Chapter 1- How The World Switched From Warriors To Gamers

Technology is a finicky thing at times. It can be the main helper of something and also the destroyer of things. New technology of war had always been a problem. Then the most amazing thing had occurred. A man managed to invent a machine that could produce mana. He was able to blend in games and reality to terraform the world. It was a truly amazing sight. Cities became even more advanced to the point where any thing was possible except for one law of the world. The eventual death of a person. Sure we figured out ways to prolong it for hundreds of years, but the body would always fail. Eventually, but that is besides the point.

The world had changed into a technological age unlike any other. With one primal human urge that got worse as we actually advanced as a race. We had evolved to love fights, action, and pain even more. We had turned into blood loving people as a whole. I included was no exception. Give or take I was a bit more level headed than the average person. I picked fights weekly. Occasionally even twice a week.

So here I was once more on the ground bruised and beaten up because although I picked fights like any hot blooded person I always lost. I was a loser in this world where skills were everything. I didn't have the cash or the money to seek games to play and increase my skills either. I wished at times that I had just been born in such rich playboys life. In that second I felt myself reel from an impact. Then everything went dark. It appeared to me in a realization I had picked a fight with the wrong group this time.

Hours passed by and I felt light return back into my eyes. Looking around I noticed I was in a unfamiliar room. I was also scarred out of my wits for a moment when I noticed a mirror that had a different person in them. The person staring in my face was a rich boy from the news the previous day. He had gotten in a accident and nearly died then and there. It was now that person within my eyes.

Looking around I noticed a gaming station in the corner of my room. I also noticed all the games next to it. That's when I felt a burning feeling in my head. New Host has been found. Gaming System has been activated. Absorbing all of hosts current games and playing station to make them portable for the host. Then all the items were gone in a blink of an eye. No longer did they seem to exist. In that second I heard the door start to creak as a maid opened the door.

For a second she seemed to look at me in wonder before she turned around and ran as fast as she could away from here. Stuck in a stupor I just waited there unsure what to do. Was I even allowed to get up. Would they figure out I'm not the person they knew? All my worries seemed unfounded however when my "Father" ran in. Then he grabbed me and cried a little. It seemed he had been worried for this person's body. I pitied him knowing his son was most likely dead. My father looked around the room and noticed the missing equipment. Thinking but a second he decided to call someone to get him a new game system and the old games back.

He would track the thief down for sure. Looking me over a few more times he got up and sit in a chair. The air was heavy with neither of us knowing what to say. I made a choice in my mind at this moment. I decided to play the part of a person with amnesia. "So are you my Dad?"

Started by the sudden talking he almost fell to the floor once he processed what I had said. In a fit of rage he started up on some prepared speech about how I should become responsible before it hit him once more "Do you remember me Dias?" Shaking my head in a nervous no I saw him once more break down crying on the ground once he realized I was serious and not playing around. He started speaking from that moment on "You are my son. Your name is Dias. You are 17 years old this year. Your mom passed away when you were a year old," and so he went on and on about this body's life.

It honestly surprised me with the idea that I was such a disturbance maker. I had been a child who had always made trouble for anyone. Sure I wasn't over bearing or anything with the things I did, but I was still worse than an average kid. According to the man however my accident had came from a car wreck. The news had also said the same thing so I thought it was most likely his way of protecting me. After all I could just go blab all about it to the first guy I met with my supposed amnesia.

Eventually I had my mind fully steadied with all the craziness of the day except for one thing. I also now had a system I realized to myself in a bit of a smile. That also quickly turned into a frown as I knew I didn't know anyway to work with the strange device. I hadn't freaked out because systems were common in this world. They were all man made constructs that gave a task to a host and helped them achieve that goal depending upon what was made within the systems memory. That was all they could do of course which was the reason for excitement and fear when I realized my system had the ability to absorb electronic information from the games and the matter it had itself.

Would I also be able to absorb other electronics I wondered to myself as I looked at the newly brought in system and games.

"System already has a copy of all of these games and console."

Blinking in surprise at the suddenness I jumped in my seat. Thankfully everyone had left the room in the excuse of letting me rest. Most likely they were just giving me a bit of time to think and hopefully remember something. I was their son after all, and even if they didn't like my previous "self" they wanted to help me.

Putting back my attention to the system I wondered for a second. Is this the reason I was alive right now.

"That is correct host. Please bow down to this magnanimous system and offer your thanks."

Hearing the words spoken I was at first happy until I myself processed what it had said "Why you annoying thing. Even If I'm grateful for your help it doesn't mean you can disrespect me when you want."

The system however did something that just made my blood boil.

"Why thank you for the thanks host. At least you are a dog with better manners than my last host."

That's when it kicked in "wait are you this body's previous system." With a smile the voice gave a so-so gesture somehow in my mind.

"I have combined with this host's system, but I decided I didn't like him so I killed him off when he was on the verge of collapse and took your soul and stuffed it into his body. Now I have his high talent with your right attitude. Statistically you should be my perfect host."

That took me a second to process "so why did you need my soul that made me so perfect for you," I couldn't hide my inquisitor nature as I wanted at that second to know more than anything else.

"You host have the highest want to play any games around you and learn from them."

That however reminded me of how I had died as well as my final wish. I guessed that at that moment some deity or something had answered my wish. So with a smile I accepted all that had happened in these crazy few moments of my life that would change everything about me from this point on.
