The first class.
Literally today is the first class at this renowned academy. Before class was a kind of free one given to socialize, and Arthur magnificent failed at that. Though, it is not a big problem. Since he is already friends with two key figures of the class – August, the crown prince and Shin – the grandson of Sage and Guru, the students often also come near him to befriend him.
Better to say it as a perk of being friends with two of the most eye-catching figures. But that was all not. Arthur underestimated himself, but his looks were more eye-catching than anyone else. It was matching with August, no maybe more than that.
In handsomeness, he was threshold above Shin and August making many girls swoon over him. Even the girls in the S class occasionally take glimpses of him. But before anyone can reach him, both Violet and Yuri like some guardians are protecting him unknown to him.
Now, all of them instead of being in classroom, are accompanying homeroom teacher – Alfred Marcus to the practice hall. They are S class. And the first class – the practical one so that the teacher can gauge the abilities of the students and can make sure all the students are fitted to be in S class.
Students can be demoted and uplifted according to the scores. It is very rare, but it happens that some students fall from S class, and lower-class students climb up with persistence and hard work.
All the students were very hyped up to see what they are going to learn today. After all the reputation of academy speaks for itself.
The Magic Academy mainly consists of two big school buildings. The first one where their class was situated was the building for the classroom of all grades. And the second building is where all the clubs, research rooms, practice room and other kind of miscellaneous rooms are situated.
Clubs. Just like it's name, it a group created by students to research about a certain field. The students are free to choose, and there must be some certified number of members as well.
And currently Marcus-sensei was telling all of them about these clubs.
"The research clubs, they are similar to extracurricular activities or so to speak. The study of emission type of magic – the Offensive magic research society.
The research of producing various magic tools by taking advantage of magic enchantment – Life Improving research society.
The study of body strengthening magic – Body language research magic, and so on."
Marcus-sensei started to give the examples of clubs, one by one. Arthur who listened was very intrigued. Originally, he thought that there was no magician who use his body as an attack option, but after knowing that there is a body strengthening club, he was very surprised.
It made him think that at least the people here are not waste after all.
After coming to this place, Arthur have faced many enemies. From knights to magicians of different scale. And he have always noticed one thing. And that is the people here like to have flashy magic.
Like a fireball. To cast it, they chant like some chunnibyou and attack the enemy in a flashy way. It doesn't have that much power and to be truth it is just waste of magic power.
In the end, the main use of magic is to kill people. These people just don't understand it. Magic evolved from time to time to kill people more efficiently. And that's why noble use it in such a flashy way to integrate fear into common masses.
But in the time, they forgot the real meaning of it. That to kill someone, you don't need so much power. Life is a very fragile thing. Just a stab can end a life.
Then why waste power by launching a big fireball to burn the whole man alive?
And that's why in fights, Arthur mostly use swords to kill people. With small magic, and using his physical strength he can pretty much kill anyone in one-in-one fight.
"What happened, Arthur-sama?"
Violet noticed Arthur face and asked him.
"Oh! It's nothing. I was just intrigued at the body language club."
"What?! Arthur-san, you are also interested in body language club?!"
Julius who heard came to him excitedly since he felt as if he found a comrade. Julius originally was a knight, but being a retainer to prince he attended the magic academy to serve him.
"That's right. It is a very practical club. It is a kind of waste that magicians don't train their bodies. I think not training the body just because you are magician as a waste and idiotic approach."
"Oh! I am very interested to listen your thoughts, Arthur."
August who beside also listened him came near him. Many other students also opened their ears to listen what Arthur has to say. Even Marcus-sensei was very interested to listen his approach.
All of them stopped at the middle to listen to what Arthur has to say. Specially August gravely listened to him since he learned a lot just being with him.
"You all, how do to think magic evolved? How magic came to form and it began to progress?"
"How magic evolved…."
Everyone was suddenly taken aback with this sudden question since all of them really didn't think about it. They just learned magic and used it. Who cares about how it came?
"Maybe it is used to fight of the darkness. You mostly everyone is afraid of darkness."
August came up with the most formal answer.
"Incorrect."
"Maybe it is used to burn forests or create houses."
Shin who was listening said giving his opinion.
"Incorrect."
After listening the top two leaders giving wrong answers, the rest of class kind of got a bit more nervous.
"It seems you all don't know the answer. You know, at least you as magicians should know about it."
"Well, tell us now, Arthur? How magic evolved?"
August asked him impatiently eager to know the answer.
"The reason for the evolution of magic is to kill people. To win wars. To massacre large amount people without hard effort. The reason for magic to evolve to kill more efficiently. when it comes to kill people, there is nothing more easy then using magic to kill."
