Attack On Titan

Now before I start let me just say this contains spoilers and I do not by any means support murder of any sort.

I don't disagree with Erin's idea of world genocide. Not completely anyway. Now let me explain myself, Erin and the island him and everybody was living on was going to get murdered. All of civilization (the ones introduced to us) hates anybody with the blood of Ymir. Despite the people of Marley being told by Tybur that everything they knew about the people of Ymir was a lie and that they aren't actual devils, Tybur still proclaimed war because he knew Erin would take revenge because of the sequence of events that the Marley people started. He said they were still a threat, so ignore the fact that they're human just like us and you've been lied to since the beginning of time.

Then Erin rightfully eats Tybur the moment war is declared. My entire point is that the racism against people of Ymir was already so deep that there was no negotiating or going back. The only reason our main cast from both races came together was to stop Erin from committing genocide. Even then they were still being racist asshats. One thing I will say is that I never expected Erin to go as far along with Zeke's plan as he did. I never expected that he would let all of the soldiers on Paradis Island (where Erin and rest grew up) to be turned into titans. Or that he would crush most of the citizens surrounded by the walls once the rumbling started. Or that he would tell Mikasa what he did about her being a mindless slave to him. Okay, he did a lot of things I never would have expected from him, those not even being the half of it.

In his defense he tried to give negotiating a chance, but when he saw it was futile, which it really was, he went rogue. Now I understand racism can't be changed overnight or people's mind. But that was the problem. He knew there would be much more bloodshed, war, and discrimination if he waited as long as it needed for change to appear. Now is what Erin is doing right? NO. NOT AT ALL! But is it necessary for the survival of everyone on paradis island? Yes. How do you get notice that the entire world is trying to kill you and your people and lay down and take it?

The people of Marley couldn't give two craps about anybody with the blood of Ymir of what would happen to them. Nobody did. It was not just one nation who hated them. It was EVERYBODY! Erin got to them before they could get to him and his family, again. This by no means justifies Erin's actions. What he's doing is really fucked up and he's actually sick in the head. But in a world where your mom, friends, family, and fellow citizens around you have been eaten one by one in front of your face and the people you looked up to turned out to be involved in such actions, you'll go a little crazy. Erin had hope when he thought that someone out there would be a decent human being and reach out. Realizing there was no hope, he became deranged.

This goes farther than an eye for an eye, it's simply survival. It baffles me how the people of Marley destroyed wall Maria and every other wall after that, killing thousands of people, to prevent something that MIGHT happen. And instead triggered such events. Am I saying the people deserved it? No, they were brainwashed, but am I saying the people deserved it? Not gonna say they do but not really mad that it happened. I have no sympathy for the ones who were cruel enough to do what they did. But they feel the exact same way about the people of Ymir. My only problem is these people with Ymir's blood have not done a single thing to them in the present. They're holding on to a grudge that isn't their's to hold onto.

Not to mention the entire story behind Ymir and the way she acquired titan powers was tragic. Oh, should I mention that the only reasons titans exists is because the people of Marley insisted on making them for the sake of some sick, twisted, demented, game of cat and mouse? To punish the people who wouldn't take their crap. It amazes me how shitty people are surprised when they get shat on. It's called Karma and it's a bitch. It's just a shame the current people of Marley had to suffer because of the brainwashing. At the end of the day, the people of Ymir in Marley had to fight for their survival too. You can't be mad at one side or the other when they are each tossing equally terrible blows at one another for more or less the same reasons.

This isn't supposed to be some neat essay or a specific timeline or great explanation. This is just my feelings about the entire situation. It's hard to say you agree with or understand anything in this show without sounding like a terrible person. Just to clarify, I understand where Erin and the Marley people are coming from and their actions. Doesn't mean I like them. And it may not sound believable considering I'm obviously biased towards Erin and the original crew. Oh and by the way can I just say I really hated the pink-haired failure of a person who was like the Co-leader of the yeagerist. He was a complete rat from the beginning, I never liked him. Not to mention he did a lot of crappy things in Erin's name to justify his actions. He was annoying to the very end and I cannot say how happy I am about his…lack of life. Some people should have been eliminated the moment they showed up and he was one of them. (Poor Marco. Guy barley had a season)

And I simply cannot stand Gabby. When that chef hit her with a glass bottle for killing Sasha, I never felt more happy, except when pink-haired-rat died. Now that chef was a real piece of work too. And Conny tryna kill Falco for his mother, never would've thought he'd do that first couple of seasons. Honestly, everybody, and I mean everybody including the main cast has done some real messed up things. The truth is morals get easily muddled in an anime like this, and like I said, it's hard to agree or say you understand the actions of this anime without seeming foul.

All in all, without genocide or murder, everyone from paradis island was going to die. One thing I will say is Erin doing this may eliminate the enemy but it won't take away the racism or distrust. If anything, given anyone survives, which humans always do, this will only add fuel to the fire and be an even greater reason for future wars. History will always come back, whether it's scrambled or not. It's honestly such a tough decision to make and nobody should be able to play dolls with other's live's but Erin was literally given that power, something that was forced upon him. Now the entire Grisha thing with time travel and Erin influencing Grisha's decisions is too much to go into full detail about.

One thing I will say is I don't understand it. How would Erin influence Grisha to take the power of the founding Titans and give it to Erin if in the original timeline when Erin didn't have those powers? Time travel is always confusing. What I'm basically getting at is there's one original timeline in which Grisha stole the founding Titans and gave it to Erin, triggering a bunch of things to happen. Yet it's said that Grisha never wanted to steal the founding titans because of moral reasons but was influenced by future Erin. What I'm saying is how is there a future Erin who has the founding Titan's power in the original timeline in which Grisha never would have given it to him? I get the whole the past, present, and future all coexist as one or whatever, but this just perplexes me.

It's like you never get pregnant but your future child does something that gets you pregnant with them. How is it possible for a child that has yet to exists in a timeline, be able to trigger events that leads to it's existence? How can a power that was never going to be given to Erin in the original timeline be used by Erin to get him his powers? Maybe I read the situation wrong, but that's what I got from it. Well this has been a messy whirlwind of thoughts. I'll go into a more deeper and organized opinion of this show next time. Until then, please don't commit genocide or any kind of non-consensual violent acts.
