After reading 40 chapters I can say other than word choice in only very rare cases the world space, the characters, the development of the MC's abilities as well as emotional development throughout the story have been impeccable and I love how it's progressing. It's not even like the MC is overpowered into a godlike state, its simply he outsmarts his enemies and uses his abilities to their maximum effect and as nobody has figured out even when he hints at it he feeds and grows off their fear which only means he is capable of becoming stronger mid-fight if he can induce enough fear into his opponents. This novel is amazing and I love everything about it.
Story Development - Fact Paced and honestly to my liking but there is no sense of direction to where the plot will lead to in these 40 chapters Perhaps in the future we may know Character Design- The story is mainly focused on MC but i think the companions will become more important as it goes on MC is cold blooded and ruthless and in someways a psychopathic killer I like this type of mc since it presents us with what is described in novel and not like others where they just put antihero tag and they act like teenagers with hero syndrome saving girls all around World Background - Much hasn't been revealed yet So there's not much to say here Translation Quality - 5/5 Its good Overall a good one from trial's read And at least it ain't daily login system where mc hides behind and never reveals his strength until 200 chaps or something
A fast-paced story, I've enjoyed it till now. MC is cold-blooded and evil, not like those mc who try to act like they are evil. He kills anyone regardless of powerful or weak and innocent or evil, for his gain and fun, yes fun. Although the levelling of skills in the system is a bit confusing, everything else is fine.
I cant say anything that hasn't already been said, but I will still say. Dont get mad at the book for delivering what it promised, A true lord of terror This is one of the few original novels. Not copy and paste While their is some translation errors the structure of the chapters compensate for it heavily. 10/10 will read again
I think it’s good and it seems interesting I was expecting the mc to be an idiot who scared people and threatened people but never went through with it and I sorta assumed that he would start acting like an idiot for a girl but turns out he legitimately kills people and although he’s not the smartest he’s not stupid and he seems to be a bit of a sadist.
The MC of the novel is essentially a villain, which is pretty interesting to watch. The side characters that appear in more than one or two chapters are fleshed out pretty well, but the MC doesn't really have any traits other than being willing to do anything to become strong. The writing is very enjoyable. The pace of the story is great, and the MC increases in strength pretty quickly. Every new ability gets its chance to be in the spotlight, and you don't get the feeling that the powers he grows are Dues Ex Machinas since they are very in-line with the MC's skill set and aren't granted immediately before the problem arises. The last few chapters aren't as high quality as the rest of the book, so I guess the author wanted to stop writing for whatever reason. That's fine, as there are already lots of novels that have way too many chapters, but I still would have liked a more drawn out ending. I think it could have been done better even with just one or two more chapters.
I read to about chapter 45, so my review can only speak to that point in the story. I'll open by saying that this novel is very... different from most other novels on this site. It's one of the only translated novels I've stumbled across that has an out-and-out man-eating protagonist that has pretty much zero sympathy for his (former) fellow human beings. He starts killing people from chapter 1 and the various deaths of the cannon fodder only get more brutal and bloody as the chapters go on. It has a torture/gore-po*n vibe, similar to movies like Saw or what have you. All this could be a plus or a minus depending on your tastes, I can only say that it's quite different from the standard fare on this site. Also, it can be somewhat frustrating to read because, to continue with the horror movie comparisons, many of MCs victims are completely indistinguishable from your typical dim-witted horror movie protagonist. For example, in an early arc the MC does some bloody stuff and uploads it to Youtube (in order to farm fear points and power himself up), and shortly after that a team of paranormal investigator types are dispatched to suppress him. However, these paranormal investigators are the dumbest morons to ever walk the Earth, and spend the last moments of their lives bickering internally, with one (smart) person telling them to be cautious and the rest all condescending to him about how paranormal creatures that have just been born all have zero intelligence so the mission is zero-risk. ...this is after the MC has murderized some folks and uploaded it to Youtube remember. In short, the actual plot feels ridiculous and full of holes and the whole organization of paranormal investigators seems to be full of nothing but morons who constantly underestimate their opponents from top to bottom. But I could roll with that. I mean, like I said, it's really not much different to how a horror movie functions from a story structure perspective, which is kind of interesting to read. In the end, sadly, what killed this book for me was the translation. It was kind of semi-okay (not really) for the first 40 chapters, but the second you take a peek behind the paywall the quality immediately drops from like a 3-star to a 1-star. Instantly. In chapter 40 the text is still mostly coherent and the names are all kept straight, chapter 41 it turns into machine slurry and long-running characters all get different names that the translator can't even bother to keep consistent (even inside the same chapter). When the great female beauty character whose name was translated as "Warfarin" appeared, I really couldn't stand it anymore and gave up. So, reader beware: Expect barely edited MTL once you get past chapter 40.
To start, I’m not sure if this was originally made in English or a different language, but there are some grammatical erors In the English version but they can be overlooked. I over all enjoy the name of the main character because it always makes me think it’s Ned Flanders from the Simpsons, but some of the other names can be forgotten but I don’t put that to the author. The story progression is reasonable in my view as the idea of fear being used as a drug on some people is very realistic as adrenaline junkies do things like that often. At current I am around chapter 99, and I do find some of the interactions quite sythetic but that adds to the appeal as my view is the main character (when human) is ackward in most interactions and that is charming to me. Over all I would rate this book highly, and the prospect that it is using even higher. I do hope that the author of this book makes more works like this, wherever they are.
