Invasion and Reunions

Tell me something light.

Something to make up for the darkness in my world, in my head and my soul. Because standing in a vast group of people I could see nothing but darkness in their souls. There souls tainted by the lives they destroyed while living a luxurious life with their allegiance pledged to a kingdom that was bound to break.

"Our brilliant king John III was death has weight on us all heavily" I speak with the occasionally tear dedicated for my fallen spouse. "And his death will be honoured, with justice! The servant that poisoned our dearest king was a assassin sent by Drulow" I confess, my hand resting over my heart with the hope it could aid the act. "Now Drulow has beckoned for war, and we shall answer their pleads" I announce as I draw a sword from the knight next to me. And the crowd erupts in agreement. War was coming just as the rain was falling.

"He believes Gehenna is still alive" I admit to Benjamin as he sighs in anguish.

"I know he does Beth, but it is only a thoughtful wish" Benjamin justifies as I scoff while he continues walking the corridor.

"But is murder justified?" I ask him as he stops.

"What do you know?" He ask me in a serious tone.

"I am one of Gehenna's ladies, I was the only one he didn't kill when she was assumed dead. Because of that he confides in me. He know I was the reason he lived all those years ago. But watch the queen carefully!" I warn Benjamin as he grabs my arm once again, stopping me.

"You, Beth, are one of my most trusting companions. My friend! I know about Emilia, but is any secret of your kings worth a life?" He ask me, almost compelling me. Years ago I would have broke, telling the truth but now, deep within the walls of this palace the truth laid dead in here.

"One of the many things I value about you is your morals Ben, but don't mistake that for stupidity! I will not risk my life and commit treason. I do not plan to meet Gehenna so soon! But the queen is not carrying a child. I know that William has made that impossible, she must be taken from this place before she takes her final breath here!" I urge him as I pull my arm from Benjamin's loose grasp and continue walking the halls. And suddenly stop with a sudden chill falling down my spine at a yell.

"CASTLE IS BEING INVADED!" The yell coming from a knight as he runs towards the front doors of the castle and before I know it Benjamin grabs my hand and leads me deeper into the castle.

****************

"The men have successfully invaded the castle" the general says his reddish gray hair blocking his black eyes.

"Great" I smirk as I stand there. "But there are sacrifices that are made in war" I say standing in front of him as his eyes stare, begging me to not say anything. "And this is one of them!" I complete my sentence as I snap his neck.

"More gruesome by the day my beloved" I hear as I smile. That voice I was waiting for.

"My best assassin has arrived" I declare as she kisses me as I deepen the kiss my fingers tangled within her hair.

"Now we can be together, with King John gone all is well" she admits as I smile, my lips against hers.

"Not yet" I halt her hopes as I smirk, bringing my eyes up to hers. "Just one more problem I have to take care of" I notify her as she nods, her head resting in my hand as I bring her closer to me, with her unknowingly walking into the blade of my sword.

"An- Anastasia?" She calls one of my many alias as I smirk.

"It's Gehenna Cain, darling!" I break my silence as she falls to the ground, staining the grass with her blood.

Robbing her body as I throw her cloak over me and dropping my dress to the ground and changing into my armour.

"God help Drulow!" I pray for them as I smirk and start on my way.

***************

"In here!" Benjamin whispers as he locks me in the throne room and turning around we see the king and some of his nobles. The guards surrounding them with people in robes bowing in the front.

"Come, lady Beth and dearest Benjamin!" William suggest as we nod and appease his request.

Standing beside the nobles and behind the knights. Pulling out the rosary from behind me as I place my hand on the last bead and pray in a whisper. With every bead and prayer finished I could hear a groan from outside the doors of the throne room. The dismay displayed among the room as I could see William shifting in his seat.

"William!" I hear Queen Natalia shout in fear as William doesn't even turn slightly to her. "I love you" she admits as Willam sits of the edge of his chair. Natalia hand trying to snake around William's arm as he flicks her hand off.

Me and Benjamin look at each other, me not once breaking my prayer.

And suddenly one last groan escapes the corridor as suddenly a blast of air breaks through the throne room with a royal guard men on the floor.

With the knights jumping at the doors break suddenly a figure emerges. Wearing a black cloak concealing their identity and armour on their wrist with a sword drenched in blood. As their steps quickened looking to the guard in the floor and sticking the sword in and slowly twisting it as the cloaked figure finally looked up. With nothing to see but a shadow concealing their face.

"CHARGE!!!!" Commands the head knight as I shiver. But no matter how hard I tried I could never bring my eyes to leave the fight.

"This assassin will kill us all Benjamin!" I tell the truth as Benjamin looks to me.

"Look at me, Beth!" Benjamin says holding my face in his hands as my rosary slips out of my hand. "Get behind me!" He orders as I take a deep breath and look at him and nod. "Good. If anything happens to me, run!" He advises me as I watch Benjamin pick up a fallen soldiers sword and charges into battle. William still sitting in his throne.

"YOU ARE GOING TO WATCH YOUR BEST FRIEND DIE?" I tell my question to William as he looks to me and then back to the men fighting the one cloaked figure.

Watching Benjamin as he is pushed down while the cloaked figure hits one man in the face ,where his armour lacked, with a dagger. Tripping the other four as they return to. Benjamin, raising their sword above Benjamin as his eyes widen and his hands raise.

Unable to just watch I grabbed a deceased knights sword from there loosened grip. Running to the cloaked figure with the sword raised.

Close enough to the cloaked figure to stab it suddenly it catches the blade, blood emerging from their hand.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you!" They warn as with one swift push I'm down to the ground.

"BETH!" I hear Benjamin call my name.

With the cloaked figures palm open I see that there is no longer any blood or cut from my blade. Looking up to the cloaked figure as they pick me up. "Gehen-" I start before I can even finish pronouncing her name. As the cloaked figure kicks me to the wall as Benjamin stands behind her.

Before he can speak she hits him aside the head as I lay there, my back on fire because of the pain the wall inflicted.

As the cloaked figure walks pass the many knights lying in the floor as the cloak approaches King William.

And instead the figure bows to him.

With a sword in his hand as he stands the cloaked figure looking up to him. "TELL ME ONE GOOD REASON I SHOULDN'T KILL YOU!" William demands as the cloaked figure laughs. Yanking the hood down revealing their identity.

"Because you shouldn't kill your queen" Gehenna speaks as I stand to my feet. The look of terror in my eye.

"Gehenna" I call her name as I see only a smirk appear on her face.
