Chapter Two-New Guy In School

Getting into the school wasn't difficult. Yes, having information and a guardian to sign for you is very useful to get into a school, but a small mind spell was easy to manipulate a human to let me into the school. All I had to do was convince him that I was here because my parents, who were in the city, had sent me here to teach me to learn more of responsibility. And he just gave me a schedule and said that I would get a student to show me around.

I waited, sitting in his office for a few minutes as he called someone over the intercom and it made me remember about how I used to be very quiet back in my old school and most of the time when I did speak, it was sarcastic.

Should I be nice to people here? What if I say something wrong and they all go against me? I could go without saying anything. It would be a great way to get past highschool and find the magical source in this school. I would just have to make sure I don't get caught up in a bad situation.

The door opened slowly and a cute boy poked his head in. He had blonde curls and big blue eyes. His cute chubby face had freckles and he had the cutest smile when he walked in. But something was off about him. He didn't look dangerous and yet as he passed where I was sitting and walking towards the principal's desk, he seemed to confident. Did he have something to do with the weird waves of magic?

"Hello Mr. Sanders! May I ask why I was called to the office this morning?" He asked the principal. My eyes focused on the way he moved. So carefree and flexible.

Mr. Sanders straightened up in his seat, a serious look on his face and he casted his hand out towards me, making my shrink back a little.

"This is Vane Stone, he is a new student to this school and needs to know his way around. I'm asking you to do the honors because of your great attitude. He could need it." The principal looked towards me, to which I only stared blankly.

Then he turned around. His eyes looked at me for the first time and his eyes seemed so much bigger now that I was getting the best look at it I could without looking weird.

Something shone in his eyes. He didn't make the face that I thought someone would give me like at the old school in the city where they just can't believe they have to talk to someone and show them around the school. But this boy looked at me as if he couldn't wait to see my personality. He had the shine in his eyes like he could already tell who I was or where I was planning to go for the future. It was like he knew me entirely.

My eyes quickly diverted from his very positive gaze, not being able to stand the look he was giving me. How can anyone have such a positive sun shining in their eyes?

"Of course, Mr. Sanders. I would love to and it's nice to meet you, Vane Stone."

"You...you don't have to say my last name. Just call me Vane." I interrupted him speaking. He smiled.

"Okay, Vane, would you like to go ahead and get a tour?" He smiled.

"Sure." I muttered, standing up and following him carefully as he left the office. The hallway seemed a lot colder than it was before when I entered the school, and I looked down the hallway as I let go of the wall. "I..." I paused, watching how he turned around at me confused, "I never got your name."

He smiled, holding his hand out to shake. "Owen. My name is Owen Dupli." He said. I took his hand, not saying anything but shaking and letting it go.

"So, what, in your opinion, is the best thing about this school?" I ask as we walk down the hallway and I looked into the bulletproof windows on the doors, seeing the different teachers and students.

He hummed, smacking his hands together and rubbing them for a second then smiled, "Well I guess I can't decide. There is the amazing performances of the drama club or the recycling program being all over the news. Or even the-well the many different structures and things that the school holds that they take for granite."

"I see, you're that type of person." I claimed, making him look towards me with a questioning look.

"What type of person am I?" He asked, making me slow a bit and stuff my hands in my pocket.

"Well, you're so positive and look at everything as if it was beautiful. Do you ever see anything as if it were a hopeless cause that can't be fixed?" I asked.

He gave a small chuckle, brushing his soft curls out of his face as it fell over his eyes and he shook his head. "No, I guess I don't ever believe something is to broken." He spoke so kindly, it was almost like he knew I was thinking about myself. Of course, he probably didn't.

"I see." I answered before looking into another room. "And this school doesn't have any-bad people? Y'know the drama and the popular people."

"Oh, well, yeah I would say there always is, but I choose to ignore it. And you should too, because things can get very violent. Like, not violent as in school fight and rumors. Murders have been caused and people get out of hand because of it."

"Murders?" I questioned, "Don't you think there would police here to stop this?" I asked.

He laughed, shaking his head, "There is. In the front of the school and the back of the school. But that's it." He shrugged, "It's a small town though. They are the worst cops I've ever seen, but I haven't really left the town. It's expensive to move to other places."

"Is it really?" I asked, not realizing I had just said that and immediately stuttering to find a way to explain myself, "My parents had sent me here so I had really not paid for anything. In fact I need a job so I can actually afford some food around this town." I explained quickly.

Owen lit up, "The cafe I work at needs hiring, we could be work buddies. I'll have a word with the boss and you can get an interview." He exclaimed happily.

"Oh, I don't know." I back a little away as he started practically bouncing around, "Oh c'mon it'll be fun. And you would be perfect for it, I know you will. It's not very hard."

I sighed, "Alright, you convinced me. I'll tr-"

"Owen!" Someone called down the hallway, which made me turn my attention to two tall boys walking towards us.

One man was skinny, not muscular but not to plain either. He had dirty blonde hair and looked like the type of boy who woke up early and got ready so they could be the best looking person. If it wasn't for the fact he wore a shirt that said drama club on it, I would have thought he was one of those high school football players I always hear about. The other one was the definition of the strong serious nerd of the school. Tall, wears glasses, his black hair brushed to perfection and a notebook in hand. He had this aura that told you not to mess with him.

"Oh Levi, Brian, I didn't know you two would be wandering the hallways." Owen smiled, "Isn't it the middle of class? It's very unlike you guys to skip, especially you Brian." He added, looking at them with the type of look a mother would if they were scolding a child.

"You didn't come to class once you were called to the office by Mr. Sanders, so we skipped to see what you were up too." Brian then looked down at me. "I see that he must have asked you to show the new kid here around the school. Well, nice to meet you. I am Brian Bandit and I hope that you are of great company and get the education needed to move on to college." He outstretched his hand in a very firm way.

I licked my lips and nodded slowly, suddenly very confused on what's going on. But I took his hand and shook it firmly to match his seriousness so he wouldn't immediately think I was disrespectful. But as I shook his hand, he gave me a questioning look. Had he sensed my magic aura? Was he one of the reasons I was feeling these waves of magic from the school? Or did he think I was weird because I was trying to be firm but also looked like a small noodle who shrank when I first saw them.

"I'm Vane Stone, but you can just call me Vane." I gave the best smile I could for someone who couldn't stop glancing over at Mr. Drama club football player guy.

He stared down at me as I once again glanced at him and he had this face of someone who really doesn't trust people easily.

"I'm Levi," He says, "So Vane, what brings you to this school at such an odd time?"

Great! I could already tell he was going to be difficult to deal with. He had already given that feeling of dread that makes people want to stay in bed just to avoid them. But for one reason or another, I couldn't stop staring at him. His green eyes sparkled down even though they didn't hold anything but suspicion.

"My parents sent me here to get some of that-" I sucked air through my teeth, "Good culture from a small town. The cities get to crowded and too much at some point I guess." I shrugged. I looked at his shirt. "Owen has told me how great the drama club is. What is the drama club working on now?" I asked.

"A play I wrote." He proudly announced, "And the songs to. If it's good enough, which it will be, I will get to be an actor when I'm older for sure. People will be asking me to act in movies all the time, I know it." As he spoke he sounded cocky but not in the overly horrible annoying way.

"Well, I hope that works out. Maybe I could come by and see it, you look very gr-" I gulped, cutting myself off. "You look very artistic."

"Well thank you," He nodded, "I hope to see you there." He then patted me on the shoulder and the two turned and started down the hallways, leaving Owen and I in their tracks. I could only watch as he disappeared, in awe and amazement.

He was beautiful.
