Luis Sanchez, a private detective with a mysterious past, once brought down the notorious "Inferno" mafia gang. But beneath his reputation, he guards an extraordinary secret. In his own home, he hides the daughter of the imprisoned mafia kingpin, concealed by a new identity as his cousin. She is a human, yet not quite; a creation born of science and ethereal mystery, a clone with mysteries even she can't unravel, but Luis understands. Their history goes back to Luis infiltrating the Inferno mafia, where he seduced and manipulated her, extracting information about her mafia boss father with no remorse, only to cast her aside once his mission was accomplished. Now, fate brings them together, living under one roof and getting to know the real her, Luis found himself falling helplessly in love. The tables had turned, and he longed for redemption, a love he could no longer attain. In a complex tale of love, secrets, and deception, their shared past haunts them. The mafia boss's daughter holds a revelation that could shake their world. Can love heal the wounds Luis once inflicted, or will it be their ultimate downfall in this intricate dance of destiny? -------- "You didn't actually think I was trying to get back together with you though, right? " Luis purred, his manipulation once more evident. Catherine's obsidian gaze remained locked on him with disbelief, her eyes saying things her lips were too afraid to say. Annoyance, indignation, disappointment and confusion, everything was there. A sly grin curved upon Luis's lips as he lounged back, seemingly nonchalant. His eyes, though, betrayed his inner turmoil. As they subconsciously tried to avoid looking into Catherine's, those azure eyes flickered toward the tranquil pond, where koi fish created mesmerizing ripples. "Don't you at least feel sorry for the things you did to me, Luis? " But this straightforward question of Catherine earned her his attention back. Luis had no choice but to meet her obsidian eyes again and he just stared down into them. For awhile, no words came out of his lips. Luis's stoic expression made it hard to tell what he exactly was even thinking. His azure eyes were too much for Catherine to handle. And the longer she looked into them, the more she could feel her own heart beating faster, almost making her forget what a serious question she just asked him now. She turned her head away to calm down her poor heart. "I do. " Two words finally broke the silence between them, catching Catherine by surprise. This was the answer she had expected the least to hear from this man, a master of manipulation. The next second, their eyes locked again. But just as Catherine thought she might catch a glimpse of sincerity in those eyes, Luis leaned in all closer, which freaked her out. Without a word, he gently pressed her against the bench, stirring her anxiety. Catherine's breathing now became faster as she realized how Luis's lips were so close to brushing against hers. She tried to look down, hoping this would just convince Luis to stop whatever he was trying to do to her. But Luis was unyielding. His fingers, both gentle and commanding, tilted her chin upwards, their gazes locking in a dangerous magnetic struggle. "There's not a day I haven't felt bad for manipulating you or using you. " Luis whispered, his breath warm against her ear. And as he shifted his attention from her lips to her profile, the man continued his confession. But Catherine couldn't bother to believe him anymore. She just knew this was one of his manipulations again. "But when you're this useful to me, and the benefits of exploiting you are too tempting..." ------- Please vote and comment if you like my novel ! Morning Surprises

Despite his firm determination not to cook for Catherine again, Luis found himself in the kitchen, preparing breakfast once more. The clock inched closer to 9 am, yet Catherine had not made her way downstairs. As he poured a ladleful of pancake batter onto a sizzling skillet, a small frown creased his brow.

"Why isn't she coming down yet? Was the dose I gave her too strong?" Luis pondered while expertly flipping the blueberry pancakes, watching for that perfect golden brown.

The truth was, he had calculated the dose precisely, neither too high nor too low. However, doubts still clouded his thoughts. What if Catherine had a slower metabolism?

The warm, buttery aroma of blueberry pancakes filled the air, but his preoccupied mind couldn't fully appreciate it.

Just then, the kitchen's door swung open, and Catherine's soft voice drifted in like a tantalizing breeze.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

She inquired, her words laced with a touch of morning drowsiness.

Luis had almost breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that perhaps he hadn't overdosed her. But when he turned around to face Catherine, his heart went into an abrupt, rapid tempo.

"Sweetie, why are you not wearing anything down there?!" he blurted out, his eyes involuntarily drawn to her.

Catherine's eyes widened in surprise. For a moment, she appeared genuinely bewildered as the young woman glanced down at herself, half-awake and disheveled.

