Evolution of the Last Nyre

This is the story of a 30 year old dead beat who unexpectedly dies. He's given a new shot at life but something doesn't feel right...wait HE'S A MONSTER! Our mc is one who seeks power but he wasn't always like that. Sphar (correct pronunciation is s-far) is an ancient forgotten monster called a Nyre, which is quite similar to a bat. He's gifted a system and completely abuses its power like all mc's do. This story is very slowly paced as I don't want to rush it. Time skips won't happen too often and if they do it won't be for long. His greatest desire is to explore the world, or at least it was..., but escaping his home will be a bit more tricky than he thought. Luckily his species is perfect for covert operations. Let the adventure begin! Authors note- I'm an inexperienced writer and I'm only doing this for fun. The story has a very slow start and the chapters are only 1.3k to 1.5k words long. I don't plan on locking chapters ever but if you want to support me, gifts are greatly appreciated. My release time will be a complete mess as this is only a hobby but I hope you enjoy the story. Btw the cover art is not mine, if you own it and want me to change it please don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me on Insta, my user is Bandit_Candit

'THAT'S PERFECT! That would be the perfect class for me! Now I just need to get there one day. Alright, that settles it, I'll try to round my stats out a bit more but stick with agility and intelligence being my highest stats. Strength, vitality, and dexterity should be even between the three. I then put one point into agility making both agility and intelligence even at 14 and then I put one point into vitality and another in strength leaving those two and dexterity all at 9. I saved my remaining 3 attribute points for another time.

On that note, it's about time I get back to farming, but I'll take things slow now. I'm no longer angry.

[QUEST]

Slay 25 slimes before the sun rises. Rewards: 500 exp, 3 attribute points.

'That makes things a bit easier for me.' I got up and flew back down from the tree I've become so familiar with and made my way over to a different hill with more slimes just rolling around. 'There's no end to these things.' I spent the rest of the night killing slimes. Stabbing into the mushy texture over and over until it felt completely natural. The entire night all I was thinking about while killing these slimes was how cool I would look to be both a mage and a stealthy rogue. A passing thought I had during the night was that farming slimes is an easy source of exp but it's so boring. I'd rather have to work for it but then again I was glad I didn't have to risk my life. This and my future class is all that went through my mind. With my slow pace of killing, I never had to take a break as my stamina wasn't dropping but it also wasn't regenerating. Stabbing and stabbing, shattering, and shattering until finally.

'Man I'm really hitting an exp curve. If it takes me, someone with a system that multiplies my rate of growth several times faster than others, this long to level up it must take a lot of time and work for others to level up. Not to mention skills. Maybe I should move on and try to find a stronger place to farm. Surely there are better dungeons around here somewhere.' It was then I decided to depart from this slime dungeon that I had tortured so much. 'I'm sorry little guys, the rest of you can roll around in peace now.' I then set off on my journey to find a better dungeon. I flew into the air and scouted the area but only found natural wildlife. 'I should probably circle the mountain and see if there's anything on the other side.'

As I flew around in the air I felt kinda sad I had to leave that peaceful little valley but I was causing a lot of ruckus for the animals that lived there and it was still quite close to my actual home and I shouldn't stay around there for too long. It would probably be best if I completely leave this mountain range and go somewhere far off in the distance. It sounds good but in all actuality, there's a huge chance of finding nothing for days and me dying from dehydration if I can't find a freshwater source or running into something much stronger than me. 'I can't make any progress if I don't take any risks.'

I continued circling the mountain until I found a little village not on this mountain, but behind another not too far from here. It consisted of tiny brown shacks made of what looked like a mix of wood planks, sticks, and dead grass but I was quite high in the air so it was hard to see. 'If that's a human village maybe I can find some equipment to help me fight!' With the rushing excitement of getting stronger once more, I flew over to the little village without hesitation. As I was nearing the village something kept telling me that my first estimate was wrong. I stopped for a better examination while still flying in the air, just closer now.

'Those huts are quite small and poorly built, I don't think a human would fit in those. That means...it has to be goblins! Though they probably don't have much gear it would still be a good farm!' I resumed my descent and landed in the woods around four hundred feet away. I used [Morph] and turned into a goblin so it would be easier to scout around in the village in search of valuables while not having to take on an entire horde of goblins. 'I'm not confident I can handle that many enemies even if they are just goblins.'

As I entered the village the goblins didn't seem to suspect anything but something even more strange has taken my attention. 'The dungeon name never popped up, is this not a dungeon? That means there's a difference between a regular goblin village and a dungeon consisting of goblins. Is it because there's no boss? Bosses must only exist in so-called dungeons, that has to be the difference. I can't think of any other logical reason...man this is confusing.'

I continued walking around and examining every hut. The village only had 20 or so huts and there was never any sign that some sort of boss resides here. 'My earlier hypothesis must be correct. Either that or the boss isn't here right now but I don't think a boss would be able to leave their territory but as I said earlier, this is all pure speculation. I hate being uninformed of basic information.'

I started walking back to the outskirts of the village on the dirt harden ground void of any sign of life that once existed. I entered a goblins hut and it looked at me with a confused expression. Before it could even say anything I canceled my morph ability and thrust my hand in its chest and pierced its heart. I immediately ripped it out and sliced its throat so it couldn't scream for help before its final moments, the blood-splattered wall confirming my actions.

'So the system considers anything outside of a dungeon to be wild.' I wiped my hand clean in the trough filled with water and walked out of the hut when it was clear. 'Since this is the outskirt of the village it will be pretty deserted. I'll slowly work my way in.' I darted to the next nearest hut and two goblins were examining a dagger, seemingly worshiping it even though it had seen some wear. They didn't seem to notice me as they were infatuated with the weapon that they must've found or stolen. 'I'm positive they didn't make that. Every weapon I've seen around until now were all wooden spears.'

I darted behind the one holding the dagger and it only now noticed me. It ducked and rolled out of the way and was now taking a battle stance next to the other goblin without the dagger. I didn't give them a chance to fully recover as I struck out at the goblin without the dagger. It seemed to be too scared to move as its final moments were spent wide-eyed with tears forming. I ripped a huge gash across its face and before it could scream I used my wings to speed up my momentum turning to the left, as I had swiped with my right arm, and used my foot's claws to finish the job as I struck even deeper into its face and part of its neck. Blood spurted out all over me and the other goblin as the other fell to its grave.

He didn't just stand and watch, however. As I was most vulnerable after that attack, he must've noticed as he thrust his dagger at my stomach while I was upside down in the air with my right arm and left leg stuck out due to my reckless attack before. I retracted my left arm and neglected the attack from hitting any vital organs. I landed on my feet and we both jumped back to opposite sides of the tent.
