CHAPTER 6

"You are just like him"
I repeated what she told me over and over again but still, I still can't understand what she meant by that
Was she talking to me? Who am I like? Why did she say that statement? How does she know this person? I asked myself these questions and more but, I couldn't answer any of them
The only thing I know is that the person must not have been a pleasant person to her. Apart from the tone and expression she had when she made the statement, I doesn't need thinking for someone to know that I'm definitely not part of her pleasant people dictionary
I shook my head. Although I was curious, there is no way that I'm letting what she did slide. How dare she? How dare she talk back to what I said? How dare she warn me? Twice for that matter. And that dumb friend of hers, if not for anything else, her level of dumbness really gets to my nerves. I'm going to make both of there lives miserable. That is a promise that I, Aiden Parker, is making to them
"Have you been bitten already?" a voice asked, bringing me out of what I was thinking
I turned to face my sister, then laid back on my bed, throwing the ball to the roof and catching it perfectly
"Why didn't you knock?" I asked her
"I did but, you were probably in your head"
"What do you want?" I asked
I don't have the strength to bicker with her right now
"Dinner is ready" she said
"You could have just shouted from downstairs" I told her
"One, that would be an unnecessary disturbance, and two, like I said, you were in your head"
I stopped and sat back up
"Well, I'm no longer in my 'head' so, you can go back down and close my door" I told her
"I don't know whoever that person is but, I'm really vouching for him or her"
"Don't waste your time, I'm Aiden Parker"
She signed
"Unfortunately, you are" she said and left the room
"The door" I said after her
"You are coming down anyway" she said raising her voice a little for me to hear her
That's something I still wonder; how in the world does she have a small voice? And she isn't sick or anything like that. In fact she's the exact opposite, perfectly healthy

"I'm going to school" I announced as I descended the stairs
"Wait, wait" my mum said
"What?" I groaned
"You should dress warm, I heard the temperature is going to drop today. It's going to be very cold today" she warned
"Ugh, seriously? I'll be fine, mom" I told her
"You'd better take it. If you shiver when you come back, I'm in no way taking care of you" my brother said
"Get back to college, you drop out" I said
"Oww?" I said when my mum hit me
"No child of mine neither is nor going to be a drop out" she said
"That's what you think, mum, you really don't know anything. It starts with skipping class, then running away. You'll see, after a while, he'll tell you that he has a rubbish career he wants to follow and therefore, he doesn't need to go to college anymore"
"Do you think I'm like you?" he asked
"Of course, not. If you were, you future wouldn't be one of selling things from trash cans to make a living" I told him
"Shannon" my mom called but, this time, I evaded her hit
"Bye mum"
"Bye scavenger" I greeted and dashed out of the house immediately

"You are happy" Kim said
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked her
"No, but, what happened for you to be happy. We may not know each other well but, I know you are not something who just wakes up from bed and smile saying, 'what a lovely day it is'" she said
"You do have a point. I scored a point today"
"You play ball? And early in the morning?"
"Do you only score a point when you play ball? And it's goal for ball"
"Oh, you're right. So, what do you mean?"
"Against my brother. Older" I said
"I guess you guys also have the same sibling virus as me and my brother" she said
"Sibling virus?"
"Not being able to stand your opposite gender sibling, younger or older" she emphasized
I chuckled and closed my locker
"Let's go to class" I told her
We were passing the corner of the hallway to the class when I slipped, I barely managed to steady my footing or I would have fallen face first on the floor. When I got my bearing, I looked to the girl
"Oops, sorry. I just wanted to stretch my legs. I was standing for way too long, you know" Britney said while her Nighloks were laughing besides her
I smiled a fake smile
"Sure, no problem" I said
Right when she was about to walk in front of me, I put my leg out and this time, she fell. It wasn't face first but, it sure was embarrassing
"Oops, sorry. It's just that there was this annoying pig that was grunting and I just had to shut it up. The sound was so disgusting" I told her, shivering with the last statement
"You understand, right?" I asked still with the fake smile but, I didn't wait for a reply before I walked towards the class

Lunch time
Like the good friend that I am, I went to the dark room to get Kim so that we can buy get our lunch together, even though they were at different locations. But, she isn't here. I dropped my bag and went to where our lockets where located but, she wasn't there also but, I stood beside it, in case she comes here
"Aren't you the new girl and the girl whose friend poured milkshake on Aiden?" a boy asked after over five minutes
"Yeah, I am"
"Did you guys stop being friends already?"
"No, why would we?"
"Then why are you here? She probably needs your help right now"
I stood straight
"What are you talking about?" I asked him
"She's at the cafeteria, with Aiden" he said and that was all I needed to hear to guess what was going on
I warned him
He stopped me when I was going. I looked at him with a questioning look
"I didn't tell you, okay?"
"No problem" I said, removed my arm from his hold and ran to the cafeteria. My fist automatically clenched when I saw what I saw
Kim was kneeling like a slave in front of Aiden, who was sitting, cleaning his shoes while foods and drinks were being poured on him. What made me more angry was that, even with the staffs there, no one was even bothered. I walked toward them, my breathing was getting heavier
"Shannon!" he dared to call my name
"You are finally here. I was starting to wonder when you were going to arrive. The party has been long going" he said and I could see prove of that on both her body and the ground
I took a deep breathe, closing my eyes and added more pressure in clenching my fist. I searched for words to say but, I couldn't find any so, I just decided to say the easiest thing. I opened my eyes and looked at him
"What in the world do you think you are doing right now?!" I asked him, raising my voice
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he asked while pouring another drink on her
"What?" he asked
"Am I doing something wrong. Like that male ?" he asked
Just like him, although this is way past his level
Kim was about to look at me but, he forcefully grabbed her face back to him
"You look at only me. Your're my slave, you hear"
"What?" I asked
"Oh, you didn't know. She's my slave, starting from today" he replied
He removed his shoe, poured milkshake on the back
"You don't even deserve this but, since you're my slave, I'll give you this honor" he told her
He gave the shoe to her
"Drink it" he told her
My eyes dashed to him. Before she could drink it, I grabbed her away from the floor and without even wanting to think about it, I slapped him
