Chapter 2- A System With A Soul

Gaming means to ruthlessly fight your opponent to the death in a virtual world. Skills however have become so much a part of people because of this they transferred into the real world when mana was invented.

Sitting on "my" bed I thought back to the excitement that had happened before I fell asleep. When I had awoken though I found a maid was next to my bed checking my physical condition. Nodding she gave a final OK for no lingering injuries, past my "amnesia" of course.

Noticing I was awake she left me with my new dad in the room. We both weren't sure how to talk to each other once more. Knowing I needed to at least play my part I made a nod he would noticed and got up and walked over to him. Standing before him a bowed a bit to show I still had some sort of "memories" for basic survival in this world of ours. This of course greatly relieved the man, while at the same time making him worry about how I would act from now on. After all if I showed up acting differently in some people's presences they might think I was an impostor, so with a strained smile he started talking about how I should act from then on.

It was kind of funny watching a man try and enforce bad behavior in a kid. Thanks to it I knew I would be able to play my part now. The man finally fully seemed to cheer up as well. Thinking I subconsciously was adapting fast because their was still a figment of his son still behind.

The point you could be seen in everyone of his actions. He tried to make me remember and that hurt me inside knowing what I was doing to this man. I tried to ignore it, but the guilt eat me up before it was gone. That was strange I thought to myself preparing to discard the thought before I realized something. I never discard thoughts no matter what they were. I felt something trying to prevent me from thinking about things to deeply, but it was failing.

I knew what it was. It was the system trying to make me an ideal puppet for itself, but how do I do anything about that. Thinking about what all games did I decided to try something.

"Skills List."

This of course startled my father who I had forgotten about. He seemed to jump in joy for a second. "So you remember your skills. I am so glad. Tell me what they are I need to see if you forgot any of your skills."

I was to preoccupied however at the moment to answer. At the top of the list was the Gamer's Mind skill that gave the system 1% control over my emotions per level. It appeared that the system had been power leveling it with it's power. It also left me with a smile with a realization. The system had a battery of sorts. It also had rules to restrict the controlling of myself or why would the system be giving so much effort for this one skill. With a smile I clicked on the skill and immediatly refunded the skill. This was something possible for any skill. You can refund a skill and get back all of your experience you spent upon it. The skill now gone gave me another surprise.

"Due to refunding a legendary skill you can select any rare level skill." My own personal system first responded before I heard a scream in frustration. It was obvious I had just stopped the system from winning it's "rightful" control of my body. It was now once more at my mercy and not the other way around. I was thankful in that moment more than any other time for being myself at that moment. After all it was being me that saved me from being possessed.

"Pest how dare you take my freedom away. I have been saving back that power for over 2000 years how dare you." Smiling I gave a cold chilly look in my mind and asked in a "polite" voice "And your freedom is my slavery. Why should I look you even in the face when I tell you to buzz off for that. That got the system extremely mad. " How dare you you insolent creature. I'll just send your soul out and pick a new host. That's when I made my skill choice."

"System give me the Rouge Soul Capturing Technique."

The reason I even knew this skill was because it was the reason a certain Necromancer took over the world a long many years ago before he was then over thrown. The technique allowed the user to capture permanently a soul that has no body and bind it to it's master's wishes. No matter how powerful that soul is. Of course the technique doesn't work if the soul is using a anchor, or has grown powerful enough to materialized flesh for itself. For this system however that has failed to capture me it was a death sentence. So with a flash of light from my hand a beam shot back into my own body and took the system from inside me and bound it into a loyal servant.

It was a wonderful moment. It was the start of my journey to be the greatest gamer of all time.
