Another One

3 WEEKS LATER

In the aftermath of their hard-fought victory against The Consortium and several other victories against Metahumans, the "heroes" of Central City found a quiet moment to catch up, talk about previous battles and their friendships that had been forged in the fire of their continuous trials.

Seated in the cozy lounge of S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry, Caitlin and Cisco shared stories from their past, allowing their laughter to echo throughout the room. Their camaraderie was not just a byproduct of their shared trials and heroics; it was a testament to the deep friendship that had flourished over the years.

Caitlin leaned back in her chair, mischief dancing in her eyes. "So, guys, remember that time we had to stop Captain Cold and Heat Wave from robbing the museum?"

Cisco's face lit up with amusement. "Oh, the was an icy showdown for sure. I genuinely thought I might turn into a popsicle that night."

Barry chimed in with a warm smile. "We couldn't have taken them down without your gadgets and quick-thinking man. It feels so good to drop crimefighting for a day and relax."

Their reminiscences were momentarily interrupted when Caitlin's tablet chimed with a message. It was from a former colleague at the hospital where she once worked. The message detailed an upcoming charity event, offering an opportunity to reconnect with some of their old friends from her medical past.

Caitlin paused, a trace of nostalgia in her voice. "I used to volunteer at the that hospital, you know. It might be nice to catch up with old friends."

Caitlin paused, a trace of nostalgia in her voice. "I used to volunteer at that hospital, you know. It might be nice to catch up with some of my old friends."

"Sure."

"Totally."

"I think you should attend. It's important to preserve connections outside our 'hero duties.'" Barry said giving a thumbs up.

She smiled and raised her brow, "So! Do you two want to come along?"

Coincidentally at that same moment, Barry's phone rang.

After about a minute, he hung up, his tone immediately turning serious. "Joe called me in. There's a case that needs my... expertise. Cisco, you go with her for now. If I get to finish early, I'll join up with your guys later."

"Okay. Go do what you have to do." Caitlin said, an undetectable underlying tone of disappointment in her voice.

"Alright then."

...

FAR NORTH, CENTRAL CITY.

Barry arrived at a bank as Joe had directed him. Immediately he got there, he could see Joe inside talking to the workers of the bank.

"Hey, what's up Joe?"

Joe looked up as Barry called him and motioned to the workers that he'll be back with them shortly.

"Welcome. So, let's get to work immediately." Joe's tone turned serious as he signaled for Barry to follow him to a quieter area of the Bank.

"So, I figured I could use someone with your 'expertise' on this case."

"Sure." he said, eager to hop on whatever Joe had for him.

"Someone has managed to gain access to the bank account of Jesse Chambers, her signatures and legal books. What's even more he transferred a few millions out of the account to a no-name account where he withdrew all the money. Only problem is that it was so clean that there was no flaw."

"CCTV didn't get his face. We...we even ran a voice search. Nothing! The only lead we have right now is we know the bank and account he transferred to." Joe said, pinching his temple in frustration.

"This screams "Metahuman" right now. I can't think of any normal criminal who would be able to pull out a scheme so foolproof." Barry said as he leaned against the wall.

He paused for a moment before he continued, "Only that this kind is different from many of those we've dealt with. Vastly different."

"Anyway, look around the crime scene and see what you can find. I'll see what I can get from the witnesses." Joe said and left to continue his investigation.

Barry brought out his forensic kits and got to work on the scene, examining the surrounding area with practiced flair.

Upon moving closer to the counter, something extremely out of the ordinary happened. His system sent a very peculiar notification.

—Tachyon Particles detected...—

'Tachyon particles?' Even if that was the 'first' time he heard it, he immediately understood it.

'If these are really tachyon particles, then we're going to have a hell of a problem to deal with.'

He got up and went to find Joe talking to him about what he just found, making sure to attribute it to forensic science.

"You know I was never good at the sciency-stuff. Surface explanations, please."

Barry took a deep breath and calmly stated, "Tachyon particles indicate that whoever we're dealing with right now is someone who can move really really fast. Another less probable reason would be that they were working with one."

"So, this time, we have on our hands another..."Flash" and this one isn't our friendly neighborhood hero. F*ck."
