A phone ~ 23

CHAPTER 23

I held the heavy, black phone in my hands.

"woow.. This is a niiiice phone!" I mumbled as I examined every corner and detail of the phone. It was a huawei brand.

The manager smiled with an over proud look on her face. It was as if she was saying 'I knew he'd like that one'.

I held down the on button and a bright logo flashed up on the screen.

~ - HUAWEI - ~

It took over an hour to set everything up.

"Thank you for this." Amelia said as she hugged her friend. "how much do we owe you?" she said as she pulled away and looked her in the eye.

"pshhh" The manager friend burst out laughing, tears in her eyes. "your kidding right?" she sighed. "it's free of charge, you are my bestie!" she pulled her into a massive hug once again.

Before leaving the manager turned to me and reached out to shake my hand. We shook hands. "my name is Rebecca but you can call becca" she smiled and let go of my hand. "I put my number on your phone, Damien." she giggled. "so I'll be texting you both to plan our sleepover at your new house!" Rebecca and Amelia squealed together.

"Bye, thank you soo much!" Amelia and I walked out into the street.

It was much quieter now and the shops were beginning to close.

We ran to the bus stop just as the last bus pulled up, it was completely empty. Sitting at the window seat once again, I watched as the sun set over the sea shore. It was getting darker way earlier now.

We walked a familiar route in the dark.

I wasn't even tired when we got to Amelias house. I was too busy toying with my shiny, new phone!

Without taking my eyes off the screen I pulled off my shirt and jumped into bed, forgetting, yet again, that I was not in my own house.

On our walk home we had picked up some headphones to fit my phone.

I put them in and started to watch YouTube.

After a few minutes I noticed Amelia looking at me in the corner of my eye. I was shirtless in my shorts and I was not under my blanket.

I pretended that I hadn't seen her and I carried on watching YouTube.

Around half an hour later my headphones were pulled off of my head. "goodnight" Amelia stood there swinging my headphones on one finger.

I laughed. "Sorry" I went a little red and pulled the duvet over me. "goodnight" I smiled awkwardly, red in the face.

"it's fiiine" she handed me back my headphones. "just don't be up too late, work tomorrow." she pointed at a calendar.

"ughhh nooooe" I laughed and groaned at the same time. "don't worry I won't be long" I reassured her.

She climbed into bed and before I knew it, she was snoring. She must have been tired.

I looked down onto the floor next to me and saw my new shirt folded over the radiator.

Amelia must have done that. I was so happy she had taken me through a quick clothing shop before we left town.

I woke up in a haze, we had slept through the alarm and we were both rushing about to get to work. All I can really remember is that Amelia pulled my shirt over my head and neatened me up before she pushed me out of the house.

The cold air of the early morning woke me up a little bit. I didn't say anything to Amelia who was walking next to me but I was thinking. About work and how quickly everything had been happening those past few months and everything I did when I was in my coma.

"what on earth happened to the car I stole?" I finally spoke which made Amelia jump a little.

"oh yeah... What did happen to that?" Her brows furrowed and you could tell she was thinking.

"dunno" I said sloppily. I was still very tired but I needed to prepare my brain for work. We approached the café and there were already a few people wandering around the beaches.

I patted my pocket for my new phone and it was there, which was good.

"lets face the day" I said taking in a deep breath as we walked into the café...
