Days and Years are Worth No Existence

When people are asked to relive traumatic experiences their mind protects them, until it has no other choice than to subject it human to the reality. Faced with the tiniest of reminders it tells the story again, scaring us. Many choose to forget, even if they can't. But very few choose to remember with every part of them, and I wanted to remember every bit of how it happened and who I needed to kill!

"Wil…l..am" I groan out, my legs tired as I trudged through the leaves and the doughy mud.

And that was when I saw it. A part of me wanted to ignore it, say he was still here, close my eyes and imagine myself in his arms, his voice telling me I was going to be okay. But I wasn't, it was all wrong.

"NO!" I yell through the empty forest as the birds evacuate with the sound of my heart breaking. "DON'T! PLEASE NO!" I beg to the universe out loud. I couldn't handle this as I ran into the water to catch the handmade raft. And I saw him.

Laying upon that raft was my dearly departed father, burnt to a crisp and his clasped palm. As I forced his palm open I saw something that forced my philosophy to change.

I always thought I was here to protect the innocent, to heal and help. Why else would I be given a gift? But looking at my fathers remains it all changed.

There he laid, his palm over his heart with his wedding ring inside. A ring that symbolizes the marriage to a woman that forgot about him, that tried to kill his child. At that moment I knew, some people were just weak, and I could not be one of them.

"DAD??!!!" I cried out as I stood in the water, the cold kisses of the lake against my legs. That was the last time I cried. From then on I only answered to my queen and rightfully so.

******************

Three years later since Gehenna disappeared and still nothing had changed. A darkness thrived over the court, and somehow Gehenna was to blame, even in death people found the way to place it all on her. She couldn't even rest in piece!

"This marriage is proving to be only a problem!" A councilman speaks as I cringe, standing in the back of the room.

"What do you encourage then Councilman Henry? Kill my wife" William asks aloud as the council sees in shock. This wasn't a shock to me.

I had been keyed that the council was behind more than a few murders, you didn't serve them alive you couldn't bug them in a dirt nap. And William's feeling weren't in the least bit new.

"I wouldn't mind her dead!" King William had confessed to me and Benjamin on more than one occasion. But he was fair. He was so disgusted at her attitude that he only allowed her in his quarter once every few months. This was because she was needed to reproduce a heir. Other than that he was pining over not only his loss but his savior.

"You show no alliance to her connections?" Councilman Henry tries to make William regret his choice of words as he smirks, running his fingertips over the ring that stood on his ring finger, slowly turning the ring made out of simple twigs.

"When all her alliances have costed us is men and depleting sources I couldn't be compelled to give less of a damn!" He states as he turns to the doors as they open and I follow him as the fool I am.

"Are you sure?" I ask him as he stops.

"I am more than sure of my decisions, Lady Beth" he reassures me, reminding me of the title he had given me.

"Gehenna would have wanted a prosperous Drulow" I remind him, "SHE DIED FOR IT!" I yell as my voice echos off the palace walls.

"Don't!" He tells me as I can smell the liquor on his breath. "She's still alive and you know it!" He uses my own words against me as I sigh.

"That doesn't mean you have any business poisoning your current wife" I admit as I cover my tone with a whisper. "You don't think I know the reason why Natalia has been I'll the past few days. And I can assure you that our allies in Henan would hate to hear that the King of Drulow pays a special visit to all her food" I viciously says as he sighs.

"I have been nothing but honest with my disdain for Natalia as my wife!" He repeats as I snicker.

"But we will die at the hands of Henan, especially with a death so close to the kings heart!" I reason. "I'm not asking you to do the right thing, I asking you to do the decent thing!" I urge him as he pulls back from me.

"The court is not the place of justice, it's the place to kill enemies. She's no wife of mine, so she will die!" He leaves me with as he walks away as I sigh.

Maybe he was like this because a empty hole in his heart from the darkness of Gehenna. But maybe not!

********************

"My Queen" I am greeted with kisses on my neck, I knew this part all too well.

"My King" my voice coated in silk as I call to my "husband" the man who I grew to tolerate in my pain.

"What of this war?" I ask him as he sighs, looking to me.

"Drulow refuses to submit! But we could have it, using our alliance they will be out manned! Soon we will be the supreme law of the land!" He excitedly admits aloud.

"Like music to my ears!" I add handing him a glass of wine and watching him swallow the wine as I smirk, sitting on his lap. "Your plan could be useful" I admit as he pulls me in for a kiss

"Drulow will be ours before tomorrows end-" his sentence is cut short as I smirk, standing from his lap as he chokes.

"Will be mine" I correct him. Kneeling to his face as he sits choking and coughing as my smirk never changes. "I could handle the wife bit but I am no queen, not when the king is fooling around with his mistress!" I explain as he coughs, gagging.

"Th...the....wi….wine!" He answers as I chuckle.

"Foolish man! The wine would be too noticeable" I say, "My lips were your peril, laced with hemlock" the confession leaves my lips as I smile while the life stained color of olive yellow leaves his face as he collapses.

And that was when the award winning scream came into the picture. Soon the world would reap the soul it crushed, Gehenna Cain was a bitch to be reckoned with!
