[Devouring Serpent]

A man panting heavily could be seen running through a blackened forest, it wasn't night, nor was there any magic being cast to make it seem like this place was shrouded in eternal darkness, but it was simply the nature of the Forest of Black Winter.

Black trees, that had the souls of the dead trapped in the bark.

Black leaves, that sang eerie tones when the wind started conducting.

Black ground that bled a crimson substance when you walked around.

This was the Forest of Black winter, and it was the place told to children in folk tales and legends, a place where all the nights vile and demonic beings made their home.

However, it was very real and the man in question was experiencing that first hand. He is one of many ignorant adventures who came into this forest trying to uncover the mysteries of this place and just like many others he had run into the many nightmarish creatures and beasts that filled this forest.

The man kept running and running as the sound of sticks breaking and trees being uprooted sounded out behind him, however, he didn't look back. Whether it was out of fear or determination to survive we will never know as the man had taken a wrong turn and run into a very large scaly white wall with a single streak of purple running over the top.

"Shit shit shit shit!" the man cursed under his labored breaths and turned around only to see...Nothing?

Where did the monster go?

Did it give up?

Why?

What the man didn't notice was the subtle shift in the wall behind him, that shift grew bigger and bigger until the wall suddenly started moving.

The man who heard the commotion turned around to see two large glowing emerald green eyes peering right into his soul.

His body trembled and his eyes widened in fear as he soiled himself from pure terror, his predator didn't give up, it ran away and now he knows why.

"T-t-the D-devou-" He didn't even get the finish his sentence before the beast, in a blur of speed faster than any eye could track, had consumed the man whole leaving nothing not even scraps behind.

It was called the Devouring Serpent for a reason.

[Appearance]

This sacred gear takes the form of a long interconnected steel chain with a long green and black snake coiled around the entirety of the chain. The head has an open mouth where the end of the chain connects.

[Abilities]

[Main ability]

The devouring serpent's main ability is to eat anything and gain power from it. Whether it be normal food, minerals, metals, even basic elemental magic can be eaten. The more the user eats the more power they gains.

[Secondary Ability]

The power to eat anything comes with the power to be immune to all poisons and abnormal bodily effects, as well as a body that can handle all the things. The devouring serpent modifies the user's body to be able to digest and chew anything and everything that can fit in the user's mouth.

[Tertiary Ability]

Call Of The Serpent - An Innate mental connection and the ability to exert control over any and all serpent-like creatures who are physically, magically, or mentally weaker than the user while those who are stronger only feel the need to not hurt the user, though this can be overpowered quite easily.

[Balance breaker]

The chain wraps around the user's body and covers them in a cocoon, once the cocoon cracks and breaks the user's body takes on more serpent-like features. A long slitted tongue, two slitted eyes, and their body is covered in armor. Most armors are vastly different from each other, it all depends on the user, but the one stark similarity is the snakehead helmet.

The user gains the ability to eat all forms of magic, not just elemental ones, as well as the ability to eat other sacred gears. It can't eat any of the Longinus gears though. Another added effect is the increased physical ability, and the power to reflect any attacks you receive with double the damage.

[Juggernaut drive]

The user takes no physical changes, and no increase in power either, but it gains the ability to eat concepts. Such as eating the concept of damage, or the concept of healing. For example, if it eats the concept of destruction nothing within a 50-meter radius can be destroyed for as long as the drive is active.

The user HAS to eat the concept meaning they must eat someone who is casting healing magic or someone who is taking damage to devour said concept.

The devouring serpent's sacred gear is a powerful item, it is one of the 9 other lost Longinus. In reality, it was never lost just sealed away because of its great and terrible power. The more the user devours the more the sacred gear deteriorates the user's mental state and once it reaches a certain point, the original Great Devourer takes over the user's body and starts devouring everything in its path without hesitation or remorse. The Great Devourer will eat and eat until it has consumed everything or it dies.

There is no cure, no solution, no way to solve this issue for even in death its unsatiable hunger remains.

[Basic Gear DrawBacks]

If the user consumes too much magic when their body can't handle all the energy they will explode.

And the damage reflect ability has a limit on how much damage can be reflected, as the user has to eat the attack to reflect the damage and if they cant even handle the attack then whats the point.
