Miracle

Izekiel felt like laughing then and there. It seems like even Althiest is not completely invincible. It seems that he has underestimated what a "God" is and how much power one holds. Alice and Althiest are both Gods, so how are they not on equal footing in the terms of power? Even if him falling from Celestar is a form of punishment, is it Altheist's job to punish him?

'No! It's not his job at all!'

Izekiel felt like he was about to go crazy with laughter, but was able to compose himself in the presence of the Goddess in front of him, maintaining a normal appearance with a gentle and calm smile on his face. On in the inside, he was going wild but on the outside, his expression has not changed at all.

There was one thing bothering Izekiel though. He knows that he was very fortunate that Alice had judged him as "not guilty", however why? He can't think of a reason that makes his actions excusable. Or is trying to kill a God not a crime at all?

"Your majesty, may I ask you something?" questioned Izekiel.

"Go ahead."

"Do you mind explaining to me why I'm seen as "not guilty"?"

"What?" Alice crossed her arms, "are you trying to tell me that you actually wanted to die? Or are you questioning my judgement?" she slightly tilted her head.

"Of course not, it's neither of those reasons. I'm just a little confused, that's all," Izekiel explained.

"Confused? What is there to be confused about?"

"I don't think trying to kill a God is a good thing, yet you said that I'm not guilty. Why is that?" asked Izekiel.

"If attempting to kill a God is guilty, than wouldn't Althiest and his creator be even more guilty than you because they actually killed one and disrespectfully put his ashes in an hour glass?"

"It's different."

"How so?" questioned Alice. "Is it because Althiest is a God and you're "just" an angel?"

"Yes."

"Have you forgotten that the one who ordered Althiest to kill a fellow God is a human?" Alice pointed out.

"Humans can become a God by killing one and devouring their heart, an angel can't. If Noe had devoured that God's heart, he wouldn't be guilty at all. Humans have the right to challenge a God, but angels don't," even if Izekiel hated the truth, he had to admit it. Even if most humans are weaker than angels, those "weaker beings" could become what angels can't. Only those with true freedom could become whatever they want.

"And you are an angel?" Alice spoke in a questioning tone.

"Yes. I am one," Izekiel could not understand why Alice had asked that. Was she trying to remind him that he was someone without freedom? Was she refusing to call him an angel because he isn't the symbol of "good" and "purity"? What is it?

"Wrong. You are a being close to divinity," Alice pointed at Izekiel, pressing her nail against his chest. "You are clearly not a human, but you're not fully an angel either. That blood inside you is the blood of the divine- the blood that runs through Gods and Goddess. You are not a symbol of purity, but a symbol of the divine."

"Hah... what kind of divine being would be in a situation like this?" Izekiel felt like laughing as if everything she said was a joke. He has never seen any divine being suffering this bad.

"Because you are a failure," Alice's words pierced right through him. "That God who died by the hands of Althiest is a failure. Gods and Goddess who abandon their nations out of irresponsibility are all failures. Noe who created the first God had only created him because he himself was a failure. The divine do suffer Izekiel. Misfortune doesn't spare anyone, including the divine. Gods can die, that's a proven fact but they also continuously ascend and revive from the prayers of people. Izekiel, do you understand what makes someone a God?"

"Power and recognition from others?" in full honesty, Izekiel doesn't actually know the answer. Yes, he is knowledgeable, but he doesn't know everything. He could only guess the answer this time.

"While recognition is one part of it, your answer is vague and incorrect," Alice lowered her arm. "I believe that Gods and Goddess are born to serve and assist humans, it was through their prayers that had created us after all. We can be killed however, will we keep reviving as long as someone still wishes for our existence which makes us nearly immortal.Once we are no longer recognised or have influence over others, we will be forgotten which means the prayers and wishes of others are no longer delivered to us. We become useless. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"

"As long as people accept you as their God then you are one, is that right?" Izekiel answered with a smile.

"Pretty much," Alice nodded.

"So you're saying me that I too can become a God?"

"No, of course not. You can't become a real God, however the divine blood inside you is not fake. Make people believe in you, and you will gain powers similar to a real God," explained Alice.

'Gaining powers similar to a God, but being unable to become one... would I still be able to make Noe leave me alone even if he knows I'm not a real God?'

"Here, this is a soul orb," a black and purple orb surrounded by a white glow appeared floating in the air. "I will place it in your left hand and connect it to my soul, then the injures you get will be received by me instead. This will at least make humans think you're a real God. I wish you luck. I hope you can kill Althiest and Noe," Alice spoke before everything disappeared.

