Beginning

"So I'm supposed to save Avalent from it's oncoming doom?" Clay asked in a confused tone. He was currently still in the abyss sitting with his legs crossed, as the tiny Lumen explained his situation.

Clay scratched his head in confusion as he thought about what Lumen just told him. 'A parallel world..' he thought to himself, with everything that's been happening it was plausible. Still, this could just be some really weird fever dream.

Lumen went on with his explanation in a rushed manner. It sounded like he was in a real hurry seeing how he ignored all of Clay's questions, leaving Clay with more.

"-and with those systems, you'll work your way up and become heroes!" The little light enthusiastically said--

"Ow! Please don't shout.."

For some reason Clay's ears were being a lot more sensitive than usual. It was weird for sure, but everything else overshadowed it. Only now did he finally speak up about it.

"Tsk." a pissed off Lumen grumbled. "Alright, I'm done explaining. What was your name again?" the ball of light added. To which Clay replied with telling it his name--

"Clay Port"

The small light pondered for a while, muttering Clay's name over and over as time went on. It finally stopped before flying right up to Clay's face. "Your real name." It said.

Clay winced his eyes as he thought about what Lumen just said. "That is my real name." he retorted. Lumen sounded confused as he continued to pester Clay about his real name, to which Clay gave the same answer over and over again. It was his name after all, it's even written in his birth certificate--

"Listen here kid. Clay Port isn't on the list, so give me your real name now before you di-" in the midst of Lumen's long scolding, he suddenly disappeared, almost as if he was snapped out of existence.

Startled by the sudden disappearance, Clay sprung up from his position. "Lumen? Lumen!" He exclaimed as he looked around. He wasn't really paying attention to what Lumen was saying, so he felt that he was fucked in some way or another now that he's gone.

Out of nowhere, cracks started to form around Clay. The dark black abyss that covered him earlier was now slowly crackling into pieces, much like glass. Slowly the cracking reached him.

The dazed Clay was stuck in place, too scared to move. He could only watch as the cracks reached below his feet. He could feel the solid ground he was standing on slowly collapse into nothing as he fell--

"-that's quite concerning."

A soft soothing voice reached his ears as he descended. It was the last thing he heard before passing out.

...

A pure white room, similar to the one Clay was confined in, but instead of pure black it was a blinding white color.

In the middle stood an unidentifiable figure. The figure was indeed humanoid but it had no facial features, no anything. What remained was nothing but his body, a body with nothing but white.

The figure was almost invisible as it blended in with it's surroundings. In front of the white figure was a blonde woman. Her hair tied up in a braid with little flower ornaments attached on it. The woman's glistened pale white skin as she donned a white toga--

"His name isn't on any list." The woman muttered. The white figure looked down at the woman as he placed his hand on his chin. "Hmm.. that's quite concerning." A loud voice emanated from the figure, forming little cracks in the white space.

The woman in front of him was visibly uncomfortable. Sweat dripped from her forehead as she tried her best to stay awake. The sheer power of the figure's voice was enough to make a normal person pass out--

"Well it's not like we can do anything now."

The figure said as more cracks formed around them. "Let's just watch." It added. This time the white space was on the brink of destruction and the woman was on the floor out cold.
