Chapter 2

School has got to be a punishment for children, despite it being in the future with machines that mainly do every obscure task possible, children still need to go to school. What is the point of being so advanced if you can't automatically get the information straight into your head?

Similarly to every live action Disney movie, Melony woke up late after snoozing her alarm 4 times in a row. Except the only difference was no mother screaming at her to get up or she'll miss the bus (She had given up at this point). There was only her internal screaming as she was trying to put on some clothes. Grabbing breakfast and preparing a quick sandwich for lunch she jumped out the door; before going back and quickly giving her elderly cat, Napoleon, a kiss.

Jumping out the door for the second time, it was a race against her, and her goldfish attention span. And while it was tempting to get a cookie from the local bakery she passed by, Melony managed to make it to school on time.

Looking at her schedule it was an easy day, except for the first period, which was math. Then it was chemistry, then it was history, and it was not an easy day but she just liked to say it was.

First period, math, was of course a hassle for her to deal with. Not only was her pea brain unable to understand what was happening, but spending the night contemplating where the ash goes after a log burns was not at all helping her. The teacher, who loved to make her life difficult, noticed her sulking, and decided it was a perfect day for a pop quiz. Luckily, the bell rang before such a heinous activity could take place.

Rushing out of her classroom, she passed by the school bulletin board, which had the usual activities flagged on it. Join the Musical, or, Band Club Tonight!, and, Internships at HEAVEN-, what.

Ripping off the paper she quickly flew through the contents of the sheet.

10 interns at her school would be allowed to go to HEAVEN, the home of the ANGELS, for 2 weeks. Letting them see the ANGELS, talk to the pilots for the ANGELS, see the manufacturing process, work inside control rooms, ect. Of course, it said nothing about piloting an ANGEL, but that wasn't so much of an issue for her. All she needed to do was submit an application to the institute, get a signature from her parents, and the school's permission.

The first and last things on the list were easy, but getting a signature from her parents was going to be impossible. Her father hated ANGELS and although her mother didn't hate them, there was no way she was going to allow Melony to do something so dangerous. Now the only way that she was going to possibly get in is if somehow her parents got a change of heart, or, if she managed to forge their signatures. But they would most likely wonder why she would be missing for 2 weeks so that wouldn't work. There was only one option left, she had to lie, which was fairly easy but lies always bit her in the butt so it was a gamble. Needless to say she went with option 1, only with her mother though.

"Hey mom, you know I love you right?" She asked as she hugged her mother, who was standing at the counter making dinner.

"What do you want, sweetie?" Her mother was an expert at detecting Melony's horrible sweet talking.

"Mom, there's an internship at HEAVEN, can't you let me go? Please!" She begged

"Dear, you know how dangerous that place is, all those robot things and stuff. Plus your father would never allow it."

"I have a plan! Don't worry, I won't even be close to the ANGELS, I would just be doing simple office work, like organizing papers, giving coffee, and working on computers! I wouldn't even have to be close to them!"

Her mother sighed at her,

"Alright, how long is it for? Plus would they be giving you anything else?"

"It's for two weeks, oh, and they're offering a wage for us interns."

"Really?" Her mothers eyes gleamed at the thought of money.

"Yeah, it's pretty good, it starts at $40-"

"I'm sure your father would have a change of heart!" She knew her mother would cave at the thought of her making money.

Now that she had made it past the first obstacle, there was only one more challenge left, her father.

He was watching the news as he usually did. His face hardened and rugged, looking like a war veteran, which he was. All she knew about her father's time in the army was he was part of the group of people that were fighting the MINELS using guns and weapons, perhaps that was why he hated the ANGELS so much.

"Hey Dad, can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, what is it? Something happened at school?"

"No, well, I found it at school, but it's not-.*sigh* I found a paper for an internship at HEAVEN, it's only for 2 weeks and it pays really well, I won't be doing anything with the ANGELS i'll just-"

"Fine."

"Dad I promise I'll be careful and- wait what?"

"If it pays well and you won't be doing anything with those robots, then it's ok. What, you think I'd just scream at you?"

"Yeah, kinda."

"You doubt your old man, come here, give your old man a hug."

She smiled and gave him a hug, he made sure to remind her to stay away from the ANGELS and to ignore the boys that came at her.

Going to her room, she was ecstatic, her dream was some-what coming true, and she couldn't wait.

Celebration would have to wait, as her brother burst into her room and yelled at her.

"Hey! I heard that you're going to fight those robot thingies. Are you going to be on the news now?"

"Why does everyone call them robots, no I'm not Tyler! Now get out of my room!" She yelled, slamming the door on him.

Hey there Angels! I hope everyone likes the story so far, please let me know how you're liking it! Have a good day, and I'll see you in the skies!
