We have to go back to the apocalypse

After 2 days, the holidays are over and now I have to go back to my old ways.

In the last few days, Halley's mood has improved a lot, although she still doesn't like sleeping alone.

As for the old man, I had several talks with him, it is quite interesting to talk to someone with so much experience.

Anyway, our next stop is Boise, which will be a 5 hour trip so I will have to prepare everything.

After getting everything ready, I went to wake up Halley to leave.

It is currently 7:00 AM, so we should be arriving in Boise by 12.

I still don't feel very confident about that happy camp, but I doubt they'll let us go the other way, so what difference does it make.

In the last few days I practiced a bit with the Weekend and now I can use it with one hand, although I still have to improve my aim a bit.

After putting everything in the car, I called Halley and got everything ready to go.

The old man was saying goodbye from the entrance which seemed strange to me.

"Aren't you coming old?" I asked curiously.

"No young man, my place is here and I'm honestly too old for so much action" Noah said with a smile.

"Whatever you say old man" I said as I shrugged my shoulders.

After a few minutes Halley left the house and got into the car along with her things.

"Mr. Ken, didn't you forget anything?" Halley asked curiously.

"I'm supposed to say that" I said a little in shock.

"I'm not the one who forgot the coffee last time" Halley said with a victory smile.

Ok, that hurt.

After getting everything ready, I started the car, said goodbye to the old man, and drove to Boise.

I left the water purifier with the old man, since he is going to need it more than I do.

I had to get some gas just in case, but nothing to comment on that trip.

We've been traveling for an hour right now, and Halley seems more spirited.

"Mr. Ken, how is Boise like?, Is it as pretty as the lake?" Halley said expectantly.

"If I'm honest, I have no idea, also on the radio they said there was some kind of camp in that place, so I don't know what to expect" I said calmly.

"You should be careful Halley, don't stray too far and watch out for people" I said with concern.

"Why Mr. Ken?" Halley asked curiously.

"I'm not convinced by that camp, I doubt it's a safe place, if I'm not mistaken it should be a kind of barrier between the zombies and Montana" I said with a warning tone.

At this, Halley nodded with the most serious face she can make, which is adorable.

At least she's better now, although she seems more understanding than usual.

After three hours, I turned on the radio and waited for a new piece of news before continuing on our journey.

When it was 10:10 AM, I thought there would be no message today, but the radio reacted a moment later.

{People of the United States, in the last days 52% of our population has been affected by the virus, most of the remaining population is in Helena-Montana while a few are still scattered throughout the country, if you are one of these, it is recommended that you go to the Boise-Idaho camps before arriving in Montana, any change in the information will be broadcast by all the stations at the same time, so stay tuned}.

52%?, Apparently less than I thought, I guess we really should go to Boise.

The ride was uneventful and smooth, and after another two hours we reached Boise.

Upon arrival I could notice the presence of many stops and people on the street.

All the military are heavily armed, and I had to stop several times for a review.

After this we arrived at the camp.

Upon arrival, I could see many people with grim expressions outside the entrance, some more than others.

After getting out of the car and walking a bit, the first thing we were greeted with was a woman of about 23 years old at the entrance to the camp.

"Name and profession" said the woman without energy.

"Ken River, Mechanical Engineer and she is Halley" I said calmly as I pointed to Halley behind me.

Hearing that the woman widened her eyes in surprise.

"Sir, did you say that you are a mechanical engineer?" the woman asked expectantly.

"That's right, is there a problem?" I asked in confusion.

"Wait here a moment" said the woman and then run off somewhere.

I don't remember doing anything illegal so I guess there is nothing to fear.

"Mr. Ken, where did the lady go?" Halley asked confused.

"No idea, we just have to wait for her to come back" I said as I sat on the sidewalk.

"Mr. Ken, how can you be so lazy" Halley said in disappointment.

"I'm not going to wait for her to come back while I'm on my feet, it's not like she's the Queen of England or something like that" I said casually.

After a few minutes, a woman and several people in military clothing arrived.
