She came out of the bathroom after having a long bubble bath. Clouded by stress and fatigue, she hurried to have herself beneath her blanket.

“Finally, some peace and quiet.” She murmured with a hearty smile on her face, slowly drifting to sleep when a knock on her bedroom door ruined everything.

“Who’s there?” Kirsi almost cried out, stepping out of bed and heading for the door.

She slowly opened the door and in front of her stood Ethan in grey slacks and a black T-shirt with a generous grin on his face.

“What!” Kirsi whimpered in ire. She had her hands on her waist and lips pursed in resentment.

“Come down for dinner.” He wiped off the sweat trickling down his forehead with his hands. She could perceive maple syrup and butter while standing in front of him.

“No! I just want to sleep.” She rudely declined, laying on the bed and covering herself up.
