Chapter 9 ''I'm sorry for dragging you here today, but this is the only way we can guarantee that you won't get caught by those people!",Barry whispered harshly to Lisa once they had arrived back at their secret hideout.",It's okay,I don't mind...I'm actually grateful that you guys brought me here.",she whispered back. Barry nodded before looking around the warehouse carefully. It was dark inside the warehouse and they didn't want to risk lighting a lantern to reveal their location to anyone that may be watching them. However, they did notice that one of the crates in which Lisa was tied up to had been moved around a lot during the past day so they both knew that someone might be inside watching them. Lisa had been unconscious throughout most of the ride to Barry's secret safe house and they hadn't managed to move her. Therefore,as much as Barry wished that they could have carried her with them, they couldn't have risked it and had decided to carry her themselves. Barry looked at his watch to find that it was nearing ten o'clock at night. He turned his attention back to Lisa when he heard a soft groan coming from her. A moment later she let out a small gasp as she opened her eyes and stared at Barry who was standing next to her. Then suddenly she screamed and tried desperately to pull her arms free from the rope. Unfortunately,it was quite difficult because her wounds had reopened during the night and she couldn't lift her hands to break the ropes anymore. After trying for nearly five minutes,Lisa gave up and started screaming hysterically. As soon as she realised what was happening, everyone froze,as they watched her struggle. There was no sign of pain anymore, her eyes were filled with fear instead. Even Joe seemed a little confused. ''Lisa...? What are you doing?,you're hurting yourself!",Barry said anxiously as he rushed to her side and gently grasped her wrists. Lisa shook her head frantically,as she tried to free herself from Barry's hold."Don't touch me!",She hissed angrily before pushing Barry away forcefully.",Leave me alone!",she cried softly in a hoarse whisper.",Come on,I know that something's going on...you can tell me.",Barry insisted."Just shut up and stay away from me! Don't talk to me!",Lisa shouted furiously before turning away from him as tears started filling her eyes.",Please,Lisa, just come with me and tell me what's going on. If you don't tell me the truth, then I might lose you again...",Barry warned softly but Lisa refused to budge. So,Barry reluctantly left the warehouse and started walking back the way he had come. After about three hundred meters, when Barry still hadn't come back yet,Barry started getting worried and started pacing up and down on the pavement. He couldn't stand to be apart from Lisa for another second. Five minutes passed without Barry being able to find him. He had completely given up hope on him by now,and decided that it must have been a mistake. After all,why wouldn't Barry be able to find his way back here if he was in such a big city like New York? But before he had a chance to give up,Barry emerged from a narrow alleyway with tears running down his cheeks.",Barry? Are you alright? Did they hurt you again?",he asked, fearing that the answer may be no and that he would have to return to the apartment without getting the information he needed. Barry nodded quietly. As soon as his eyes landed on Barry's bruised face,he instantly understood what had gone wrong.",Oh no...Barry,how long have I been out for? How did I get tied up? Where are you taking me? I promise,if we get out of this alive,I won't do anything stupid again...",Lisa babbled as she struggled harder and harder against her restraints, still hoping against hope that Barry would untie her.
