Evolution of the Last Nyre

This is the story of a 30 year old dead beat who unexpectedly dies. He's given a new shot at life but something doesn't feel right...wait HE'S A MONSTER! Our mc is one who seeks power but he wasn't always like that. Sphar (correct pronunciation is s-far) is an ancient forgotten monster called a Nyre, which is quite similar to a bat. He's gifted a system and completely abuses its power like all mc's do. This story is very slowly paced as I don't want to rush it. Time skips won't happen too often and if they do it won't be for long. His greatest desire is to explore the world, or at least it was..., but escaping his home will be a bit more tricky than he thought. Luckily his species is perfect for covert operations. Let the adventure begin! Authors note- I'm an inexperienced writer and I'm only doing this for fun. The story has a very slow start and the chapters are only 1.3k to 1.5k words long. I don't plan on locking chapters ever but if you want to support me, gifts are greatly appreciated. My release time will be a complete mess as this is only a hobby but I hope you enjoy the story. Btw the cover art is not mine, if you own it and want me to change it please don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me on Insta, my user is Bandit_Candit

- Infiltration 2

'I can win, but the real question is what will he do? He could attempt to run, or scream to alert the others. He could try to kill me solo, but he seems to be an experienced goblin and understands the situation as much as I do. Damn, I'm at too many disadvantages. There just had to be two goblins in this shack, and with a weapon too!'

The goblin once again dashed at me with speed just under mine. I jumped above him and struck at him with my claws but he seemed to expect this as he side stepped and jumped with the dagger to slice me. I flapped my wings as hard as I could and I flung myself out of his reach but into a bench pretty hard.

Before I could get back on my feet he was already charging at me again. I picked up the bench and threw it at him and to my surprise it worked! He was knocked back a few feet which gave me plenty of time to recover. I darted at him once more as he threw the bench to the side as rage seemed to slowly consume him. He was ready to counter my attack but I feinted and used my other hand to sling dirt into his eyes. As he was temporarily blinded I rapidly stabbed and swiped at his chest till his torso was nothing but ground meat. He fell to his knees, admitting his defeat and I didn't hesitate to take his life scared it was some sort of trap. I sliced his throat and he fell over into the dirt on the opposite side of the shack from where his friend was.

The fight caused quite a ruckus but thankfully this hut was decently far from the others around the outskirts. I layed down as I needed to take a break, my stamina wouldn't last much longer at this pace. Afterward, I covered the dead bodies with some dirt to delay the scent that would be approaching soon from the corpses. I walked over to the dagger and examined it and suddenly a blue window appeared above it.

'I won't use this for now as it will probably break before my evolution. I'll save it for then, plus I'm not used to fighting with anything besides my claws yet, and now is not a good time to practice with something new.' I walked out of the shack and prepped myself for the next encounter. I walked to the next shack and peeked open the curtain to see another pair of goblins, however this time they weren't just having casual conversations if you catch my drift. I backed away, astonished by the unexpected event but quickly regained my train of thought. I walked around to one of the four main pieces of wood holding the hut up as a base. I knocked it over and quickly ran to the others to repeat the process till the hut collapsed into itself. It didn't kill the goblins but it seemed to heavily injure and trap them. I walked over to the two naked goblins and stabbed them both in the hearts. 'I'm sorry my guy.'

Backing away from the collapsed hut, a passing goblin saw me and immediately ran to the center of the village screaming words that made no sense to me. 'It seems we speak different languages. I should've expected that, to be honest. Anyways I can't stay here any longer. I need to retreat or I'll die, I've only killed around a quarter of the goblins at most.' I immediately retreated to the direction where I started my onslaught and flew over the fence. I ran to the woods and caught my breath. 'They'll be on alert for the next day or two. I'll have to pick them off one by one when they separate from one another. I'm determined to bring this village to its end and steal whatever loot they have.'

I waited until the sun started setting, closing the curtains on yet another day. I used [Morph] once again and snuck my way back into the village. I found all the goblins gathered together at the center of the village with their spears. Although there was no boss, there was one goblin surrounded by female goblins constantly making advances on him in the center of the group. 'That must be their leader, I wonder what makes him qualify for being their leader. In my clan it was age, maybe it's strength here? Or it could also be intelligence...Pondering this matter won't let me accomplish my goal of killing them all any faster. Or maybe...'

I waited until two goblins left the group to go use the restroom. I snuck up behind one as the other split up to handle its business elsewhere. Still in my transformed state, I equipped the dagger and thrust it through its back, piercing its lung. I pulled it out and stabbed once more on the other side of its spine to speed up the process. 'I said I wasn't going to use it yet here I am.'

I dragged its body to the nearest hut after unequipping the dagger and kicked up dirt to cover up any blood that was left behind. I walked back and the other goblin had returned with a sleepy expression. I nodded at him, hoping he would understand the expression, and we walked back to the main group together. I separated from him and sat close to the leader and all his women. It was night by now so he didn't notice me, that and the fact he's quite preoccupied made it easier.

I sat there and waited till nearly all of the goblins were asleep except for the few still on guard duty. I quietly got up and walked over to the nearest guard. There were four and they were all on opposite sides of the group looking outwards which made it quite easy to sneak up behind them. I canceled my transformation and one after another I slit their throats and stabbed their hearts to quickly take them out, making sure not to wake up any of the sleeping goblins.

After handling the immediate threat, I started killing every goblin that was spaced far out enough from the others that if they squirmed after their throats were slit they couldn't alert the others. I eliminated another 8 goblins this way. Since I first entered this village I have eliminated 17 goblins, and I was getting quite close to leveling up.

'Finally, I was wondering when I was going to get a quest.' I then stopped to examine the situation. 'I've killed every goblin I can that isn't likely to wake the others up, equaling nearly half the village. I still can't take that many goblins head-on so that only leaves me with one risky choice. I'll have to kill their leader. Hopefully, the rest will give up if they see that their leader and half of their friends and family are dead.' With my next plan being confirmed, I walked around all the sleeping female goblins and stopped over the leader. I raised my claws in the air, the light from the moon reflecting off the red bloodstained weapons as if coating them in an icy cold embrace, encouraging me to continue my actions.

*SHICK*

His eyes shot wide open as he flailed about trying to understand what's happening but I didn't let him as I used my other claws to stab his eyes. With this he finally screamed, waking every goblin around up just as planned. I then slit his throat and stabbed it several times so I could rip his head off. All the goblins that were once asleep were now all panicking as they saw dead bodies all around and their leader being killed.

"AAAAHHHHHHHHH" I screamed as I ripped the leaders head off its body. I held it up in the air to display the bloody and meaty mess that was once a face. The goblins seemed to have frozen in fear. 'This is perfect'. I threw it on the ground and looked at everyone individually one at a time, making sure they stayed scared. I walked around everyone and drew a circle large enough to fit all the goblins in and firmly pointed towards it. They seemed to get the idea as they all huddled in together.
