Awakened License

'Hmm..'

'Now I can track, how much stats I gets from eating, unlike before.' Arthur knew that this was the work of his devouring skill, that he got stats from beast's meat.

After complementing the food in his mind he got up and paid for the food, after that he walked towards the Awakener's tower.

Arthur set his sights on the imposing Awakeners' Tower, its towering spires reaching towards the sky. The grand structure stood as a bastion of knowledge and the gateway to unlocking one's true potential. To acquire his Awakener's license, he approached the tower, joining a bustling crowd of individuals flowing in and out, each engaged in their own purpose.

Approaching the reception desk, Arthur was greeted by a gracious attendant. She donned a flowing gown of deep burgundy, embellished with delicate embroidery that depicted arcane symbols. A small crystal pendant hung from her neck, emanating a soft glow.

"Welcome to the Awakeners' Tower, Sir!" she greeted Arthur with a warm smile. "What can I help you with?"

"I want to apply for the awakener's license."

Listening this the girl nodded and handed a piece of paper to Arthur, "Sir, please fill this form and give it back to me."

Arthur grabbed the paper and settled himself in a chair next to the reception desk. He needed to fill in the date of his awakening, his current stats and current rank, level and other miscellaneous information.

After filling all the information, he handed the paper back to the receptionist who checked and said, in around half an hour someone will call you for the awakener's test, till them you can rest in the resting room.

Arthur nodded in agreement and made his way back to the spot where he had been sitting before. He took a seat and observed the people passing by, using it as a way to pass the time until his test, which was still half an hour away.

As the girl saw Arthur go, her smile turned to disgust as she muttered, "How creepy, what have he done to have such a scarred face?"

She didn't know that Arthur still heard her voice, but he didn't dwell on it as some people might fear him while some may feel discomfort, some might feel sympathy for him while others might show disdain.

Without seeing the information, she passed it directly to another girl standing behind him, "Complete rest of the procedures."

.

After half an hour,

Arthur was still sitting there with his eye closed, seeming deep in thought. A man approached him and said, "Sir, you have been called in the testing room."

Arthur slowly opened his eye, he looked at the man and nodded, after he stood up he started following the man to the testing room.

As Arthur stepped into the testing room, his eyes were drawn to a prominent sight at its center—a large stone slab. It stood tall, commanding attention amidst the array of equipment that surrounded it. As he approached the slab, a man in white uniform came near him and said, "Mr. Arthur Hightower welcome to the awakening tower. We will start the test right away."

He then neared the stone slab and said, "Please, put your hand on this slab, it will roughly gauge your stats, and will tell us whether you have awakened or not."

Arthur cautiously approached the stone slab, his hand outstretched to make contact with its surface. As his palm made contact, he couldn't help but notice the chilling sensation that greeted his touch. The stone slab felt icy cold against his skin, some words started to appear on its surface.

After checking those Arthur status the man was shocked, but he still smiled brightly as he looked at Arthur.

But Arthur was shocked as he checked the word talent, he knew better than anyone else that he didn't have any talent, but it was still showing that he has awakened some talent.

'And why are my estimated stats so high?'

Even his status window showed that he do not have any kind of talent, but it was still a good thing for him, as it will at least help avoid unnecessary problems, but the average stats it is some problem.

"Seeing your talent rank you can get an evaluation of S rank." the man said with a smile.

*

// Evaluation rank is the rank which the association believes that the person will reach in the future if don't die in between.

After Arthur came out of the room the man scouted Arthur to a special room, before Arthur entered the room the man told him, "Sir, you can rest here for some time. You will get your awakener's id in an hour."

After Arthur entered the room, he saw three sofas a big table which was surrounded by three sofas alternatively.

Arthur leisurely sat on a sofa, the first thing he did was to open his status window.

Knock

Knock

"Sir, your awakened license has been processed. May I enter the room?" the man administering Arthur's test said, knocking on the door to get his attention.

"Yes, Yes" Arthur replied as he looked back at the door.

When the man entered the room, he saw Arthur standing on front of the window, looking outside. The man came near Arthur, he bowed as he passed a black box to Arthur, who took and opened the box.

Inside the box, Arthur found a meticulously crafted golden card. Its surface was adorned with intricate designs and patterns, reflecting the exquisite craftsmanship. In the center of the card, his name was elegantly imprinted, catching the light with a subtle shimmer. Beneath his name, the letter "E" was prominently displayed, representing his rank. The card felt smooth and solid in his hand.

He looked at the man and said, "Thank you, now I will take my leave." as Arthur was About to leave the man hurriedly said, "Sir please wait, some guild escorters came and wanted to meet you."

He glanced at the man with surprise, pausing in his steps. "Guild escorters?" Arthur repeated, a hint of curiosity in his voice. He hadn't expected anyone to seek him out so soon after receiving his awakened license. With a nod, he decided to wait, intrigued by the unexpected visitors.

...

...

While Arthur was in the room where his awakening was being checked.

'I've got enough talent, skills and luck.'

'Now I will become a star, the center of attention.'

'I've won many championships and I even got first rank in the trial.'

A man with striking blond hair was sitting in a chair and looked at the door as he awaited his turn for the awakening license session. He had a sword attached on his back, and had a look of confidence on his face.

He then smiled and looked towards sky in an arrogant manner. 'I will be the strongest Awakener in this season. Benjamin Walker!'

'I need to get a lot of attention in my first appearance in order to walk the road of success.'

.

Was what I had thought.

'Until that f*cking bastard came.'

"Get out of the way you fool why are you blocking my way." said a man with glasses to Benjamin as he was standing in way towards the hallway. He was watching Arthur go with the examiner.

