Chapter 9: Guardian Angel?

After entering Juliet's house Duke's doubt was cleared that Juliet was not the mother of Lisa...he internally heaved a sigh of relief.

Duke was unaware of the cause behind his action though still he was releaved...

(Next day)

Juliet was working on her desk when Duke entered with a coffee mug in his hand. He placed that on her table...."Thank you" Juliet said in response of his action. Duke bowed and went back to his work.

Juliet asked Duke to go first today for packing his all belongings to move in her house...so today Juliet was going to get back home all by herself.

She went to the parking zone to get her car. Juliet was getting a clear picture of what happened two months ago....she had her keys on her hands but her palms were sweating. With shaky hands she pulled the car door of the driver's seat. She sat inside. She was getting thr vivid memory of that incident.... she was sweating badly... Her throat felt dry.. her breathing got heavier.

"I can do it" Juliet said to herself to gain self confidence. She buckled up the seatbelt and started the car. Due to break failure they had that accident. Before Juliet could make it to the main road she pulled the brakes and her car stopped with a screech sound and heavy jerking.... In her ears only one sentence was ringing."Ma'am the breaks are not working!! The car is going to crash..!!"

"Mr. Park!!!" Juliet mumbled... She was in the same seat as Mr. Park after 2 months... She droopped her head on the steering and trying to grasping for the air... Her breathing got hitched and the noises around her became fade.... She couldn't hear anything properly except only his voice. "Ma'am the breaks are not working!! The car is going to crash..!!" Juliet's vision got blurred with tears.... immense pain was bursting in her head....



"Ma'am!!!! Ma'am!!!! Ma'am!!! Open the car window!!!" A hand was eagerly hitting on the car window and Juliet's senses repeatedly....she couldn't recognise the owner but she felt like the voice was her 'last straw in this vast ocean of pain'. She raised her head and looked at the window.... She unlocked the door....after a moment of silence she uttered "Duke....." It was a whisper that she managed to say before fainting and sliding down outside of the car.

Duke caught her from falling. She was unconscious...but her feared face became natural as soon as she slid down on Duke's arms. Duke slapped lightly on her cheeks two-three times but she didn't respond... without knowing it himself, Duke was worrying for this woman. He then picked her up in his arms and placed her on the back seat....he splashed water drops on her face to make her open the eyes. Duke checked her breathing but she wasn't breathing.....Duke was shocked..."Hey!!! Open your eyes....wake up....you can't die like this....wake up first..... Juliet..... Juliet.... Juliet!!!!"

Duke shake her with all his forces but still her breathing wasn't coming back so he saw no other choice but CPR. He started giving her CPR....he made his mind to give her artificial breathing.... He was not ready to accept she was dead. Duke lowered his head and opened her mouth with both of his hands. Duke was just inches apart from her lips when the hot breathing hit Duke's cheek....."you started breathing!!!"Duke exclaimed in sudden movement of her.... Duke raised his head and Juliet opened her eyes after some minutes.

"Are you alright!?" Duke asked her in a concerned tone. Juliet was getting her conciousness back slowly so she just noded in response. Then he helped her to get up and sit properly.

"You are here!?" Juliet asked Duke like a whisper.

"Actually I forgot my phone in the office so I came back and saw you were off already... I was passing by the parking lot I saw your car getting started but stopped after some seconds.... I came to check on it and the rest was all of this." Duke answered honestly.

"Thank you Duke..... doctors told me that I might have the panic attacks due to that accident so I shouldn't drive for a while.. for that reason I was traveling in cabs until you came. But today, I asked you to take a leave first so....."

Juliet's words were cut by him..."I'll take you home first" Duke said and went to the driver's seat.

Duke started the car to head towards her home...she was sitting there in silence and looking at him without blinking....she felt a strange warmth around her after a long time...her heart was beating in pace...she was thinking of the past incidents....

from the last car accident he rescued her....on the graveyard she was not alone either..... then he became her personal secretary....and now this once saving her out of the blue.....a small smile curved on her lips....she started feeling safe around him each time now. She was again thankful to him.

The car reached her house and Duke opened the door for her to get down. Juliet stepped down and looked at him.

" Thank you Duke....you saved me once more... I owe you two times now" after a pause she said..." Now that I think about it....  It's like you are my Guardian Angel.... always saving me from the life threatening events." Juliet laughed on her own words and started walking towards home.

Duke's heart skipped a beat...he mumbled "She thought I am her Guardian Angel....?"
