First class (Charms)

Connor was a bit nervous, but not for reasons that children in Hogwarts usually are.

He was a bit nervous of showing off too much, he knew the risk and consequences of his actions, and he knew that he would probably get assumed to be a second coming of Voldemort, so he did what he felt was normal in this case.

He took a shot before class.

Connor wasn't one to care about the kind of alcohol, it just needed to be strong enough to give him some courage.

Now he had a really opportunity to learn how to, essentially, become a god, so he wasn't going to take this for granted and he wanted the professors to know he was good, no he was not good, he was excellent and the world shall scream his name, and the mere mention shall be like a prayer passed through mouth to mouth, earning devotion on the young and restlessness on the old.

As he was exiting his dorm he reminded himself to wash his teeth, hard and extensively, he didn't want to be caught drinking.

Connor walked towards his first class which given the schedule given by professor Sprout he would have charms with the ravenclaws.

While on his way with the rest of the class, as they were being guided by one of the fifth year prefects, he turned to talk to one of his housemates Susan Bones.

"Hey how are you? My name is Connor" Connor tried to introduce himself, to at least have a decent rapport with his year mates.

Susan smiled and answer "I'm fine and you, name is Susan by the way"

"Susan Bones right? Any relation to Amelia Bones?" Connor tried to pry while already knowing the answer, he just wanted the firstie to be comfortable around him, and there was only one way.

"Yeah, she is my aunt" Susan replied, a little embarrassed.

"Wow that's so cool" Yes Connor went with the old fashioned and most well versed technique there is, calling someone cool.

"Really? I mean, yeah it is pretty cool" Susan said, a little more confident in herself, the only other person she knew from her house was Hannah and seeing the two of them talking she decided to enter the conversation.

"It is cool, my name is Hannah nice to meet you" Hannah said with a clear smile appearing a little more confident than her friend.

"Nice to meet you too, hope we can be friends."

And with that the little chit chat came to an end as they finally arrived at the charms classroom where the ravenclaws had already arrived, so without waiting they all got into sits, and Connor got the misfortune to sit next to Zacharias Smith, one of the supposed last known descendants of the Hufflepuff line.

A few minutes passed and then the short professor arrived into the room, and automatically Connor senses were on him, trying to gauge his strength and prowess in any measure he could, he was going to use the professors as milestones in power to surpass while being here, and meanwhile get all the knowledge he could from them.

"Well hello everyone, I must say it's a pleasure to meet all of you first let's do a roll call Hannah Abott" And with that the class started with a simple roll call as the professor got used to associating a name with a person.

At the end of the list was his name for which he only said here and when they were finally done the class started.

"What do you all think magic is?" Professor Flitwick asked, he didn't say what it was, he said what they thought it was. so Connor even though he knew there wasn't a concrete answer in the textbooks he had read he raised his hand.

"Yes, mister Reign, what do you think magic is?"

"Well it sure is a form of energy that exists in nature being that in the cases of wizards or plants or magical creatures, that must be formed by an amalgamation of both physical and soul like properties as the older a witch or wizard is they tend to be able to cast more complex and demanding magic this patron also corresponding to magical creatures, and the plants most of the time tend to have better effect when they are ripe or they have bloomed, and soul like as there is no organ perce that has been able to be seen to produce magical energy so the answer must be that it is either in our blood itself being able to remain undetected even though we studied it, or maybe it's in our cells, or it's attached to our souls and as such implies the meaning of a connection between the two." Connor went on his personal rant, mostly it sounded a little angry, as Connor himself was looking before that into what magic was, so this rant was just to take that frustration off.

"So your final verdict mister Reign?" Asked a curious professor Flitwick, eager to know what he was gonna conclude with.

"It is a force of nature, as much as gravity is" Connor finished with and he could see Flitwick grinning,

"My, my, we could have a scholar in our hands, in some parts you were correct and in some parts we have yet to know for sure, but it was the best answer I have received in my time teaching, and for that 10 points for hufflepuff" Flitwick was ecstatic and as such he continued his class with a very happy smile on his face.

"I know most of you must be anxious to know more of the intricate nature of magic but such a topic is only covered much later in your sixth or seventh year so you must wait until then, but for now let me teach you all a charm and then we shall get to a little bit of theory, the charm I will be teaching you is called "Lumos" and is a charm that generates a light from the tip of your wand." Professor Flitwick entered into a little more of detail of what the charm does and how to do it and then encouraged them to try and kept an eye on Connor trying to see if he was going to be good at it.

And what a surprise it gave him to see the kid do the charm right in the first attempt "Wonderful, wonderful, five more points to hufflepuff for excellent casting" Flitwick announced happily, he really loved giving points

"Professor I have a question" Connor said

"Yes, what is it?"

"We can probably alter the color of the light without changing the wand movement or the name right"

"And what made you think that if I may ask" Professor Flitwick got even more excited.

"Well it is a charm for generating light and even the book never implies or explicitly says a color, and without any other mention I deduce we could do it, but I decided to ask before trying, didn't want to risk anything"

"Why don't you try then"

Connor gave a flick on his wand and a red light came out of his wand tip.

"Excellent five more points for hufflepuff"