A vein popped on Benjamin's forehead as he glared at the man. "Are you blind? Can't you walk from the side?" he exclaimed, his voice echoing in annoyance.

The man with glasses angrily retorted, "Huh, you dare to voice against me. Do you know which guild I am from?"

"I couldn't care less. Your guild must be of low level anyway," Benjamin retorted dismissively, his tone dripping with disdain.

"Hey, don't start fighting in here. Don't you know where you are standing?" a guard came berated as he looked at them.

The man with glasses looked at Benjamin, he snorted at him and then left.

Benjamin just gritted his teeth at this sight, 'He stole all the spotlight that I deserved.'

.

Some moments ago...

As the man in the white coat emerged from the evaluation room, accompanied by a person with black hair and a visibly scarred face, including a missing eye.

Benjamin's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at the examiner who looked like he was flaunting over the awakener.

He then announced, "We will begin the test after a short a break." after that he lead the awakener to another place.

.

.

While waiting for the test to continue, Benjamin heard many whispers.

"You saw that earlier right? The person with scarred face? The one which caused the wait."

"I didn't see his face properly though."

"You don't know what his face looked like. His forehead was scarred and even one of his eye was missing. He looked a little scary."

"Yeah, anyone would be scared seeing such a face."

"Did you hear the guild escorters talking about the 'High Ranked'?"

"Could he have gotten Rank A or S evaluation?"

"...."

"...."

'It's not over yet.'

'I still have chance to get into spotlight. After my results come out those same escoters will be bootlicking me.' though Benjamin.

After 10 minutes...

A person in same white coat entered the waiting room. He looked around and said, "I will be your new examiner, the test will continue on."

"Benjamin Walker enter the evaluation room."

'I don't care if he got high rank or not. I won't lose to him no matter what.'

[Inside the evaluation room]

"Benjamin Walker according to your stats, skills and talent you have been evaluated to Rank B." the examiner said as he looked at the screen in front of him.

--------------------------

Status : Awakened

Estimated Rank : Rank F

Estimated stats : 10

Talent : **** (Rank B)

--------------------------

"What my evaluated rank is only B, Why?"

"Damn it!" Benjamin shouted.

The examiner just shook his head seeing Benjamin's behavior, he have spent around a decade testing different awakeners and he has seen such thing over past few years.

"I-I trained so hard!"

"I pushed myself even when everyone was slacking, I even got first rank in the trial!"

He then looked upwards and shouted, "How is this fair?!!!"

.

.

.

"What is this?" Arthur questioned the examiner.

"Sir this is a list of guilds that want to meet with you. "

He then took out a card from his breast pocket and handed it to Arthur and said, "I work for the Awakener's Association Newbie Information Division as its chief."

"I'm Liam Collins."

Ohh...

Arthur picked up the blue card with a prominent yellow strip and examined it closely.

"Sir again congratulation on getting an S rank evaluation." Liam said.

"I'm sure you must have heard of many guilds and the benefits they provide if you join them."

"If you join any guild they will provide you resources such as wealth, housing, weapons, training potions and they also provide protection to the member ..." as Liam continued with his speech, Arthur held the paper with different guilds name written on it, but he was thinking of different thing.

'I'm feeling hungry again, what should I eat later?'

"...Arthur?"

"Ah, yes."

"You looked quite conflicted."

"...Ah, does your work include giving me this?" Arthur questioned.

Liam smiled and said, "I'm here for personal matters."

"Additionally, I wanted to give this to you," Liam said as he handed a file paper to Arthur.

Arthur carefully read the content, "The Titan Guild... a contract regarding rights and obligations,... "

"After signing the contract with Titan Guild awakener Arthur Hightower, the guild will immediately pay him a sum of 100 gold coins as a lump sum payment."

"How is it?" Liam asked as he sipped the water.

"What do you think will be the weight of this contract?"

"Excuse me..."

"You don't have to worry much about money, the 100 gold coins is just signing bonus after all. And they are even willing to double the amount after expiration of the contract, if you'd like to renew the contract with them." Liam continued.

"Twice the amount..."

"Of course, the beast's core from New World, spoils from dungeons must be shared with the guild. But the distribution ratio is much more favorable for you."

"But... this kind of personal contract is it even allowed?" asked Arthur with a smile.

Liam looked deeply at Arthur and said, "I have personal connections with Titan Guild, so the Titan Guild scout asked me to pass this to you."

"If you need to think about it more, you don't have to decide right away as..."

Arthur placed the file on the table and said, "I've made up my mind already."

"In the first place, I can't join any guild currently as my family have already made up their plans for my future. No matter which guild it is, I have no intention of joining them."

"...You must be kidding."

"No, I'm not."

" Well, my family didn't allow me to join any guild, as I have to attend academy this year."

Hearing this Liam was shocked, "What you turned sixteen this year? I thought you were already in the academy."

In current time, many people make their Awakener License after they attend the academy and become a little more powerful to get good evaluation in the awakener's test. But how would Arthur know about this as his family outcasted and even before outcasting him they never told him such basics.

He was only told that after he awakened at the age of sixteen he will attend the academy.

After their little talk, Arthur excused himself. He rejected all those scouts giving the same explanation as before, the escoters were reluctant to leave such a good seed but they still left as they can't meddle in such matters.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow on the surroundings, Arthur made his way out of the building. He headed back to the same restaurant where he had enjoyed his meal earlier in the afternoon.

After giving his order to the same waiter who attended him during his previous session, he sat silently on the corner of the room watching outside from the window.

'I have to do something about it.'

'I still have two months till the academy starts and I can enter New World once a week for about five hours.'

'I have enough time, I will think about this matter when the academy starts.'

As he was emerged in his thoughts the food arrived, after eating the food and getting another increase in his stats he left to find a room where he will stay for next two months.
