Chapter 19

 Max's POV

With a heavy heart, I followed Priscilla out of the room. "Priscilla, I apologize. I will find you a job, I promise," I said, quickening my pace to keep up with her. Priscilla hopped off the bed, a tearful smile spreading across her face. I couldn't understand her sudden change in demeanor; one moment she was crying, and the next she was beaming.

"Really? When will you find me a job?" Priscilla exclaimed, overjoyed at the prospect of employment.

"You already have a job. You want to work, right? You can work for me, and I will pay you," I suggested. Priscilla's expression soured.

"What exactly would I be doing?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest. Of course, she was suspicious.

"You will choose my outfits every day," I said, and Priscilla gave me an irritated glare.

I shook my head at her stubbornness. "You will also make my bed every morning," I added, but it only earned me another scowl.

"You will punch me every morning," I joked, and Priscilla smirked. She was pleased with the idea of punching me in the face.

"Okay, now that you've said it, I can't refuse, can I?" Priscilla squinted at me and flashed a grin. "It's your wish, after all. How much will you pay me?"

"How much do you want me to pay you?" I asked, not wanting to upset her any further.

"Well, I'll think about that later," Priscilla said, yawning. "I just want to sleep for now." Tossing her body onto the bed like a sack of potatoes, she closed her eyes. I sighed and walked over to her. I tucked her into the blankets and watched her sleep.

I couldn't help but think that all of this was my fault. If only Nelly hadn't betrayed me, none of this would have happened. I wouldn't have put Priscilla through all of this, but I didn't have a choice. I felt helpless. I hoped that Nelly's karma would catch up with her for whatever she did to me.

In the morning, I would try to get Priscilla to take her medicine. She must have been exhausted after such a long and emotional day.

 Priscilla's POV

I squinted my eyes at the rays of sunshine That entered the room through the window… Opening my eyes, I sat on the bed… I stretched my body, yawning, I was feeling better today, my body wasn't aching at all… But I was hungry, I could hear my stomach making noises… I looked around my room. Sighing, I rose from the bed and walked to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I took off my clothes and entered the shower, allowing the warm water to ascend down my body… After bathing, I wrapped a towel around my body and started brushing my teeth… After I finished brushing my teeth, I walked out of the bathroom. I was welcomed by a delicious aroma of food, my eyes twinkled when I saw Max sitting on my bed with a tray of food next to him.

"I'm glad you realized I must be hungry," I said as I walked over to the bed. I reached for the tray of food, but Max stopped me.

"Wait a minute, you're not going to eat naked, are you?" Max asked, swatting my hand away. "Go put something on first."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Just because you're a man, I have to cover up? That's ridiculous."

"Don't be naive," Max chuckled. "Just get dressed first."

I tightened the towel around me, then grabbed the tray of food and started eating. I could feel Max's eyes on me, but I pretended not to notice.

"Thanks for breakfast, I'm full now," I said as I finished up.

"Time for your medicine," Max reminded me, holding out the pills.

I groaned inwardly, but obediently took the pills and washed them down with water.

"Happy?" I asked sarcastically.

"Very," Max replied with a smile. "Now go get dressed, you have class soon."

I went to the closet and rummaged through the clothes. I wasn't too fond of any of them, but I settled on a short skirt, crop top, and sneakers. I combed my hair and applied some lotion before emerging from the closet.

Max was still lounging on the bed when I walked out.

"Don't you have a company to run?" I asked irritably.

"I do, but I'm focused on taking care of you at the moment," he said.

I raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Behaving like a gentleman now, are we?"

"Do you have a problem with me taking care of you?" Max asked defensively.

"Well, even if I did, it's not like I have a choice. After all, it's your baby" I said with a sour expression. "

"I'll be here for you until you give birth," Max promised. "Where do you want to go today? You don't look like you want to attend any classes or stay home."

"I don't know," I admitted.

