Chapter Three-The Six Crystals

I sat down in the rumble of wood in the home, watching the sun start to fall as the first day of school made me tired. And I didn't even do any work.

So now that I went through the school and didn't find anything, I made the decision. There was something there. Something on that school was making me feel a chilling feeling down my spine. And somehow, the longer I stayed there it got stronger and worst. I haven't felt the feeling before, but somehow I knew exactly what it was. There was a magical item in the school.

That's why I laid on the ground with my back against the wall and flipping through my book of witchcraft and spells. The "normal stuff" were just things that told me about how to cast the spells what they did and certain items did certain things. Nothing stood out. Not until I got a shock from flipping the page. As soon as I looked at the next page, my eyes widened.

The Six Crystals. The Six crystals were very dangerous to both humans and magical species. More on humans because of their easily manipulated minds.

The first crystal was anger and frustration, which always causes people to be easily angry and upset when around it and causes a lot of problems to others.

The second crystal was sadness, made for happiness to have a weakness and causes emotional effects to people near or around it.

The third crystal was depression, made for people to second guess themselves, bringing down people's ego and causing more than just cutting but also suicide.

The fourth crystal was pride, usually giving people so much pride that they say and do things that people with normal common sense wouldn't do.

The fifth crystal was affection, giving people an overwhelming feeling to attack themselves to someone and want all their attention and wasn't afraid to stalk, ruin relationships, and huge amounts of jealousy.

The sixth crystal was bloodlust. It only took effect when one of the other crystals come in contact with it and makes people want blood of someone they had been betrayed by. It causes them to want to kill and collect their blood then spread the blood into waters so that people could see the blood of them and know that they once betrayed someone.

"Oh goodness," I held a hand to my mouth in horror, my eyes widened. "I can't let people get ahold of these crystals."

I then flipped through to a familiar page and saw the spell that could absorb and keep the crystals in my own magic so that only I could bring it in and out of the world for people.

"Okay, okay," I whispered, "So I have to find it, cast the spell, and no one will take affect to it anymore." I wrote the spell on a piece of paper and shut the book, hiding it under a wood plank.

Standing up, I pushed outside of the abandoned house and looked around. I needed a small empty area to practice the spell. If I could do that then I could see how hard and long it would take for me to cast the spell and stop the magic from ruining.

The sky was dark with only the stars shining around the streets and I tucked the paper up my sleeve and walked quickly. Not many people were on the streets but I was quick to slip into an alleyway so I wouldn't be seen.

Waiting for others to move by, I pulled out the paper and quickly picked up a object on the ground to practice on. Of course it was an alleyway so my stupid self picked up a piece of glass. The glass was huge and sharp and I lifted it, using my magic to let the glass float to make the spell.

"absorb and trap, bring the object to a stop, keep safe in this spell, say it's farewell." But as I was about to finish the spell, the glass suddenly shattered from the pressure and a piece slung to my hand and it sliced open my hand.

Hissing out in pain, I dropped the paper and backed away with blood running down my hand.

"What was that?" Someone spoke from outside the alleyway.

My eyes widened and I turned to run down the alleyway. I was quick, holding my bloody hand close to me as I ran, not trying to bring attention to myself then I already have.

I got away from the alleyway, sighing and slowly trailing down the streets. Blood was still spilling from my hand and it stung when air hit the wound, but biting my lip I didn't do anything.

Ding Ding

My phone buzzed and I sighed, pulling out the phone and checking it.

Derek: Vane, where the fuck are you? I'm giving you a day to come back to the house and we can forget this ever happened. If you don't then I'll come look for you.

I brought the hand that was bloody to type back, not wanting to call him because I know hearing his voice would make me give in.

I'm not coming back Derek. I'm breaking up with you and I'll be starting my life all over with a new way of living. If you come looking for me I'll get the police.

Suddenly I collided with someone and gasped, closing my eyes as I got ready to hit the ground. Shaking in fear, I felt someones arm wrap around mine and I looked up in surprise.

"Levi?" I felt him raise me up fully before letting me go.

"Sorry Vane, I didn't see you walking there." He brushed his hand in my hair, "So small."

What was wrong with him? At school he acted like I was the worst person because I was new and now he was acting like an old friend.

"I am not small," I shooed his hand away, "I wasn't looking so there wasn't a reason for apologizes from you."

Before you could react, he snatched my hand that I had shooed him with and inspected it.

"Vane, what on earth did you do to your hand? And why are you wandering around with your hand bleeding. It's dangerous. Especially here." Levi said, "C'mon, let's get back to my apartment. We can patch it up."

"Oh-! No that's okay. I'll just head back to my own place and get something for it."

"In an abandoned house?"

I looked at him surprised, "You knew where I've been at."

"It's been all over town that a creepy boy has just been in the abandoned house. You're lucky no one had tried to stop you." not like they could.

"So why is it not safe to be out here with...this" I gestured to my hand.

He huffed, looking around as if trying to say he couldn't tell me. Does he know of the crystals? No he would have to be a magical species. Maybe he is one. How could I tell?

"Let's just get you back to my place." He said, gently holding my wrist and carefully dragging me towards wherever he lived.

As he dragged me I couldn't help but imagine that he was Derek, dragging me back inside to hit me so that no one could see, even though everyone close by were miles away, and me just taking it. It made my heart drop and my stomach ached uneasily.

I didn't look at him, making myself look down at the ground and repeat that it wasn't Derek's hands on me. It was someone willing to help me not get an infection. We started out rough but I know it'll get better between us. At least that was what I was saying.

His apartment wasn't as small as I assumed it was, and he brought me into the apartment and as he let me go, I backed away a little.

Levi turned and locked the door.

"Levi, are you back already? I thought you said you wanted to go on a walk so you could memorize your script." A familiar voice rang through the apartment.

Then, to somehow get the attention more on me, Owen walked out of the hallway and when his eyes landed on me, he smiled.

"Vane, so nice to see you!" He exclaimed, walking over to hug me but Levi suddenly moved in front of me, stopping Owen, who gave him a confused look.

"Let's patch up his hand before any hugs." Levi brought Vane's hand up and Owen's eyes widened at the bloodied hand.

"Oh my god! Are you okay? What happened?" He asked, walking over to me and bringing my hand to inspect. "I'll get the bandages and you stay right there."

Levi sat me down on the stool and sat down himself.

"So how exactly did you get hurt like this?" He asked.

I shrugged, "Honestly, I picked up a huge piece of glass on the ground and might have gotten cut." I blushed from embarrassment.

Levi looked at me as if I was stupid, "I'm sorry, did you really just say you picked up a piece of glass? What goes through that head of yours?"

Owen came back in with bandages and handed them to Levi, who started carefully cleaning the cut and bandaging it up. I blushed slightly at him touching my hand with such gentleness that reminded me of when my mother used to take care of me.

"It was stupid, I know." I mumbled.

"Hey, your phone buzzed." Owen said. I tensed, knowing it was the response from the message I sent Derek. I cleared my throat as I pulled my phone out, opening the messages.

Derek: The police, don't be ridiculous Vane. I can kill them and anyone else you think will stop me. If you think you can break up with me, you'll regret it. Now I'm giving you one last chance and if you aren't back by tomorrow, I'll send Oliver after you.

I gulped, about to put my phone down when I heard Levi speak behind me.

"Who's Derek?" He questioned, trying to read it over my shoulder.

I slammed my phone down and glared at him as if he had done something wrong. He put his hands up in the air.

"Sorry, sorry, I shouldn't have been so nosy." He said.

I huffed, "Whatever." But I couldn't help but smile slightly. owen and Levi were so nice to me even though I wasn't in their friend group.
