LITTLE MOUSE

NOAH'S POV

I could only make out her body outline, she seemed so frail and tiny. As if she will break any time soon with just a single touch. The woman clearly lacked nourishment in her diet. People could mistake her for a walking corpse.

From where I was standing, I could not see her face and the woman was so immersed in her own world that she also didn't notice that I was standing right outside her room, observing her like a creep.

The door was still not fully open, but I could see her side profile. Something about her seemed familiar and instead of running away, I was now more curious.

Something inside me wanted to go inside and hug her, her small frame screamed at me and my heart increased its pace.

"Sir…. You should leave."

I almost forgot about the man who was standing beside me and looked like he will sh*t in his pants if I don't leave immediately.

I took out a few bills from my pocket and slammed them on his tray.

"I need information," I stated directly.

"A-about what sir?" He asked but still seemed terrified.

"About this woman," I said and turned once again towards the mysterious woman and just then she lifted her face and I froze for a moment.

Is she…?

No! It can't be her!

My little mouse?

I stepped close to her room and peeked a little more inside to get a clear look. There was darkness around her, curtains were drawn and the filtered light from them was invading the room, illuminating it. The room was plain with nothing and boring white walls.

And there she sat in the corner with her old piano, playing the same tune that she used to play for me.

Only this time, the emotions were different.

The tune screamed happiness but at the same time, it haunted me.

How is she alive?

Was it just a drama?

But…. what about that letter? And that voice message?

I wanted to barge inside the room and choke the truth out of her, but I also needed to know how she ended up here.

"Speak before I lose my damn mind and barge inside." I gritted my teeth and looked at the nurse who was now shaking.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked my voice murderous which made him gulp in fear.

"I-I don't know much sir, but no one is allowed to go inside this room, please sir....I don't know what your business is but I can lose my job if you don't leave immediately." His voice trembled and he took a step back sensing the dangerous vibes coming from me.

"That's not the answer to my question." I sneered and almost attacked him. I just don't like to repeat myself.

"All I know is that her mind is stuck…and no one is allowed to go in this room, especially males."

"What do you mean by her mind is stuck?" I asked.

"We do not know about her past, but doctors assumed that something terrible must have happened which made her lose her sanity. Her mind is stuck in her past, in those moments when she used to be happy but little things trigger her and she tries to hurt herself when that happens. That is why only selected people are allowed to go in." The ward boy answered.

I felt unsettled after listening to his answer, has she really gone mad or is it just another drama?

"Sir…if you know her then you should talk to her doctor. She can tell you everything in detail about her." He suggested and I nodded my head.

I need to know the whole truth, this time I cannot make the same mistake by trusting half the information. I never should have trusted Alex or that voice message. What kind of a person he is?

Did he leave her in this kind of place? His own sister?

I took out my phone and searched the name of this asylum on the internet, just to check if it was somehow connected to Serrano's but my search led me to their achievements and none of them said that the Serrano's are interested in helping mentally retarded people.

So, this place is not owned by Serrano and only the Government is taking care of these people.

Maybe Alex does not know that she is here? Or maybe she is not Alex's sister or my little mouse.

I need to know when she was admitted here, if the timeline match, then it will confirm her identity.

"What is the name of the doctor who's looking after her and what are her timings?" I asked.

"Dr. Shirley. She just left but she will come back after lunch to check on her once again." He answered and I nodded.

I felt like the walls were closing in on me so without waiting I left the place and walked out of the building as soon as my feet could take me out of that place.

I took in a deep breath and looked back once again.

Dr. Shirley.

I cannot wait till lunch for her, I need my answers right now.

If she turned out to be my little mouse, then Alex is clearly f*cked! But if she isn't…then I need to find out why she looks like her.

After making up my mind I took out my phone and called my secretary.

"I need you to arrange an immediate meeting with Dr. Shirley, she works in St. Ann mental asylum. I don't care how you do it but if you manage to do it, you will definitely get hefty reward for it. You have exactly ten minutes to do it." I ordered and she confirmed that she'll manage something.