"Well then, I'll take you somewhere," Max said with a smile. We headed out, and I couldn't help feeling a bit grateful that I wouldn't be stuck at home all day…

 Max's POV

As Priscilla and I descended the stairs, I was taken aback by the sight of Nelly and my uncle in the dining room. Seriously, what do they want now?

Priscilla leaned in and whispered, "I don't know why, but I hate your ex-wife. She makes me nauseous."

"Don't worry, she won't do anything to you while I'm around," I reassured her, whispering back,

Holding her hand, we entered the dining room and greeted Granny together. "Good morning Granny," we chimed in unison. Granny smiled warmly, while Lizy shot daggers at Nelly, who seemed to be lounging on my couch as if she owned the place.

And then, with a seductive smile, Nelly greeted me with, "How are you, Max?"

Priscilla couldn't hold back her annoyance and hissed, "Don't tell me you came here just to seduce my man!"

I have to admit, Priscilla's not one to mince words. She went from acting like a naive child to dropping the word "seduce" like a pro. What a weirdo she is. But hey, I'm all for Priscilla defending her territory.

"How dare you talk to my woman like that? Why would she seduce other men when I'm here." My uncle retorted, Priscilla scoffed.

"You are older than me but I'm sorry to say this but you are the biggest fool uncle… What makes you think that she will be faithful to you when she couldn't be faithful to her husband… A dog does not change the way it barks, I will not sit back and allow her to seduce my man in my watch. "Priscilla said stubbornly, I felt like laughing, this Is not the Priscilla who was sobbing yesterday because of wanting to work.

" I cheated, but I'm not like you, a street kid begging for money and eating leftovers. You're just a beggar who trapped Max with a pregnancy." Priscilla looks like she's about to cry again, damn Nelly for being here.

"There's a big difference between us, but at the end of the day, we were both beggars. I worked hard washing cars for money, while you beg your husband for money. I'm the real woman here because I earned my money, unlike you who just sits around waiting for someone else's child to give you their hard-earned money. "

Priscilla surprised me with her response, she was angry but didn't cry.

"Are you calling me a gold digger?" Nelly fumed.

"You said it yourself," Priscilla shot back.

"Max, if you don't stop your woman from talking nonsense, then I'm going to stop her," my uncle said, and Priscilla glared at him.

"Why aren't you talking to me directly? Deep down, you know that Nelly is a gold digger. Just like Max, she will chew you like chewing gum, and when chewing gum loses the taste, it is tossed aside," Priscilla said, her annoyance palpable.

"Priscilla is right. I don't even know what kind of shameless woman Nelly is," Lizy said, glaring at Nelly, whose face was red with anger.

"I'm going to take a nap," Granny said, sighing. Liz helped her stand up and took her upstairs.

"You came for Granny, right? Granny is gone. You both know where the door is. Please excuse us," Priscilla said.

"You..." My uncle opened his mouth to say something, but I stopped him.

"Please leave my house," I said coldly.

"I will teach this woman of yours a good lesson," Nelly fumed as she rose from the couch.

"Toothless dogs bark a lot without doing anything," Priscilla yelled as they both walked away.

Priscilla pulled her hands from mine, her face red with anger. "And you….Why are you so good….You just keep quiet and watch the woman who cheated on you do as she pleases in your own house….Are you crazy?" Priscilla said angrily.

"What should I do? Should I hit her, shout, and yell….Will that change the fact that she cheated on me.? I asked her.

"You know what….From today onwards, I will fight all your battles if you can't do it….I will not let anyone disrespect you in my presence, just wait and watch how I teach that useless ex-wife of yours a lesson.

" Priscilla, let it go now ... .Why would you want to teach her a lesson? It is in the past now, we can't always hold onto anger and the past, it will only fill our hearts with unnecessary resentment." I tried to explain to her.

"Of course, you are going to say that but I'm not letting this go… I will teach them a lesson and that's final.''Priscilla said angrily, rising from the chair, she stormed upstairs.
