[002]-[Monster: Forest Slime]

[Description:]

Fragile monster with an excellent affinity to Mana. Very volatile beings that treat anything else other than plants as enemies. Highly territorial. Have a fragile bead size Magicule-Stone inside their slimy body. A dead Forest Slime would slowly turn into edible gelatin when they're left with the destroyed Magicule-Stone in their body. Other than that, the body of a Forest Slime is practically useless]

"Ah, damn..." Evan Young cussed softly while reading the new contents updated inside the leather book in his hand. He seems to be blaming himself for cutting the Forest Slime apart in his ruthless effort to kill them.

From the look of it, the few monsters were hardly enough to threaten Eins and himself. Of course, if more were coming at them right now, they'd be overwhelmed by the number of monsters.

They were inside the forest for barely an hour, but their fatigue was already catching up to them. Even to an experienced adventurer, all they could muster is between two to three hours of activity before feeling exhausted.

Unlike fighting in the open, an attack could come from all directions inside a forest.

Both of them soon took a rest after that exciting battle. While killing the Forest Goblins and Slimes took not much effort from them, the dismantling process did. Adventurer or hunter, everyone who came into the forest will have to be responsible for what they killed.

According to Eins, if the dead got resurrected from an accident, it would first search for its killer to enact vengeance.

"Little brother Evan! Come here, quickly!" it was a few minutes of free time for themselves after finishing with the dismantling. And Eins suddenly sounded excited, like he had found something interesting.

Based on his tone, there's a hint sound of gold coins coming out from his cheerfulness. It even made Evan Young curious about what could cause this father of four to sound so happy out of the blue.

He turned around, moving towards where Eins slithered away.

Soon, both of them stand beside a fat-looking worm with the skin resembling the tree's bark it was on. If it was nighttime, perhaps nine out of ten people would assume the worm to be a part of the tree until it was too late.

The worm looked like it was struggling to breathe due to overeating. It was shivering like the weather was too cold for this monster to stay in the open.

But if they were to look at the tree, all the twigs and leaves were gone. Even the dumbest person could have guessed that all of this was the handiwork of this gluttonous worm.

"Little brother Evan, we're lucky today. It seems that my hunch is still as sharp as ever to bring me here to have a look," said Eins. But no matter how happy he was, he didn't extend his hand over to touch the fat, shivering worm.

"I'm sure Esther will be the happiest woman when we bring this home later," he added. His word almost made Evan Young think they would be carrying this chubby worm back to the village.

It seems Eins had no idea his words were puzzling to the inexperienced Evan Young. Since Eins didn't explain it to his companion correctly, the latter was still hidden in the dark about what they'd be doing.

But there was one thing Evan was sure about. And that would be this fat worm might be hardly dangerous since Eins looked quite relaxed standing beside it with a branch in his hand.

"Eins, I know this fellow here looks fat and juicy, but are we really going to drag it home? That wooden branch ain't going to be enough to support its weight." Evan Young said.

He had complete trust towards Eins, but not the worm on the tree. With no experience dealing with a monstrous worm of this size, someone like Evan Young would definitely feel anxious as a first-timer.

"Ah, No, little brother. We're not going to drag this worm back, and what we're bringing back is the silky thread it will spit out very soon. All we need is to wait until it is ready to spit the money out." Eins quickly answered Evan Young's question after he noticed that the latter was wholly misunderstood his words.

"Do you know that out of so many times I sneak into the forest, I only encounter this situation once? Even inexperienced, I managed to earn around two golden chips for it," he added. From his words, it seems that this golden chip he mentioned was part of the currency used here.

"Oh... So what we're going to get from this worm is the thing it will spit out?" Evan Young nodded. He turned his gaze back to the worm again and noticed that the shivering was getting more intense by the second. It should be almost ready to do what Eins was waiting for.

But there should be still a few minutes for an explanation before it reaches the stage to start spitting out whatever Eins was excited about.

"This worm monster is known as Forest Weaver. Their appearance might look weak, but that's because they haven't shed their skin enough. A matured Forest Weaver can grow to the size of a bear."

"As for why I'm so excited right now... It was due to the thread it would spit out. We'll only have a short period to collect as much of the silk as possible. Once the Forest Weaver noticed something is wrong, it will stop doing so and feast again until it devours another tree."

Eins seems to have some experience about what to do because this was his second time doing so.

The two behaved like a bodyguard to the Forest Weaver until it was finally ready to spit the silk out of its mouth.

*Xiii...*

The Forest Weaver suddenly shivered intensely as the silky juices were squirting out from its mouth.

"It's here, little brother! Let us start spinning!" Eins excitedly said.
