Chapter 6

"At last after so many sleepless nights we graduated from law school!" I screamed with excitement while throwing my graduation hat into the air.

Today is the happiest day of my life. After working hard for four years I managed to graduate and passed my bar examination.

"Freedom at last! We can go and conquer the world now," shouted my best friend, Jennifer Song.

I met Jennifer during the orientation week in my first year. Since then we were inseparable. Both of us studied in the same program and lived in the same hostel.

She is Korean but was born in Manchester. Her parents are engineers. They migrated to England after they graduated from their universities.

"Congratulations my dear. Your mother and I are very proud of you. Your speech was excellent. You deserve to be the valedictorian of your year," Mr Kim congratulated me.

"Thank you dad and mum for flying out to attend my graduation," I said and went to hug both of them.

"So what are you girls planning to do after this?" asked Mr Kim.

"We planned to make a trip to Hong Kong. Jennifer got free tickets to this year Mama Award. She is into K-pop," I answered.

"Seems like a fun plan to me," answered Mr. Kim.

"Yes, I can't wait to meet BTS. We even had a backstage pass!" shriek Jennifer.

I just rolled my eyes looking at how excited she is. I am never into all of these but I had no choice. Jennifer practically talks about it everyday. Her favorite group is BTS. She even made me go to their fan meeting when they came to London last year.

I do not understand why girls go crazy about them. I nearly died on the spot when I got squashed among hundreds of screaming girls fan during the fan meet up. I rather stayed in my room studying or read in the library.

To be honest, Jennifer and I clicked because we complemented each other. She is fun and out-going while for me, I am a nerd. She is like a firework in my life. Without her my university life would be a boring one.

We are currently looking for a position in law firms around London. I will be moving to a small apartment downtown while Jennifer will be moving in with her long-term boyfriend, Jeff.

Jeff graduated a year before us. He studied mechanical engineering and was one year our senior. They met in a bar near the university one night and it was like love at first sight. They were glued to each other since then.

"My parents and Jeff are waiting for us. Should we proceed to the restaurant for a celebratory lunch," suggested Jennifer.

"Alright, let's go," said my mother.
