Chapter 38: How do I feel?
'Murata/Akira, Akane and Nanaka are all dead and only Judas is left. This misson worked out really well.' I stand alone on the destroyed area whilst Judas's body lay on the ground next to me.
My phone rings loudly. A few buttons are pressed.
"Hey Toji." After saying that I heard an unsettling sound. "And wormy. Did you succeed?"
"Obviously. It was just like any other mission. That girl is dead and your precious friends are in critical condition."
"Uhuh. What about Unohana?"
"No clue."
"Kay. Anyway, I'll be coming soon so you guys just wait for me." I hear Toji grunt in annoyance.
"I'll meet you...huh?" Abruptly, Toji cuts off. 'He probably lost another bet as he always does. And Judas is waking up now so I gotta look good.'
She looks around and moves the cloth covering her body. "Is it...all gone?" Her arm vibrates lightly.
"Yes. But it doesn't have to stay that way." From this situation I can better understand her willpower. I pitifully look at her tearful eyes.
"I made this place to make our....society a better place." I use my hand to turn her head to look up to mine.
"A better place can be made." I draw her face closer. "Under my control."
A while later...
'Finally! Everything's been sorted out, now I just need to meet Toji. Kang said he went in this general direction.' I keep walking for a bit until something strange crawls towards me. It's wormy.
"Háhâōýá." What? I grab the damaged curse spirit and run forward and as I feared in my heart.
I see...
Toji's dead corpse.
Shit.
'Judging from his body it's only been about an hour since he died. If only I came faster! This shouldn't have happened!....who was it?'
That 'huh' I heard must have been from Toji seeing something surprising. And I'm sure whatever it was killed him. I look down at the inventory curse. 'For now my instincts tell me to go to the Time Vessel Association.' So I immediately run back.
"HEY KANG!" No response. I jump directly on the top of the massive building and see something odd. Satoru and Suguru talking.
I can easily make out the conversation. I also notice how Suguru replies to Satoru's question as if he's lying to himself. 'Seen that many times.'
As Satoru leaves he looks up at the window. Directly at me.
'Those cold eyes of his. Urgh. Toji is right. Satoru is creepy.' Suguru stands there completely frozen with eyes unfocused whilst I slink back into the shadows.
'If I were to guess....actually I don't need to guess. The answer is so fucking simple.' Toji started it really but it isn't fair. Not fair. Not fair not- whatever.
"Háhâōýá!" I clutch the curse tightly and run off into the distance. 'How I'm feeling right now. I don't really understand it.' The pit in my stomach grows deeper.
An hour later....
"Megumi. About your da-"
"Don't care." Alright.
"How are your dogs doing?"
"Fine." I feel like its becoming harder to talk to Megumi. 'I need to repair Toji's tools and name those daggers. I'll deal with my other problems later.'
"Also mom's gone." How totally unexpected. After talking to Tsumiki I rush back home to my workshop.
I ignore Unohana and walk forward until she grabs my arm. 'Don't need to tell her everything.' I once again ignore her.
'This will take a few weeks especially since some parts of the weapon have just been eradicated. Which is sorta odd since blue or red can't do this much damage.' Either way I begin to work.
I need to cover the wounded area with J absorb and melted Curseinum that is of the same type as the one that made the tool. The same forging method must also remain the same.
The vows also have to be re-made if broken but that doesn't seem to be the case for the thousand mile chain. It always feels fun to make tools.
"Anyway I'm done!" What to do next?
"IM GOING TO JUJUTSU HIGH!" Maybe I should check up on Suguru.
"Hey." I carefully avoid Satoru and meet up with Shoko. "Know where Suguru is?" She just points towards the field.
Within a few seconds i find him on the ground just laying there so I join him.
"You good?" Toji may have done more than just 'hurt' him.
"I'm fine." Huh. 'His voice is completely normal so worrying wasn't needed.'
"Mhuhm." We are both silent for a while then I just leave out of boredom. I'll just go home again.
'About Satoru. He is my friend but Toji was my mentor/friend too. If I just keep quiet I'm sure the situation won't escalate right?'
"Haaaaa." Remember what Toji taught you.
'Keep a cool face.'
'Hide your thoughts.'
'Bury your feelings.'
1 year later...
"Megumi is it that hard?" He nods mindlessly. "I could ask-" I abruptly pause my words. 'Satoru is coming here. Why?'
I use one of my many secret gestures, Megumi doesn't understand any, and hide. 'Megumi doesn't know anything about the Jujutsu world except the basics like techniques, curses, and Jujutsu High.'
"You're Megumi Fushiguro, right?"
"Who's asking. And what's with that weird look on your face." Megumi does not look happy.
"Uhhh...you really look like him. My own issue anyway. Ehem!"
"Your dad is from this big clan called the Zenin Clan but no one likes them, all a bunch of pricks." Not true and why is Satoru moving his fingers like that?
"So he left and he agreed to sell you off to the Zenin Clan once you reached 4-6 which is when sorcerers awaken their cursed techniques." Megumi has a bored look on his face. "Perfect time to sell you off eh?" Satoru really likes his own voice.
"Ab-" Megumi cuts him off.
"Don't care. Mom and dad both left us to enjoy themselves so it's only S- Tsumiki and me." After saying that Megumi jogs back to his house whilst Satoru stands there baffled.
"I've been thinking about something y'know. Even though I know the answer." He stretches his arms. "I'd like to hear it from you Sachi."
