Innocent Until Proven Guilty

As Zac got back up to his feet, he could hear two new sets of footsteps behind him. Zac glanced over his shoulder to see Elder Baston stepping up from beside the masked interim lord.

Elder Baston spoke up, "What's going on here?! And why are you four standing against each other?"

Chowan replied, "We just defeated two masked men who caused all of this. I attacked this masked man because I thought he was an accomplice, which I now see may not be the case."

Baston turned to look at the masked interim lord, keeping a stern but concerned expression in front of the jumpy citizens. "Aren't these masked men under your command?"

"That depends," Zac answered for the masked lord, holding up two badges. A badge that the people instantly recognized and a badge that Elder Baston recognized based on everything he'd heard about, startling the elder just enough to keep Baston from shouting back at the masked man.
