HYPERTHYMESIA

NOAH'S POV

It was easier than I initially thought, Dr. Shirley was right in front of my eyes before her lunch time.

For someone who worked in a mental asylum she was quite young and maybe that is why she misunderstood my intentions. They way she is acting it is clear that she is single and wants my attention.

Unfortunately for her, I am not interested, and I never will be.

My heart beats for only one person.

I need to clear first that this is not a date.

"So…Dr. Shirley." I started but she interrupted me.

"Just Shirley, please." She purred and I did not bother hiding my annoyance. I don't like being interrupted and she is the first person in a long time who dared to do it.

"Dr. Shirley. First let me be very clear about one thing, this is not a date. I called you because I need to discuss something with you." I stated in my business tone.

"W-what is it Mr. Noah?" She asked and seemed intimidated by my tone.

Good.

That is what I wanted.

For her to act professional and to not waste my time.

Because for me time is money, and I have wasted pretty much entire day here.

"I want to ask about one of your patients." I leaned closer and rested my elbows on my knees. Currently she was sitting with me in a local restaurant, and I booked the entire floor just so I can have some privacy, I couldn't risk anyone knowing that after charity I was meeting someone or why am I meeting someone here.

"My patient?" She questioned, a confused frown marring her forehead.

"Yes, that one girl whose…. whose mind is stuck in her past or something like that. She also has piano in her room." I said and read the expressions on her face.

Realization dawned on her, and she nodded eagerly.

"Are you somehow related to her Mr. Noah? We have been trying to find out about her family background so that we can contact them. I also filed a complaint, but no one ever responded, I mean we never got any news on her or about her," She answered, and I could tell she was passionate about her job.

She wanted to help people, a quality that is rarely seen these days.

"I-I am an old friend. I didn't know that she is here." I answered.

"Oh."

"I have few questions about her?" I said and she listened carefully.

"Okay."

"When and how did you find her?" This was my first question because I needed to know if she is my little mouse.

"We found her about three and a half years ago. She was not in a good condition; it is a miracle that she survived." She answered and was looking at the table as if she was lost in her memories.

Maybe she was reliving the moment when she found her.

My little mouse.

It should be her.

"Where did you find her?" I asked again. If her family is the reason that she is here then this time the Serrano's will have to face me directly and not through someone else.

I made a mistake of targeting the daughter of their family, not knowing that those vultures never cared about her, but I will make them pay for everything they have done to her and me.

I was holding back because of my guilt.

"I was returning from my session when I found her injured on a road. I am a doctor and the sight of blood should not bother me but that day it did. The woman, we call her Angel because we do not know her real name, she was drenched in blood. I immediately took her to the hospital and doctors told me that the chances of her survival are negligible. After three months she woke up but with no memory of her past." She explained and an unexplainable amount of pain burned through my chest and engulfed each and every fiber of my body.

Drenched in blood.

On a road.

Abandoned.

"What happened after that?"

"I diagnosed her as a special case of hyperthymesia. It is a condition where due to trauma or accident a person face difficulty in letting go of their memories and sometimes they vividly remember every detail of their past and it stays with them. But her case is special." She said and her words worked like a bullet.

"Why is that?" I questioned and looked away for a moment.

"Because when she woke up, she was fine but when the doctors told her that she lost her baby she fainted once again. And when she wore up again, she was not the same person. She was a little girl, who is waiting for her father to return from work so that she can play with him once again. I don't know much about her past but I think whatever happened in her life was so traumatizing that her mind doesn't want to remember any of it and is now living in an illusion. Maybe in her life, her only happy memories were of the time she spend with her parents because that is all she ever talks about. But we also take extra care of her as she is afraid of strangers and any new face triggers her and she turns into a different person." She added further.

"As a different person?" I wanted her to elaborate, what did she mean by a different person?

"Yes, sometimes she panics leading to a panic attack or sometimes she starts hurting herself. It is hard to control her whenever that happens. Sometimes extra pressure leads to epileptic fits." She finished and I felt icy shivers down my spine after hearing that.

And I am the reason of all this?

The plan was to destroy Serrano's, to make them realize what I had to go through in my childhood, but those bastards never cared about anyone but themselves and their precious reputation.

This must be the doing of Senior Serrano, to save face he must have thrown away the body of his own granddaughter.

Not knowing that she was not dead.

Now all the pieces were coming together. She tried to commit suicide and her grandfather, and his men threw her body away so that he won't have to deal with all the mess and the media. And I am sure Alex doesn't know anything or he would have done something to save her. In that house only Alex was the person who truly cared about her but was too busy with his business to be able to take care of his own sister. And just like I took advantage of this, his grandfather must have done the same. I am sure that he is the reason she ended up in a mental asylum, he could have saved her that day, but he didn't even try to.

At least I am not that heartless, I realized my mistake, but I don't know about senior Serrano, how does he even sleep at night?

Knowing that he killed his own blood.

I have never felt so disgusted in my life than I felt today.

I don't know where to start or how to start but I vow to make things right and destroy those who are responsible for destroying not only mine and but her life as well.
