Ch.24 Under the Moons Gaze

Finishing my training with my mother I leave the room, drinking a mana potion I focus on regaining my almost depleted mana.

Although the training wasn't that hard due to me already having prior knowledge about the subject it was still very mana-depleting.

Though Rune and Array magic was more useful than I thought, I wonder why it isn't commonly used nowadays.

Well not my problem to think about, looking at the setting sun I make my way toward my room to have a bath.

After all, even though I don't have any unpleasant body odor it still feels stuffy after an entire day of working out.

Walking through the castle I look at the workers either going to their resting quarters or going to their home outside the castle and in the city.

Well, they are being replaced by the night shift workers so there isn't really a change to the manpower structure of the castle.

The city is starting to be lit as all the magic lamps throughout the city light up as they make a beautiful view.

I will have to give praise to the artisans who built this city, after all, it is beautiful in both day and night time.

Walking silently through the lit hallways I make my way toward my room, entering it I let go of my noble etiquette as I throw my sweaty clothes off and make my way to the bathroom.

Sniff!

This scent,... Ruby. Was she here? I wonder why.

I think to myself as I walk past my bed, ignoring that for now, I enter the bathroom to wash myself.

In the dining room of the castle, the environment was lively as two more people were sitting on the empty chairs.

Ecos of laughter could be heard as they enjoyed each other's presence and talked with each other about how their life had been.

Neo and Ruri didn't waste a moment as they continued to tease Agni making her a blushing mess, though they did it in a way that Vayu won't find out about it.

As for Vayu, he wasn't safe too as Ruby and Alice were on his tail constantly teasing him the moment they got the chance.

Nexus laughed at their interaction and Alicia silently ate her food looking at the harmonious scene with various thoughts floating through her head.

After eating their food and hours of talking, Alicia first excused herself as she left, which was followed by Neo as he also said goodnight to them and left.

Walking through the hall Neo stretched his hands as he smiled at the conservation they in the dining room.

Feeling that his plans are working more flawlessly than even he thought he can't help but be ecstatic.

Even though it was already deep in the night and the city had mostly gotten quiet Neo didn't feel quite tired.

Which was surprising even for him, after all, he had been training nonstop throughout the day, well not minding his newfound stamina.

He tapped one of his earrings as a book appeared in his hands, holding the book with his hands he jumped out off one of the openings of the castle.

Thinking of how many times he has done this in just two days he smiled to himself as he made his way to the top of the castle.

Bating under the beautiful glow of the moon he opened his book and started reading it. The contents of this book weren't anything special as it told the history of the 'Solious Empire'.

Well history of the old Noble system that was changed 500 years ago due to the incident related to the Demons in the central continent.

After all amount, of the four ducal families that stood in the past only three, remain them being 'The Lionheart- Divine Shield of the Sun', 'Starlight-Divine Sword of the Sun', and 'Fietena- Divine Grace of the Sun'.

The fallen ducal family name was removed from the history book as they chose its removal after their fall. Not only that all the other nobles except the Duke ranks were also removed.

"Ahhhhhh,..A little help here."

As Neo was enjoying his book a little girl's scream was heard, Neo turned his head up to look at the figure of a falling Ruby.

He became a little confused but still his body moved as he cast a flying spell on himself and rushed to catch the falling figure.

Taking her in a princess carry he gracefully landed on the castle top as he put her down on the ground.

"How did you get here Ruby."

Neo asked as Ruby scratched her head at that question giving him a silly smile.

"I jumped."

Hearing her reply I gave her a deadpan look, seeing that she wasn't joking I gave a sigh as I sat down again.

Giving her the signal to sit down next to me which she did I looked at her again. Fixing her little disheveled hair I opened my mouth.

"And why did you jump up here."

"Well, I thought you would be here. After all, it is your favorite resting spot."

Ruby replied as she gave me a cute smile.

"And what if I wasn't here? You would have fallen you know."

I asked not letting my judgment be affected by her cuteness.

"It's not like it would have hurt even if I fell."

This girl, giving such a muscle head example.

"Still there was a chance for you to get hurt you know."

I continued to reprimand her as I gave her a head chomp. Even though it most likely didn't hurt she still rubbed her forehead and made a pitiful face. At least her acting is on point, though she is trying to use it against the person who taught her how to act.

"You really think your third-rate acting will work against me."

I ask her again as I flick her forehead this time I infused mana on my finger so it should have hurt even if a little.

"Oww, meanie."

She complained as she gave me the look of an abandoned puppy, Sigh, I made her acting skills way too good.

"You still haven't answered my question."

"Hmm, well I knew you would save me even if I was in danger."

Such an outrageous answer, though I couldn't detect a hint of a lie in it. This girl saying such a thing with that innocent and cute smile.

"Sigh, you know I am weaker than you."

I ask her as I rub my hair, well it is the truth after all my mana rank is way lower than hers.

"Still, that may be true. But I know Neo will surpass me one day."

She said that in such a confident voice that even I was a little flabbergasted, after all, where does she get that confidence from?

"You know what.... be careful next time."

I replied as I put my hands down, after all, I didn't have anything more to say to her. Well, I did but after her reply, I really didn't have the heart to say it. After all, she is way too cute.

Hmm, it can develop into a weakness in the future.. I should learn to deal with it.
