Nadon showed a brief yet confident grin. "Of that I'm sure. Anyone that dares to underestimate him will pay the price. Though I doubt the enemy will do that, the synergy between you and him would be hard for me to fight, so I imagine the Briston commanders won't fair much better.

"And with the pairings settled… I think all that's left is waiting for the time to strike."

Suddenly, there was a sense of foreboding regret in Nadon's tone. No one commented on it, but it was too obvious for the intelligent members of the Frantoch Council to not notice. 

The masked man in charge then asked, "Is there anything else to discuss before we dismiss?" 

Baston raised his hand. "May I meet with you in private, Interim Lord?"

A bit surprised and very suspicious, the masked man shook his head. "I'm sorry, but there are other matters that I have to handle immediately after this. But I can meet with you after that if you wish."
