Chapter 101: Destruction(3)

Boom! Boom! Boom!

When Luke returned his gaze to the area where he had come from, he witnessed numerous fires and explosions. The rest of the team appears to be doing a good job.

• Wow, it's a whole carnage out there!

Luke turned his head back after nodding in agreement with Nash's remark. He then turned to face the massive tower in front of him, which was mostly unoccupied. The mages and guards within had already gone out to fight his group, leaving the tower completely empty. Luke smirked and walked peacefully inside, only to be welcomed by an empty lobby, as everyone had fled.

Luke sighed and looked around before ascending the stairs and inspecting each room one by one. Even though he claimed he would destroy the tower, it would be horrible if he also destroyed certain valuables, right? So he'd better go ahead and rob it first.

While searching around, Luke came across a door that stood out among the others. It didn't stand out because of its ornate decorations; it stood out because it was just a simple oak door, unlike the other doors he'd seen along the route.

• Dad, I believe that is merely a storage area.

Luke's mouth is twisted. He's not sure why, but he feels compelled to visit.

"Dad? What are you doing?"

Nash inquired, puzzled, as he looked at Luke, who was approaching the door. Luke brushed him aside and slowly twisted the rusted doorknob open. What he found was exactly what he expected; it looked like any other storage room, but Luke kept glancing around for some reason.

Luke then began rummaging around in the cabinets, drawers, and shelves. The only thing he could see was cleaning supplies. Luke rubbed his head and groaned.

'What am I doing here in the first place?'

Luke was going to walk away when...

Creak!

Luke came to a halt and peered down, then pressed his foot into the floor once more, the same squeaking noises repeated. He then took a deep breath and swallowed.

'Could this be one of the hidden rooms beneath the floor like in those espionage movies I used to watch?... No way.'

Luke knelt on the floor and yanked up the thick, heavy carpet that covered the wooden floor. He laughed in surprise after removing the carpet.

"Ha! What the hell is this?"

Luke rose to get a better view of the floor and noticed some strange symbols carved into the wood. Then he noticed some strange outlines, indicating that this floor may be accessed. Luke tapped his toes on the floor and clicked his tongue. When his hands came into contact with the floor, the strange markings on the floor began to glow in a strange purple light.

Luke took a step back in surprise and took a strange stare at the door. Then came the mild rumbling, which made him gulp nervously.

'Uh... Did I do that?'

Ooongg! Boom!

The floor then shifted, revealing a downward-facing stairway. Luke's forehead creased.

"Can you tell what this is, Nash? Nash?"

Luke looked around but couldn't find Nash. He then checks outside the hallways, but no one is there. Luke frowned.

"Nash! Where are you?"

No one responded despite him shouting Nash's name at the top of his lungs. Luke clenched his jaw and returned his gaze to the foreboding stairwell on the floor.

Should he abandon this stairwell and return later? Should he go inside now?

Luke paused for a moment before swallowing.

'I'll just wander around for a while before heading out to see Nash.'

Luke then walked down the dark stairwell by himself.

---------

"Who are you? You've been following us for quite some time."

Nash, transformed as a 15-year-old youngster with a face resembling Luke's, cast a glance at the mysterious figure in front of him. The man is wearing a hood and a black mask that stretches from his nose to his chin. The man's back is equipped with a wooden bow and a slew of arrows. Although he appears to be an archer, he is not from this region.

They are currently on the rooftop at the very top of the tower, with the moonlight as their only source of light; the rest of the tower is dark.

Nash sighed and scratched his head from annoyance.

"I need to finish this as soon as possible so I can catch up to Dad-"

Swoosh! Boom!

Nash's speech was cut short when the unknown man dashed up to him and attempted to hit him in the face. Thankfully, Nash was quick enough to avoid it, causing the man to hit the stone floor instead of him. Nash was enraged as he glared at him.

"You rude son of a bitch. You didn't even give me a chance to finish."

If Luke were here, he'd be shocked to hear Nash curse, but he's not, and he's currently inspecting a strange storage area for some reason.

Nash's light blue mana then aggressively swirled around his body as he glared at the irritating man in front of him. He's furious.

"You're playing with the wrong guy, and as a result, it's time for you to go to hell."

Nash was now aware that this man was not ordinary, and he needed to give it his all for a while. It is to overthrow this man immediately as well as to return to Luke right away. It is also because the form that he is currently in consumes a lot of mana, he needed to end the fight in an instant.

"You see, my dad is quite the troublemaker. As a result, I need to finish you swiftly and keep an eye on him."

"Oh, it appears that someone has already taken care of the archer. Luck must be with us!"

Looking from a distance, the two unknown masked figures noticed a long black-haired young  man fighting with the archer they were supposed to handle. The man then grinned broadly and excitedly nudged the pink-haired man next to him.

"Wow, that black-haired guy appears to be a force to be reckoned with. Is he some sort of legendary beast?"

The pink-haired man nodded, widening the man's grin.

"Wow, there's a lot of wild stuff going on in this world these days. What does a legendary beast even doing here?"

With a frown, the pink-haired man stared at the man next to him. The man chuckled.

"Yes, yes, I shouldn't act as if I have no idea what's going on. But it's so uncommon to see a legendary beast trailing a human that I can't help but wonder what's going on, even though I already know the answer. Keke."

The man with the pink hair rolled his eyes and began to walk away. He was walking away when the man caught him and chuckled.

"Hey, where are you going? Don't abandon me!"

The man with the pink hair simply ignored him. The man sighed and trailed after him.

"Now that the archer is taken care of, let's meet the other guy!"
