Chapter 13

*Xiii...*

The Forest Weaver proceeded to give out a seductive cry while doing what it was supposed to do. As for the two big men standing nearby, they excitedly spun the wooden branch to collect as much of the thread they could before it touched the ground.

This was a sight to behold.

The slightly discolored crimson liquid solidified instantly after coming out from the Forest Weaver. As it was coming out like a geyser of watery dough, it ended up creating web-like threads that were supposed to cover the weaver's body for its subsequent shedding.

*Xii... Xii...*

That cry of the Forest Weaver is akin to how a wooden door is squeaking due to not getting lubricated enough. It was also quite a surprise as the monster's body is getting less bloated from before by minute.

The entire process continued for a little over fifteen minutes until the Forest Weaver noticed something was wrong.

And in that instant, the silky juices stopped. Letting go of its two frontmost legs from the tree, the Forest Weaver looked like it was doing a somersault down to the ground.

"Whoa! Careful!" both of them were shocked by the sudden response.

This action from the Forest Weaver caught them by surprise. But luckily, Evan Young managed to keep the wooden branch from falling down to the ground. This would definitely destroy the quality of the thread if the thread they spun were knocked down to the surface and got contaminated with the soil, grass, and other impurities.

"Xii..." the Forest Weaver were slithering around the two as it seemed to be a little emotional. It seems to be very unhappy from having all the silky thread stolen by the humans.

"Oh shit... Did what we did get the Forest Weaver angry at us?" Eins was shaking as his hand was placed on top of the short sword hanging around his waist. As for Evan Young, he's a little unlucky as he had to carry the thread they collected from this monster, which is close to fifteen kilograms in gross weight.

But the Forest Weaver soon chooses to crawl away and not confront the two thieves stealing its threads. For a monster with such a long lifespan, not molting once or twice wasn't a problem at all, as long it could eat undisturbed in the forest.

The feeling of brushing past a brutal fight made Eins let go of that breathe he's been holding for a while. But another shaky voice quickly caught his attention.

"Ei-Eins... Help me... This is heavy..." Evan Young is still holding the branch in both hands. While fifteen kilograms weren't too heavy for an adult, it was challenging if you had to keep it off the ground for five to ten minutes without changing your posture.

Without further ado, Eins quickly grabbed the other end of the wooden branch. This allowed Evan to have a deep breath of his own.

The two then discussed how to transport this treasure home. Since it was an unexpected harvest, Eins was unprepared, and he had no linen or wrapping clothes with him to keep this thing covered. Without something to wrap this, it would definitely be contaminated with dirty matters if they transport this back to the village.

Luckily, Evan Young had something that might help them with this concern.

He quickly searched inside his rucksack for foldable harvest baskets, which are more than capable of carrying fifty kilograms of content without compromising the transportability. Since it was made using modern technology, this mesh woven basket even had a lid to prevent contaminants from entering.

The two discussed what to do next and quickly agreed on heading back to the Fang-Boar Village as soon as possible.

But they were attacked right away on their way back. The two just had to accidentally get inside the territory that belonged to a group of Forest Slimes.

The fight wasn't too challenging for both of them. But out of nowhere, Evan Young suddenly came up with something in his mind.

"Eins! Please destroy the Magicule-Stone inside the Forest Slime instead of cutting them apart! Just doing a few would do!" Evan Young respectfully asked for a favor from him.

"Little brother, are you sure you want to do this instead of extracting the Magicule-Stone from them?" Eins asked. It wasn't like the request was impossible to fulfill, and all he needed was more effort to do the work correctly.

"Yes, Eins. Please. I'll let you know the reason later when we get home!" Evan Young replied to Eins' question with a firm expression.

Eins felt it would be rude to tell Evan that collecting the dead Forest Slime was pointless, especially not when the latter had such an expression on his face.

But he had no idea he would regret thinking like this two days later.

As it wasn't an impossible request to be done, the two give some effort to make this possible. Out of the group of Forest Slimes they fought, the two managed to collect four dead Forest Slimes with them on their way back to the village.

Their return to the village was abrupt, but it was expected by the village guards. Both of them were allowed to enter the settlement without hindrance.

And instead of wandering around the village aimlessly, the two went straight to the home. Even their bath could wait as Eins whispered something beside Esther's ear after he stepped inside their house.

"What did you just say?" Esther had a face of disbelief as she unconsciously raised her voice. She had difficulties believing what she was told by Eins.

And this is precisely the moment of truth for them. With a sign from Eins, Evan Young unzipped the harvest basket and pulled the wooden branch with Forest Weaver's Silky Thread out.

It seems that the thread is much lighter than before after the water content inside dried off. The fluffiness of the lines also makes it much smoother to touch.

The mother and daughter pair immediately jumped uncontrollably as they were happy with what Eins and Evan Young brought home. From how it looks, they won't have any problem going foraging in the Rook Hill Forest anymore later on.
