Journey: The Destructive Incarnate

In the Stellar sea of stars, a giant tree stood, rivers made of countless white streaks flowed throughout its giant body travelling toward its root. Those rivers were made of souls going through the process of rebirth, but among those countless rivers, a certain stream travelled directly toward the stem of the tree. In that specific river, a soul flowed like every other; nothing special about it would have remained as such. Suddenly the space it inhabited collapsed as a brilliant golden glow travelled out of that distorted space. The soul unable to escape got showered by that golden glow, its spiritual body absorbing it. Unable to handle the magnitude of the power contained in the golden light, the soul started to tear up. But somehow it managed to absorb it all, but it came at a cost, as the single soul split into two, one being thrown out of that river. Passing through another river, it made its way toward the root, whereas the other part continued on its way. A soul who got the body to handle the power of the golden glow after rebirth but didn't have it, and a body that had the power but couldn't handle it was created. But fate works in mysterious ways as after the death of one body, the soul finally reunited making someone whole. Neo was the part that got the power but couldn't handle it, this gave him a fate worse than death. He couldn't use mana, in a world filled with mana and where the strong ruled. Ch.23 Magic Training

After getting knocked out three more times in the name of training it finally finishes. Saying goodbye to Father I make my way toward my mother's study room.

She must be waiting there for me, and if my guess is correct both Agni and Aunt Ruri should also be there.

I move my body as I can still feel the fantom pains due to all the beating I got, good thing my mental fortitude has increased due to me having the memories of my last life.

Walking steadily at the same pace I arrive in front of my mother's study room, the door in front of me opens as it feels my presence.

"Sorry for the disturbance."

I voice out loud as I enter the room, the space where I am standing on, shifts again as the room gets bigger than what one might suspect from looking from outside.

Beautiful, and serene are the only words I can use to describe this place, a beautiful flower garden is what came to my view first.

Bookshelves floated throughout the sky with books flying about, and in the middle of this majestic space was a small lounging area.

In that seat, three people were sitting, My mother, Agni, and Aunt Ruri drinking some tea and talking to each other.

"Oh, you have arrived son."

Mother says as she smiles at me, Agni and Ruri also turn their attention to me, seeing the hint of red on Agni's face I can say that the plan was successful.

Giving each other a thumbs up with our smile Aunt Agni and I look at each other.

"Come here, my son."

Mother says as she points at her lap, before I can even move a magic circle forms beneath me and in the next moment I am in my mother's lap.

"Was training with your father hard."

She asks me in a gentle and caring voice as she rubs my hair.

"I guess,"

I reply not saying too much, after all, I don't want her to get worried about it.

"Hmm, don't push yourself too much ok, My son."

Mother says giving up on that topic as she turns my head toward her.

"..Ok"

I reply, after all, I didn't have any other choice, well though I do not want them to shoulder the Karmic Burden alone, and it's not like this world will leave us alone.

"After all it is not just us who have to pay the Karmic debt this time, instead it is the entire population of this world."

Mother continues with her words, as she passes me the information of all the high-ranking figures and kingdoms who have to pay this debt.

Seeing that I give a mental sigh of relief, after all, if it is extended to such a number of people then the individual debt will be quite low.

"Understood Mother, though no promises."

I reply as I give her a smile.

"You have grown more cheeky these days."

Mother says as she pinches my cheeks, acting like I was in pain I request her to let go.

"Yes, Neo really has been quite cheeky these days. I wonder if I should discipline him myself."

The cold and dangerous voice of Agni is heard as I feel my spine tingling. I quickly tried to from words to get out of this situation but it seemed I didn't need to do that.

"Now, now sister. You know little Neo is only doing this for your sake."

Aunt Ruri says as she pats her shoulder to get her attention and smiles at her.

"Plus did you forget the news that Ruby had bought?"

She continues as she reminds her of the conversation she had with Ruby.

Her face turns beet red as steam comes out of her head, with speed that I could only describe as fast she runs away.

"Pity she ran away."

Aunt Ruri says as she gives a mischievous chuckle.

"Thanks for the save, Aunt."

I thank her as I give her a thumbs up.

"Hehe, there is no need for that Neo. After all, due to you, my little sister can finally escape her singlehood."

Giving a soft laugh at my reply she comments as she stands up. Fixing her clothes she looks at us and says.

"Well, then I won't disturb you longer."

"You were never a disturbance Ruri."

Mother replies to her words as both of them smile at each other, giving us a last goodbye she leaves the room.

"Sigh, My son you know you are playing with fire by teasing Agni like that."

Mother sighs as she says in a concerned voice, well her concern was well founded.

"Don't worry Mother I have a plan against that, and in the worst case I will just have to run for a while."

I reply in a confident voice, after all, I am more than ninety percent sure that this plan will work.

"Well if you say so, my son."

Mother says as she gently removes me from her lap and puts me next to her.

"So my son, what magic do you want to specialize in."

She asks an important question as thousands upon thousands of books start to float in front of me showing the different paths and elements that I can specialize on.

"Hmm, mother don't I have a specialized core."

I ask after all if I remember correctly just like Ruby who had a Sun core I was also born with a specialized one.

"Yes, you have a specialized core, but it seems to be attribute less. Plus we don't really know what is the essence of your specialized core."

Attribute less, that's news, well good news after all unlike Ruby who now can only specialize in sun, fire, and light magic due to it being her attribute I can practice every form of magic.

"Well, the mother I would like to choose Array, Rune, and Fire magic."

I replied to her initial question, I chose a limited number of things as after a point learning everything will be meaningless.

"Hmm, I can teach you Rune and Array, but Fire I guess you have to be taught by Agni in that aspect. After all, I specialize in Ice magic."

Mother comments as she gives me a small example, a little amount of glistening light blue colored mana particle comes out of her hands.

Although beautiful they also have a deep sense of dread to them as even without touching them I can feel the chill induced by them.

She taps her finger on the ground and it starts to freeze, but it doesn't stop there as it starts to spread.

In a matter of seconds, everything except the place both me and mother were standing froze, we were surrounded by deep blue ice on all sides.

I couldn't help but marvel at such a sight of power, touching the ice I could fell the coldness radiating from it.

Snap!

Mother snapped her fingers as the ice started to crack, and with that, they broke into tiny particles as the snow started to fall.

Looking around except for the presence of snow nothing else had changed or had been damaged, an amazing display of control over one's mana.

"Hehe, Now then let's start your training, My dear son."