'I'm back.'

Izekiel opened his eyes to a familiar prison cell.

"Hey," a voice called out, it was a knight. "We're taking you to court now. If you do not cooperate, we will use force," the knight said before unlocking his cell.

Handcuffing Izekiel, the knight brought him to an outdoor stadium where the king was sitting on a platform. There were many people there to witness the trial, especially since some great influencers were attending, one of them being the Xavier family that had Klein in it.

"This trial now begins!" the king slammed his hammer. "Defendant, explain your purpose for being here."

"I'm here because Var needs a miracle to be saved. I don't believe that you, the king, can revive Var. If you could then would Var be like this right now? Of course I should also add in the fact that there's a faction against you," Izekiel smiled, "would there be one if you were doing your job as the king properly?"

Hearing the whispers of others in the court, Izekiel knew that he was pointing out the right things. Looking around, Izekiel's eyes finally stopped when he spotted a familiar person in the crowd.

Wearing a black shirt and coat with a sword in his arms was Feng Zhiyuan who was sitting in the stadium, his onyx sharp eyes piercing right through Izekiel. Izekiel who wants to get on good terms with Feng Zhiyuan, smiled his usual smile before turning back to look at the king.

"You are a spy sent by another nation! Save Var? What a big lie! You're going to destroy Var!" shouted the king.

"I have someone to volunteer for me."

"Who?" the king raised his eyebrow.

"Klein Xavier, the heir to the Xavier family. He has the ability to understand people, so why would he openly welcome and defend me if I have bad intentions? Of course if I ever have any thoughts of destroying Var, he would be the first to know, right?" Izekiel turned to Klein who was sitting in the front. Everyone also turned to look at Klein.

Someone who claims to want to save Var but is said to be a spy is definitely a bad person, but if the young master of the Xavier family is vouching for him then it's another story. Who here doesn't know what the young master's ability is? Who here doesn't know how much Klen Xavier adores Var and its people?

"He sounds a little suspicious but sir Xavier isn't denying it!"

"Well if sir Xavier is on his side then he's probably telling the truth."

"What if sir Xavier is actually a traitor and is working with another nation?"

"Hey you there watch your mouth! Who are you to insult sir Xavier? Have you contributed to this nation as much as him?!"

"Don't you know that even Feng Zhiyuan respects sir Xavier?!"

"So what if the young master of the Xavier family is his backing?!"

"Kill that spy! Kill him!"

"Kill him! Kill him!"

"He's evil! Look at his abnormal hair and eyes! It must be from his evil desires that had made him awaken like that!"

"Execute that outsider!"

"Leave him alone! I trust in sir Xavier's judgment!"

"Release him!"

"Kill him!"

The audience members chanted and argued with one another. The young knight who had escorted Izekiel to his cell stared at this scene with dull eyes.

"Ah... our hope... is distinguishing itself."

"Silence," the king shouted, making it quiet again. "After seeing the reactions of my people and hearing your opinions. I hereby send this young man to a death sentence!"

Hearing the king's command, a knight then rushed towards Izekiel and sliced his neck however to everyone's surprise, the wound just healed itself, leaving behind only a bit of blood.

"What's going on?!" multiple knights then started attacking Izekiel but no matter what they did, Izekiel would not die and his injuries all vanished, only leaving behind a little blood which proved that the wound had once existed.

"Shoot him with guns!" the king ordered.

'This is getting tiring. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. The wounds disappear but the pain doesn't. I don't want to deal with this anymore. I don't want to..'

"A God! Is that man a God?!"

"Look at him!"

"He must not be human! A God I tell you!"

What makes you a God? Power and recognition? Not necessarily, but what you need is for others to acknowledge your existence as a God and believe you are one. After that, you divine blood will also recognise you.

'I don't want them to be able to reach me with their disgusting hands anymore!'

Just like that, the incoming bullets had all seemed to be frozen in the air before dropping onto the ground. Not even a single bullet had reached after that. It seemed as if some kind of force had surrounded Izekiel completed. What force? The aura of the divine.

"I said that Var needs a miracle to be saved," Izekiel turned around to look the people of Var. Although he was far away from them everyone heard his voice loud and clear, "I am that miracle," he spoke with a gentle, unchanging smile on his face.

"Hope... has been relit by a miracle," light once again shone in the young knight's eyes.

Miracle? Where the hell is mine?

Anyways I wrote this while brain dead so might've missed something.
