Chapter 7

"You have the Mama Award this Saturday night," reminded Ed.

"Can't I skip this event. I am very tired. I just finished filming two action movies and my body is still aching from all those action stunts I did. I just touched down in Hong Kong and I haven't even seen Bella yet. I promised to spend time with her this weekend," I lamented.

"I am afraid you can't, Louis. You will be one of the award presenter that night," explained Ed.

"I am so tired, Ed," I complained.

"I know. I will try to free next week for you before the promotion tour for your new movie starts," said Ed.

I feel so guilty not being able to keep my promise to Bella.

Bella is my niece.

My sister and her husband passed away half a year ago. They were involved in a car accident while traveling around Europe last year. It was snowing heavily the car they were in skidded and crashed into a ravine.

Bella was in Hong Kong with her babysitter. She was only four years old.

My sister and her husband named me as her sole guardian in their will.

I became a father to my niece overnight. I am not sure if I can be a good father to her.

I had been in many relationships before but most of it did not last for more than a year. I am always busy and couldn't put much time in each relationship causing my other half to get hurt.

After my last break-up, I decided not to get into anymore relationship. I do not want to break any more hearts as well as my own. I just wanted to concentrate on my career and take good care of Bella. I am still trying my best for the latter.

I promised her that I will bring her to the theme park once I finished filming but it seems that we have to wait for another week.

"Oh ya I forgot to inform you. Bella's nanny called to inform that she can't continue to take care of Bella as she has to return to her hometown in Nanjing to take care of her ailing mother," informed Ed.

"Could you help me to call the nanny agencies to find some candidates. I would like to interview them myself," I told Ed.

"I called them and they do not have any available nannies at the moment. It's the school holiday season now. Most of the nannies are fully booked," answered Ed softly.

"This is a disaster, Ed. Where do you expect me to find an experienced nanny in less than two weeks," I sighed.

"I will help you to ask around. Maybe we will get lucky," answered Ed.

"Hopefully a miracle will happen," I hoped.
