Chapter 9 Flash Back Of A Past Life

As Lilac's footsteps approached the room Felix nervously turned to Daka and said "I-I won't die if she stabs me… I… can take the blame." As Lilac entered the room she seen Felix and Daka both on their knees at the door sitting silently. As Lilac seen Felix she glared at him and said "So it was you?" Felix continued to sit there silently as he then put his hands on the ground and bowed while he shouted "Please forgive me!" Lilac glanced at Daka as she asked "Why are you beside him while he's doing this?" As Daka sat there she nervously said "I-it… it wasn't him… he didn't do it." As she said this Felix glanced at her and whispered "What are you doing, she'll stab you!" Daka glanced at Felix as she shouted "I… was just scared of meeting someone new!" Lilac calmed down as she said, "Oh, you're a shy type, aren't you? It must've been difficult to deal with her just forcing herself into your home, sorry about that, she does it often." Felix sat there without saying a word as he thought "What's going on? I would've definitely been stabbed a few seconds ago."

Lilac glanced at Felix as she shouted "And why are you here? Did you also force your way into her room!" As she shouted Felix flinched and then nervously said "She… asked me to come here." Lilac shoved a knife into his chest as shouted "Don't lie to me!" As Felix fell backward with the knife in his chest he shouted "I'm telling the truth!" Daka stared at them in fear as she asked "I-is he going to be alright?" As Lilac pushed the knife deeper Felix screamed out in pain as Lilac said "He'll be fine so long as I don't harm his tail!" As Lilac pulled the knife out of his chest she glanced at Daka and said, "I'll have a little talk with Silkie for you, that way she'll at least have a little self-control around you." Felix held his chest where she stabbed him as he asked "Why do you always stab me!" Lilac glanced at him and put her finger on the tip of the knife as she blushed and said "Didn't Silkie already tell you why?"

Felix thought for a few moments as he said "Yeah she said you stab people you like, does that mean you stab everyone you wanna make friends with?" Lilac tossed the knife into his hand and chest as she said "Of course not, if I did that I wouldn't have any friends." Felix let out a grunt of pain as he pulled the knife out and mumbled "Then why does she keep stabbing me?" As Felix set the knife down Daka blushed and said "I think I get it." Felix stared at them both for a moment as he said "I'm just gonna go before I get stabbed again." Daka grabbed ahold of his sleeve as he was standing up and nervously asked "Can you… stay… until she leaves to?" Felix stood there for a moment and then said "But my birth tree needs water." As Lilac pulled out another knife she creepily said "Surely you wouldn't turn down this girl's request… right?" Felix felt a shiver go down his spine as he sat back down and said "Of course not… but maybe we should move someplace else to talk." Lilac glanced at the doorway she was standing in and said "Well going in any further without her permission is rude so I'll be leaving now."

Felix stared at her as she left as he thought "Is she scaring me on purpose, why did she threaten me and then leave herself!" Daka glanced at him as she asked "W-will you stay longer… please." As Felix stood up he said, "Let me get my birth tree first, then I'll come right back." As he walked out the door Daka curled up into a ball and said "Come back quickly… okay." After a few minutes, Felix came back holding the potted plant and seen her laying on the ground sideways in a fetal position. Felix stared at her for a moment as he asked "What are you doing?" As she heard his voice she sat up and said "I-I'm sorry, it's just that… it's scary to be alone… ever since they abandoned me." Felix stood there for a moment as he asked "You're talking about your family right?" The girl began to cry as she said "I just… didn't think they'd ever leave me." Felix stood there staring at her as he thought "Why does this feel so… familiar?" As Felix crouched down he said, "Well I'm here… aren't I?" As he said this he got a strong feeling of deja vu, as if he was standing in a field saying this to someone else.

As Daka wiped her tears she asked "Does this mean… you won't abandon me?" Felix nodded as he continued to feel as though he's done all this before while saying "Of course besides we're neighbors aren't we?" As Daka smiled Felix seen another girl with red hair and hazel-colored eyes. Felix stared at her in shock for a moment as she then asked "Do you mind… if I ask you for something?" Felix flinched as he said "S-sure." Daka stared at him as she asked "Would you… m-mind… staying the night here with me?" Felix tilted his head in confusion as he asked "What for?" Daka blushed as she said, "This is gonna sound odd… but… being around you feels comforting." Felix glanced at his potted tree for a moment and then said "I don't mind… but I have one condition." Daka stared at him as she nervously asked "W-What's your condition?" Felix pointed to his tree and said "I wanna keep this close to me at all times."

Daka stared at the tree and asked "Is it something important to you?" As Felix set it down he shrugged and said "It feels important… but I'm not really sure." As Daka stood up and walked over to the couch she sat down and nervously said "C-come in… and relax a bit… you can bring your plant to." Felix smiled as he said, "Okay then." As Felix set his plant down beside the couch and then sat down beside her he paused for a moment and then said in a surprised tone "This seat is soft?" Daka nodded as she nervously said "Yeah." As Daka grabbed the remote she asked "Is there anything you want to watch?" Felix stared at the remote she was holding as he asked "What do you mean?" As Daka aimed the remote at the tv and pressed a button the tv came on and showed a dog barking while Daka said "I'll show you." As Felix heard the dog's bark he quickly turned into a fox and hid behind the couch. As he hid Daka quickly turned off the tv and nervously said "I'm sorry… I-I turned it off… I didn't know it would scare you."

Once the tv was off Felix peeked out from beneath the couch in his fox form and stared at the tv for a few moments. After seeing that the tv was off he crawled out from under the couch and changed back into a person as he let out a sigh of relief and said "It sounded like I was about to be attacked." Daka stared at him for a moment and then asked "Do you… not like dogs?" Daka turned the tv back on and quickly switched the channel to something else and asked "Are you able to watch it now?" Felix stared at the tv and asked "Is that supposed to be a bear?" Daka nodded as she said, "It's a cartoon, they don't draw them to look very realistic." As Felix got closer to the tv he pointed to it and asked "How does it work?" As Felix looked behind it he asked "Is it also a yokai?" As Daka stood up and opened up a cabinet beneath the tv she said "It's not a yokai, everyone has one of these nowadays." Felix stared at her for a moment and then asked "And what is that rectangular thing your holding?" Daka held it for a moment and then said "This is a console, I'm actually surprised that this was here."

As Daka set it beside herself she pulled out two controllers and some games as she asked "Would you like to play?" Felix stared at the controllers for a moment and said "Play" in a confused way. As Daka hooked it all up Felix and her both sat in front of the tv each holding a controller as she said "In this game, we have to beat eight castles and save a princess while using power-ups to complete each level." As Felix walked into a strange-looking enemy his player died as he asked "Am I doing this right?" Daka stared at him for a moment as she said "Sort of, but you should've jumped on top of or over the enemy… not walk into it." As Daka played she avoided the enemy with ease as she said "Maybe if you watch how I do it you'll see what I mean." As Felix watched he mumbled, "This is so confusing."