Then, a flush of warmth crept up Catherine's cheeks. The young woman hadn't realized how the oversized t-shirt and shorts, which she had thought of as casual and comfortable, could suddenly feel so revealing under this man's intense gaze. Unbeknownst to herself, Catherine failed to realize how tempting she looked right now to Luis.

Her eyes, still heavy with remnants of sleep, held a captivating allure. Strands of her hair had escaped the confines of her claw clip, tumbling in a disheveled cascade down her shoulders. Her tousled locks framed her face in a carefree and almost rebellious manner.

In the soft morning light, her bare legs seemed to glisten, and her shorts clung to her in a way that left very little to the imagination.

Luis couldn't help but acknowledge the undeniable danger of sharing his home with such an alluring young woman. His heart pounded in his chest, and he felt a rush of desire he hadn't experienced in a long time. He swallowed hard, struggling to control his growing desire.

"Ah...that's not it. I'm wearing shorts. Look."

Catherine's voice, still drowsy from sleep, broke the tension that had gripped the room. She attempted to mask the awareness of Luis's unintentional but unmistakable desire.

In her drowsy state, driven by an inexplicable impulse, Catherine innocently lifted the hem of her oversized shirt as if to prove she was indeed wearing shorts. In doing so, she unwittingly revealed snug-fitting shorts that clung to her well-toned thighs enticingly. It was a fleeting yet tantalizing glimpse for the man.

Luis blinked, momentarily taken aback by the captivating sight before him. His thoughts raced, and he quickly averted his gaze to avoid staring, clearing his throat in an attempt to regain composure.

"Sorry, I... I didn't notice," he mumbled, though inside, a storm of emotions and desires raged.

As Catherine moved away, Luis couldn't resist stealing one last glance, and a startling realization struck him like a bolt of lightning.

"What the... sweetie's also not wearing any bra at all. I can almost see her nipples through her t-shirt.

What's exactly wrong with her this morning? There's no way the biopsy last night would have somehow affected her brain."

His inner thoughts were in disarray, grappling with the bewildering events of the morning, leaving him both intrigued and perplexed by Catherine's unusual behavior.

Trying hard to shift his attention back on stacking blueberry pancakes onto plates, Luis replied, "Oh you just asked if I need your help, right? It's okay. Breakfast is almost ready now. I just need to drizzle these pancakes with maple syrup, and we can eat."

Catherine, still in a half-awake haze, simply nodded, her cheeks carrying a faint blush. As she departed, Luis couldn't help but reflect on the changing dynamics between them.

Just yesterday evening, it was he who had nearly scared Catherine away with his playful advances in the garden. However, this morning, she had turned the tables, catching him off guard with her unintentional sensuality. It was both amusing and frustrating, as he found himself grappling with newfound desires.

Truth be told, a full week had passed since his last release, and the unexpected sight of Catherine had pushed his self-control to the brink. Luis struggled to shake off the intoxicating images that now lingered in his mind. He was now acutely aware of Catherine's allure, her tantalizing thighs, her slender waist, and the subtle curves that graced her figure. The lines between his role as a guardian and the desires of a man were blurring, and it left him in a state of internal turmoil.

When he had dated Catherine back then, Luis had never regarded her in this light. He was acutely aware of her youth at the tender age of 19, recognizing that she could easily be influenced and might even willingly offer her innocence to him if he so desired.

However he had set clear boundaries for himself, determined not to compromise her innocence, take her virginity, or exploit her body in any way. At that time, he had been able to maintain a clear separation between his mission and his personal desires. So, why now was he succumbing to these intense desires, seeing Catherine through a lens that seemed to target her innocence?

Just as he was feeling frustrated about all these, a sudden realization jolted Luis's mind.

"Wait a minute....how had sweetie not yet noticed that small incision left on her thigh?"

The events of their mission from last night, particularly the punch skin biopsy, rushed back to the forefront of Luis's thoughts. He vividly recalled observing Gabriela's expert execution of the procedure on Catherine's left thigh.

Luis furrowed his brow, his mind racing to reconcile this puzzle. He muttered to himself,

"Wait, now that I think of it, where did that incision go? I didn't see it when sweetie showed me she's wearing shorts. The incision was right around there, I'm sure."

His curiosity and concern deepened as he pondered this unexpected development.

So what might make the incision left on Catherine disappear overnight? Here's a clue. A little bit of science fiction involved but other than that I'll try to keep the plot as normal and real as possible. (~‾▿‾)~
