God's Cafe

A retired god, Kira, has recently passed on his job to a successful hero and decides to open a cafe for characters from all corners of the multiverse. Heroes, villains, and anything in between are welcome to come hang out, trade, and visit other worlds for missions. ------------------------------------------ My first time writing anything so it's probably gonna be garbage but don't go easy on me. Criticism of all kinds is welcome. I won't make any promises about update consistency, university is hell.

Hunting

Seeing the quest they received, Ruby is about to run off toward the Emerald Forest the village chief pointed at "Gang, onward to greatness!" only to get stopped by Weiss, who grabs her hood barely before she gets out of reach.

Falling to the ground as she loses her balance Ruby looks up at Weiss. "Hey, Weiss, I think you accidentally grabbed my clothes."

"No, you dolt, I did that intentionally," Weiss says as Ruby jumps up to her feet. "Where do you think your going when we don't even have any weapons to fight with?"

"What do you mean? I got my weapon rig-" She says, checking the place where she usually keeps her weapon. "WHERE IS MY CRESCENT ROSE!?"

Hearing Ruby's panicked cry as she checks all over her clothes and the ground around her for the scythe, the rest of team RWBY, along with any nearby villagers, are forced to cover their ears to not go deaf.

"Ow my ears, calm down, Ruby," Blake says, covering the cat ears, which are uncovered on top of her head. "If you hadn't noticed, none of us have our weapons with us, probably couldn't bring them with us into the simulation just like our aura."

"Oh, as long as my crescent rose is safe, it is all good." Ruby nods before asking, "But how are we going to fight without any weapons?"

"Maybe there is a weapon shop around somewhere? But we don't have any money, maybe it expects us to start without any weapons?" Yang says, not bothered about the lack of weapons as she fights with her fists anyway.

"There is indeed a weapon shop at the outskirts of the village, and if you checked your inventory, you would see that we started off with some copper coins," Weiss explains to the two game illiterate people as she starts marching toward the weapon shop.

"Inventory? Ooooh!" Yang exclaims in surprise after another window opens up in front of her eyes.

The team reaches the weapon shop in almost no time flat as the village is tiny. Entering the building, they are greeted by a large bear-like man wearing fur armor. "Welcome adventurers, what can I do for you."

After that, another window opens up with an assortment of weapons and armor in front of all four of them as the shopkeeper goes quiet as a mouse.

"Oh, we can only afford the weakest weapons and no armor," Yang says, quickly picking out some bronze gauntlets.

"Were just gonna have to be careful to not get hit then." Weiss picks out a rapier that somewhat resembles the shape of her Myrtenaster.

Blake picks out a dagger. She would have preferred to have two but couldn't currently afford a second one with the starting amount of coins.

As the three close their shop windows and exit the building, they look around to see no sign of Ruby. "Where did sis run off to? Is she still in the stor-"

Before Yang can finish her sentence, Ruby runs over from the building next door with a scythe in hand. "I'm here, don't worry about me!"

"Why did you run off without us?"

"The weapons shop didn't have scythes, so I went to the farming one over there." She says, pointing her scythe toward the much smaller building next to the weapon shop.

"..." The three don't know what to say. Can that even be used as a weapon?

Eventually, Weiss says, "Well whatever, everyone equip your weapons, and let's go."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So, what's the plan?" Yang asks as the four hide behind a boulder near the edge of the forest.

"The wolves all seem to be in groups of two to four. As long as we don't get the attention of too many at once, we should be fine." Ruby says, "Until we can level up, just focus on fighting the small groups and teaming up on them so we wouldn't get hit."

"So we just charge in there with no plan?" Weiss asks, eyeing the team leader, who shakes her head.

"We go after the groups of two. Me and Weiss team up on one while Yang and Blake take the other." Ruby says, getting a nod from everyone, "One hits the wolf to get its attention, that person will focus on dodging and running away, letting their partner hit it and get its attention, switch roles, rinse and repeat until dead."

The team split up into the two smaller units they agreed upon and approached one of the smaller groups with only two wolves by their lonesome and a lot of open area around them, making it impossible for team RWBY to accidentally draw over a different group of wolves.

The fight itself goes really easily as the girls quickly discover that the wolves are much dumber than grimm. They agro on the one that hits them and only go after that person. If there is someone else in their way, they will just ignore that person and go around them, making it simple to kite them around.

Both units finish their wolves and gather back together at the boulder they were at previously.

"These things are so dumb they almost make grimm look intelligent," Yang says before opening up her inventory. "Hey, the wolf dropped one of the fangs we needed along with some coins."

"I also got a fang and some coins. I guess only the one that deals the finishing blow gets the loot?" Ruby says, holding her scythe on her shoulders.

"All of us got XP, though, even me and Blake despite not dealing the finishing blow, there looks to be some sort of system in place to track participation," Weiss says, drawing a question from Yang.

"How can you see XP we have?"

"Oh, you just go to the settings and make it so you can see your teammate's health, mana, and XP at all times in the corner of your view. You can even choose which corner you want it to be in." Weiss says, making Yang and Blake go to their settings. Ruby had already looked through them earlier.

"You couldn't have told us that before? Not all of us know games that well." Yang says to which Blake nods, saying she prefers books.

"Books? More like smu-" Yang doesn't finish her sentence as she gets a glare from Blake.

"Has everyone caught their breath and are ready to head out again?" Ruby asks, and everyone confirms they are good to go. "Then let's go kill more wolves, by my estimate, we need four more small groups to level up."

What they don't know yet is that leveling up and getting stronger fast can be very addicting.
