“Thank you doctor” she said and sat beside Christy.

  “Why will Paul do this?, Is he beginning to hate her? No, Paul can’t hate Christy I know it, he can’t, maybe because he was drunk, let me hold on till tomorrow morning then if I don’t see him I will know something is wrong”

Bridget woke up in the morning by her phone ring tone, is Paul, he has already called six times.

“Hello Paul”

Bridget where are you? I saw your miss calls, what about Christy, have you seen her?”

“Paul calm down, one question at a time. First am in the hospital, I try calling you because I rushed Christy to the hospital”

“What happened to her?, and which hospital are you?”

“So you don’t know what you did?, in fact don’t worry let me text you the address.”

“Ok”

Bridget texted him the address and he was there with his daughter in a flash.

“OMG, what happened?” Paul ask Bridget rushing to Christy side.

“If you don’t remember what happened then what ever was wrong with you must be really big”

“Bridget please tell me what did I do to her?, Where is the doctor? Is she going to be fine?” Paul ask all at once.

“The doctor said she will be fine, but I don’t know what you did, I only saw her on the floor not talking nor moving, but all I know is that you were drunk”

“OMG, I need to see the doctor,” Bridget directed him to the doctor’s office.

“Are you the man who did that to a pregnant woman?”

“Am sorry doctor I don’t know what came over me, I swear to you I have never beating her before, I..I..I.. don’t know what happened, but I promise it will never happen again”

It better not because if it does and she dies you will be in prison”.

Paul could only shakes his head in agreement.

“So how is she doctor?”

She is doing fine, but the baby is not, at first I thought the baby was ok but a second scan done on her show the baby is not ok, she is going to under operation.

“What? No..no..no to this can’t be happening, Paul held his head, I done for, what have I done?”

“Mr. Man is there something wrong other that what I just said?” The doctor ask because seeing Paul now one will think that somebody just died.

“No, nothing” Paul said and stood up “Where will I get money for operation now? My salary is not even enough. If I go home to ask for money mom will refuse to give it to me. What do I do now?” He scratches his head and walk to where Bridget is with his daughter and Christy.

“What did he say”

“She needs to under go operation, the baby is not ok”

“What? Look what you’ve done, what if she didn’t make it alive?”

Paul could not hold it any more he started to cry, “ No she can’t die, she will make it alive, she just have to make alive”

Is ok, she will make alive. So when is the operation taking place?”

“Next tomorrow, we need to make a deposit of five hundred thousand naira.”
