Chapter 8 Daka’s New Home

As Felix and the girl arrived at the apartment the girl nervously asked "Am I really going to be given a place to stay?" Felix glanced at her as he said "You should be given a place to stay, although I don't know if that voice was telling the truth." As he said this he heard the voice shout "Are you saying you doubt the power of your higher-ups?" Felix flinched as he mumbled, "Not really doubt their power, more so their words." The voice seemed pouty as it said "Well I assure you that someone as mighty as me will not go back on their word." As Felix walked up some steps he saw Silkie standing there outside of one of the doors staring at the nameplate. Felix stared at her for a moment and then said "That's probably your room." After staring at Silkie for a moment Felix turned around and began to walk back down the steps as he said "I think I have somewhere else I need to be." The girl grabbed onto his arm with a tear in her eye as she asked "Can you please show me where I need to go before you leave."

Felix stared at her for a moment and then glanced at Silkie who was now staring at them as he mumbled "I can't run now, we've already been spotted." As Silkie began to approach them Felix quickly and nervously said "I-it's nice to see you again!" Silkie stared at the girl beside him as she asked "Is this Daka? The girl who moved in next to you?" Felix glanced at the girl and said "Maybe? I didn't ask her name." Silkie stared at her closely and then asked "Are you Daka?" The girl nodded as she nervously said "Y-yes, that's me." Silkie wiped a tear from Daka's eye and then smiled as she said "I didn't expect you to be so young, it's quite surprising to say the least, feel free to ask me for anything that you may need." Daka stood there silently as she nodded while grabbing onto Felix's shirt. Silkie stared at Felix for a moment and then asked "Did you go out looking like that?" Felix glanced down at his own clothes and nervously said "Yeah… why?"

As Silkie lifted one of his arms Felix smiled awkwardly trying to mask his fear as she said "I wanted to bring this up earlier but… this type of outfit… it's very old." Silkie reached into her pocket and pulled out a phone as she said "Just give me a moment." After waiting for a few seconds she shown them the screen of her phone which had a boy wearing a hat, jacket, and sweatpants as she asked "Would you wear these if I got them for you?" Felix stared at it for a moment and then said "But I don't need those clothes." Silkie stared at him for a moment and then said "But with the clothes your wearing right now, you'd stick out way too much in public." Felix thought for a moment and then asked "Are these clothes really that strange?" Daka tugged on his sleeve as she said "I didn't wanna tell you because it seemed rude… but while we were walking here, I overheard some people talking about your clothes and your tail." Felix glanced at his tail as he said "But that voice said she'd hide my tail."

The voice began to laugh as it said "I did say that, however, I decided that I'd do this so I can still punish you for something later." Felix froze for a moment and then said "But that's… so unfair." The voice began to laugh as it said "When we meet in person I'll be sure to punish you well!" As Felix stood there looking upset Silkie stared at him and asked "I take it you were lied to by one of your higher-ups." Felix sighed as he said, "Yeah… and apparently I'm gonna get punished for believing them." As Daka peeked out from behind Felix she pointed to the phone and said "I don't know anything about your boss… but I think the outfit will help you stay out of trouble." Felix stared at the outfit for a few seconds and then asked "Will these ugly clothes really keep me out of trouble?" Silkie stared at his tail for a moment and then said "Well… it'll help a little." As Felix's clothes began to morph into the clothes in the image he asked "Does this help?"

As Daka and Silkie stared at him in amazement Silkie excitedly asked "Are you able to change into whatever outfit you see?" Felix took the hat off and held it in his hand as he said "Yeah, but all of the clothes I've been seeing aren't really… what I'm used to." As the hat vanished he said, "Also, I'm technically naked." Silkie glanced at him from head to toe as she said "Maybe I will get you those clothes after all." As Silkie got closer she asked, "Why do you smell like garbage?" Felix took a step back as he awkwardly laughed and said "Long story, maybe it's better untold." As Silkie walked around him towards Daka she asked "Would you like me to help you into your new home?" Daka got closer to Felix as she said "I-I'd prefer if he showed me around." Silkie glanced at Felix with a smile as she said "Of course… you'll be coming too… right?" Felix stared at her with a look of despair as he thought "Why is she trying to drag me along, is she planning to eat me in her room and blame it on her?"

As he stood there Daka pulled on his sleeve and softly asked "Will you?" Felix stared at her annoyed as he paused for a moment and then said "Fine… let's go." As they entered the apartment Felix twitched and said "It's cold?" As they stood by the door Silkie glanced at him and said "It seems like her apartment has an ac unit." As they flicked the light on Daka peeked out from Felix's back and seen a pink couch with an end table and lamp, the room had a ceiling fan, a bookshelf, a rug with a table on it in front of the couch, a fridge, and even a tv. Felix stared at the room for a few seconds and then heard Silkie say "This apartment is much nicer than yours Felix." Felix glanced around the room and then at Silkie as he asked "Is it?" Silkie nodded as she said, "It's much better, yours only has a worn-out mattress in the corner, but everything in this room appears to be brand new." Silkie glanced around the room and then walked over to the couch and pushed down on the cushions.

After pushing down on the cushions she glanced at Daka and said "It appears your couch can also pull out into a bed." Felix stared at the couch confused as he mumbled "What is all this futuristic crap she's talking about?" Felix continued to stand there not understanding a word as he pointed behind himself and asked "Can I just go?" As he said this Daka's grip got tighter as she said "Just a while longer… please." Felix let out a long and loud sigh as he said "Okay… just another couple minutes… and then I'm leaving." As Silkie walked over to the tv she grabbed the remote and said "Silkie whoever set up your apartment must've really put a lot of consideration into this." As Silkie set the remote down she walked over to the fridge and opened it revealing that it was full of food. Silkie stared at it all for a moment and then closed it to see a note on the front of the fridge that read "This will be restocked regularly, please enjoy your meals."

Silkie stared at the note for a moment and said "Seems like this person really cares about you Daka." As Silkie approached Felix and Daka he flinched and thought "Oh no, she must've gotten bored and decided she's going to eat me right now instead of waiting." As Silkie stopped in front of Felix she leaned to her left and stared at Daka as she asked "Is there a reason your hiding shins Felix?" As Silkie asked Daka moved further behind Felix and silently said "I'm not very good with people." Silkie thought for a moment and then said "Oh… then it must've been quite scary when I just invited myself over here… right?" As Daka nodded Silkie bowed and said "I'm sorry that I've bothered you." As Silkie walked past them and out the door Felix let out a sigh of relief and mumbled "Looks like I might get to live another day after all." Once Silkie was gone he heard Lilac shout "Which one of you hurt Silkie's feelings!" As she was shouting Felix flinched and thought "I spoke too soon!"
