing as countless images flashed through his mind.

A dungeon, deep snow, a girl with silver hair and blue eyes, a boy with messy black hair and a creepy mask that covered his whole face, a humongous arena with a crowd spanning even further than Kai could see, a beautiful woman with black hair, a woman with strange yellow skin and a red circle on each of her cheeks, a set of wooden armour, a blue shape that resembled feather made of ice, a rat, the soul brew that he previously drank, tears, a hairband made out of a strange blue thread, a horrifying being made of a putrid purple mass that made Kai tremble when he looked at it, a blonde girl with wings, a pale white haired man, Noelle? A piece of paper with strange writing slowly burning.

And at the very end of it all, a single number...

1777.

Kai fell to the ground as his head spun. He felt like throwing up, but his body wouldn't listen to him. The images repeated playing in his head rapidly before they all disappeared, yet the memory remained.

Kai struggled to stand up. He could faintly remember what he saw, but not in detail. He could remember the hair colour of some of the people he saw, but not any of their other features like their face. He remembered some of the environments he saw, but he could only remember a tiny bit of what he actually saw. Everything and nothing made perfect sense and no sense, Kai was completetly lost.

And that number at the end, for some reason it felt as if that number was more significant than all of the other images combined, but Kai couldn't figure out for the life of him why that was. Maybe it was because it was the final image he saw...

Coughing up onto ground, Kai steadied himself and looked at the cat shopkeeper. It's tail was still returning to its normal position after slapping Kai, meaning not that long had actually passed in comparison to how long Kai thought it had even.

"What- what was that?" Kai coughed as he used the weak wooden stand to steady himself, saying a quick prayer that it wouldn't break.

The cat simply shrugged.

"How am I meant to know? Only you and maybe the old lady saw what you saw. All I know is that you saw fragments of what your future holds. If those fragments were in the next ten minutes or a million years from now, both you and I have no idea."

Kai sighed as he raised a hand up, holding his head tenderly. After steadying himself for a few moments, he looked down at the cat and asked:

"Was slapping me with your tail really necessary?"

The cat quickly turned its body, as if to hide a smile.

"Not really, I just had to make contact with you. I just felt as if a slap was the best way to do that."

Kai sighed again, but it's not like there was anything he could do about it. In the fraction of a second where the cat's tail connected with his cheek, Kai could feel that the cat was holding back its power... a lot.

"Well aren't you cute." Kai grumbled. Just as he was about to change the subject, a familiar voice echoed throughout the room.

"Ahem, due to ongoing negotiations, your time in the shop will be extended by ten minutes. Make use of this time to carefully choose what you want to buy."

The angel's voice was gone as quickly as it arrived, but it sounded different. It sounded... strained?

"Tsk, good enough for that bitch."

Kai's eyes widened as he glanced down at the cat. It wasn't him that had said that, and the cat was the only other thing here.

"What do you mean good enough for her? And you don't like her either?"

The cat nodded as it sat back down on the stool.

"She's probably being overwhelmed by people who want to bid on certain participants, so on and so forth. And obviously I don't like her, not many do.

Normally, I give the being who runs the tutorial twenty percent of my profits so they allow me to sell here, but she's charging me fifty percent! Can you believe it?"

The cat then shrugged and glanced up at Kai.

"Why, what did she do to you?"

Kai sighed and shook his head.

"Nothing to me, but she made fun of and basically killed the wife of someone I know and then tried to kill him after he called her insane."

The cat grunted.

"Yeah, sounds like her alright. God complex and all that."

Kai's eyes widened slightly.

"Is she really a god?"

The cat yawned.

"No, she just works for one. Still, she's on the brink of becoming one, I don't think it will be long before she ascends. I'll say a prayer for anyone who has to work under her though."

Kai chuckled softly.

"So will I. Anyway, can I buy the rest of my items?"

The cat froze, then stood up off the stool.

"Oh yeah, I forgot you still had more points. What do you want?"

Kai then selected all of the items he wanted to buy.

Mana Stat Bead (Common) - 2500 points

Mana Stat Bead (Rare) - 30000 points

Sapphire Storage Ring (Rare) - 55000 points

Chrome Skin (Rare) - 65000 points

Mana Vein Enhancement (Epic) - 100000 points

Rare Skill Fusion Bead (Rare) - 100000 points

Epic Weapon Upgrade (Legendary) - 250000 points

Fortified Bodysuit (Epic) - 250000

The cat nodded in approval after looking over everything that Kai wanted to buy.

"A good selection, very versatile. Anyway, since you've made your choice I'll take your points."

Kai watched as the eight hundred and fifty thousand points he possessed started to rapidly drop.

"And I wish you luck with your Mana Vein Enhancement."

Kai frowned slightly.

"What-"

Kai was cut off by the realisation that the Mana Vein Enhancement was not an item and in fact instantaneous.

And what sort of good upgrade would it be if it didn't have Kai drop to the ground and start writhing in agony?

Small note - From this chapter on, majority of the numbers that arent to do with the system will be written in number form (86) rather than word form (eight-six). This is done as the numbers are getting bigger and it is getting inefficient to use word form. However, there will be some exceptions, like I would still say twenty minutes later rather than 20 minutes later as I think it looks better. Still, any stats or random numbers will be in number form no matter what.

Anyway, thank you anyone who is still reading.
