Chapter 3

The days couldn't go by any slower, dealing with school and her father's constant remarks to be safe on her trip was getting tiring. Finally, the day came to head to the facility.

"Don't forget to call everyday."

"I will mom."

"And, don't forget about your lanyard, you have an emergency button on it, and a pocket knife, and-"

"Dad, I'm not going to be fighting the MINELS, you don't need to worry about me, OK?"

"I know, but I won't have my baby girl for a whole 2 weeks! I don't know what I'm going to do here!"

"You have Tyler."

"Oh him? . . . What will I ever do without you Mel?" Her father cried

"Wow, I have such a loving father." Her brother said

"My little girl is all grown up now, already getting an internship," Her mother sighed.

Not a moment later, there was a honk and the bus was there. She said goodbye to her parents and the bullet bus was speeding her to HEAVEN, home of the ANGELS.

The trip was quiet, the rest of the interns, none of which were from her school, were silent. Her seatmate only shot her a glare when Melony gave her a wave.

Seems the people here aren't very friendly.

It only took a few hours before they were already there, the beautiful white building stood there in all its glory, a wall blocked the main institute from the battle zones.

A tour guide led her and the rest of the interns to their rooms, giving them a quick tour of their mess hall. They would get an official tour of the building the next day.

While walking there, she saw someone who looked to be a researcher inputting a weird code into one of the locked doors. She could clearly see the code he put in.

Melony got a room all for herself, but it seemed they expected more people as she had a bunk bed. Taking the top bunk, she flopped on the bed and let her parents know that she was ok.

Tired from the long drive, she left unpacking for the next day and drifted off into a deep sleep, one which she would painfully regret when she woke up the following day.

In said dream, she awoke in a field of nothing but white flowers. The field stretched out to as far as she could see, but when she looked closely, there was another person there. She tried to call out to them, ask where they were, but there was no sound out of her mouth. Instead she was assaulted by a sharp piercing noise. It seems like the person she was trying to talk to was also hearing it, but they were in much more pain than her. Grabbing their head and shouting, a silent scream, that no one but her could hear. Melony tried to go closer to the person, perhaps to help them, but the noise got sharper and louder the closer she got to them. Until she finally woke up, bagging her head against the ceiling.

"Ow! Dang that hurt! Dad would make me come back home if he found out I overslept, and hit my head on the first day of training. But that dream was so weird, I wonder what it was about . . . meh, probably nothing much" She thought.

Working was just as she expected, papers, printing, making coffee, despite what the flyer said, they weren't allowed to see the ANGELS. It was disappointing, but she could occasionally see one flying past a window, it would just be a glimpse, but it was a truly amazing sight.

At the end of her first week, she had the most arduous task imaginable, she had to bring a stack of copies from the 7th floor, all the way to the basement. Now this would've been easy, if the elevator was working. Of course she could ask for some help, but everyone seemed to have a weird hatred for her. So Melony made the long trek down to the basement.

Finally at the basement and out of breath from the stack of papers she was holding, her noodle arms had to give up on her, and she dropped them.

Falling around her, she groaned and began to pick them up one by one, grumbling at her lack of strength. Picking up the last paper, she realized that some had slipped through the somewhat see-through door next to her. Groaning again, she tried to push open the door, only to realize it was locked. It was a keypad, and remembering the code the researcher had put in the week before, she decided to try it. Surprisingly, it was correct, and the door slid open, letting her pick up her mistake.

It was only after she had picked up the actual last paper that she saw it, an ANGEL, it was just as beautiful as she thought. Walking closer to the face, she looked at it. A crisp white exterior with black accents lining parts of its face, a black v-shaped ark marked its forehead and what looked to be a hidden horn was tucked away between the v. Her admiration was put to a halt after a voice suddenly pulled her away.

I hope everyone is having a great time reading the story so far. I decided to post another chapter because why not. Have a good day and I'll see you later Angels!
