Chapter Ten

The district was bustling as merchants roamed about and shop attendants tried to fish in customers. Abigail walked through the district and had her eye out for something in particular. Suddenly her eyes lit up. She stared at a appropriate sized store that was close to centre of the district. It was two storeys high and was well renovated. It was a pastry shop and she was familiar with it as it did well when it opened up but due to repetition and no new ideas, its popularity died down very soon. It might appear dull to others but this was like a goldmine to someone like herself.

She walked in with the two and they were soon greeted by a young girl around her age. She had ginger hair and blue eyes, she looked very cute. She greeted the three and after a short conversation, she brought the three to meet her father, the head Baker and owner of the shop. He greeted them and let them have a seat.

" So let me understand this, you wanna buy my shop?? ", the ginger haired man asked. Abigail had already informed him on why she came her and was willing to own the shop.

She had a smile on her face and an air of authority around her which was shocking for someone her age. " Yes I am, and I know you have some concerns but I'm willing to pay a considerable amount and you'll still be employed and be paid a good salary regularly "

The man thought about what she said before sighing, " Look, even if you buy the shop off my hands, I still have no new ideas for the pastries so there's no gain in this ", the ginger haired man said.

" You don't need to worry about that, are you willing to sell ", she asked, her business skills on full display.

The man shrugged, " Business hasn't been good and I still have a family to take care of. The salary sounds promising... how much are you paying "

" Depends on you ", she said while sipping tea and casually looked around.

" 20,000 gold coins ", the man said.

" That sounds reasonable seeing as you just renovated the place, fair enough. Deal ", she extended her hands out for a handshake which he agreed to and the two shook on it. She had expected the latter to call out an exorbitant price but she was happy the man was quite reasonable. She handed him the bank notes and signed some paperwork then the shop was hers.

After the paper work she then handed the man a small notebook and when he opened it and saw the contents, his hands shook as his eyes widened. He quickly looked up at her. Others around noticed his expression and looked at Abigail who just sat and sipped on her tea.

" You're knowledgable with baking ? ", the man managed to mutter, " And you invented all these? "

Abigail shrugged, the book contained dessert she knew from her past life and the procedures for making them. Dessert like chocolate, donuts, strudel, tarts and many others were contained in the book. She couldn't write all the desserts she knew so that she could boost the brand in the future. In this timeline, these desserts were foreign to people here and know one knew about them.... yet. She knew that these desserts will be a big hit and will sell well.

" I've never seen such pastries before, so many strange names as well, the two that really piqued my interest are the ones that say.. C- chocolate and Ice cream, their methods are very strange ", the Baker said.

" Indeed and I bet they'll be the most popular ", she said as she smiled which made everyone around gush at her. So adorable!!

" The ingredients needed are also mentioned in the book ", she said as she stood up and walked around. " Any that is hard to come by, I should be informed, you shall be given 5000 gold coins to hire a total of thirty workers and five guards, provide better equipment, make any necessary renovations to the shop and to also get the ingredients required. Martha "

She then turned to Martha standing behind her and spoke, " Hand over the money to him and you'll will be responsible for the advertising of the shop's opening in two weeks. That will be all now, I'll be back in a week to check on your progress. Good day. ", she then left the shop with Martha and Travis who were stunned by their young lady who appeared very different at the moment.

The Baker who later revealed his name to be Jack, happily ran in and began to study the note book. It was already evening when the three reached the manor of the stones. As they arrived, the figure of a beautiful blonde woman with a similar looking girl standing by the entrance was seen as if waiting for someone.

Abigail walked towards the entrance and stopped before her stepmother and Rose. The two looked down at her haughtily as she stared at them quietly. She then bowed, " Good evening second mother and second sister, How are you? ", Abigail greeted.

" Where have you been you worthless girl??", Helen hollered at her before walking up to slap her but Abigail caught her hand just in time, " How dare you let me go ".

Abigail ignored her screams and released her hands, but was caught of guard when Rose suddenly slapped her. She stared at Rose wide eyed while she smirked but it soon disappeared as she slapped herself and fell to the ground crying. The Duke soon walked out and saw his beloved daughter crying and immediately went to her side.

" What happened?? ", he asked rose as she cried hard.

" Mother just asked sister were she went but she refused and spoke rudely to mother and when I tried to defend mother, she slapped me then she slapped herself when she saw you coming. Sister must be upset about what happened today so she's just venting her anger, don't blame her father ", Rose then cried more breaking her father heart, he then glared at Abigail before going up to slap her.

" How dare you slap your sister and try to frame her?? How unreasonable can you be, since you have no regard I'm going to teach you a lesson ", he then took Rose and Helen inside leaving Abigail standing there stunned.

" Lady Abigail!! ", Travis and Helen ran to her to see her right cheek slightly swollen since she was slapped twice in the same cheek. " It's red, I have to call a physician ".

" No need Martha, I'm just going to apply some ointment and it'll heal up ", she then walked into the house. As she walked towards her room, a devilish smile appeared on her face. She won't be bothered with such a poorly acted plot like this, it was just a matter before she would leave the house.
