Evolution of the Last Nyre

This is the story of a 30 year old dead beat who unexpectedly dies. He's given a new shot at life but something doesn't feel right...wait HE'S A MONSTER! Our mc is one who seeks power but he wasn't always like that. Sphar (correct pronunciation is s-far) is an ancient forgotten monster called a Nyre, which is quite similar to a bat. He's gifted a system and completely abuses its power like all mc's do. This story is very slowly paced as I don't want to rush it. Time skips won't happen too often and if they do it won't be for long. His greatest desire is to explore the world, or at least it was..., but escaping his home will be a bit more tricky than he thought. Luckily his species is perfect for covert operations. Let the adventure begin! Authors note- I'm an inexperienced writer and I'm only doing this for fun. The story has a very slow start and the chapters are only 1.3k to 1.5k words long. I don't plan on locking chapters ever but if you want to support me, gifts are greatly appreciated. My release time will be a complete mess as this is only a hobby but I hope you enjoy the story. [LEVEL UP]

The familiar message stating the rise in stats and bonus attribute points as well as the skill point greeted me as I had finished off yet another boar. 'I'm almost done with the easy part of this quest finally.' I unequipped my sword and flew up to rest on a tree for a while. 'I'll check the trail in a bit as the sun is already setting. For now, let's check these stats!' I was quite excited to periodically check up on my progress no matter how small the increase was.

'Only one more level and I can become a mage!' The impatience urged me to farm even harder but I needed to take a break. If something unexpected were to happen as I am right now I'm not sure I could escape even being able to fly. Now that I think about it my wings are my best feature. I rely on them for nearly everything, who knew being able to fly would come in handy so much in almost every situation.' I

got up and flew out of the dungeon and landed on the ground just outside of the forest line. I walked over to the road and no fresh tracks were present. 'Still no travelers, this must not be a very safe road. Or maybe wherever they go aren't very rich places.' I walked back to the dungeon and waited about an hour before hopping back into the action.

The further I got into the dungeon the more dense the area was with boars. 'I should be careful not to walk too far in.' I ran into two boars who were sleeping together. I slowly approached and noted the best place to stab one before fighting the other. I flew high into the air to practice my reckless charge.

I descended to the earth as fast as a meteor as gravity did most of the work and I thrust my sword forward right into the boar's heart with all the momentum I had built up. I let go of the sword and rolled a few feet before getting up and running back over to get my sword.

[Hp -9]

'Still needs work.' The other boar had woken up from the loud noise and was preparing to Charge at me. 'I'm gonna try the other move of mine. I would be more suited to using either a rapier or a dagger for my fighting style. Maybe even a scythe if I could use my wings for long periods in fights.' The boar was making its destructive way towards me as I surpassed its speed in charging, preparing for the maneuver. 'Thrust!' I used the sword to pierce right through its head.

I examined my sword and it had gone down to 4 durability. 'Man these weapons won't last longer than a couple more days at this rate. I need to stop relying on them so much. Not until I make it to human civilization and can afford better gear.' I put my sword away and prepared to get innovative with my claws. 'If I can't easily pierce through their hide I only have two options. 'Target the same spot repeatedly, or rely on scratching them and letting my poison take effect. Both are very time consuming but I should manage.'

I walked a little further from the deeper part of the dungeon as I didn't want to fight two boars at once. 'Once I build up a decent amount of attribute points I'm going to raise my strength and vitality a bit more than my dexterity. Why can't I just make up my mind on my stats build. I already know what I want to become. I just don't want to leave some stats too far behind but a balanced build limits my potential. I hate dilemmas.'

I found another boar trying to peacefully sleep in the night, however, I wasn't kind enough to wait for it to wake up for a fair fight. I walked up to it and tried to pierce the side of its stomach ad hard as I could but I only drew a little blood. It immediately woke up and tried to headbutt me.

I jumped back and let it get up to charge at me just like all the others. 'These guys are one-trick ponies.' I jumped to the side and stabbed at the same place once again and this time I cut decently deep into the muscle, it still wasn't enough to kill it though. It squealed loudly as it turned around to dash once more. I repeated the process two more times until it died.

'Alright, that's the 20 boars I needed to kill. Now I just need to kill the boss to get the easy experience. I'll wait till I hit level 10 to attempt that.' I was about to walk away as I noticed a dagger laying beside the boar. I walked up and examined it.

[Boar Tusk Shortsword E]

An uncommon weapon dropped by boars. It can also be crafted using boar tusks. A weapon suited for rogues. Durability 20/20

Strength +12

Vitality +12

'This is amazing! Did the boar drop this???' I asked while praising the small sword that would boost my strength by a huge amount.

[Yes. That is one of two pieces of equipment these boars drop.]

'That's good to know. I wonder how much this would sell for. Well, I'm gonna be using it so selling it is out of the question.' I immediately equipped it and felt the boost in strength and vitality flow through me. 'The jump from ranks is noticeably large. I wonder how large the gaps are for higher ranks.' I turned around and started walking deeper into the dungeon. 'Change of plans, the boss dies tonight.'

I was confident that my boost in stats was enough to handle the boss. Worst case scenario I could also equip either my sword or dagger in my other hand for another boost in stats and hp. I found another pair of two boars sleeping as I was venturing deeper into the perilous woods.

I dashed to the boars and easily stuck the shortsword inside the first boar's guts. I ripped it out and slashed its back just to make sure it was out for the count. As the other boar was getting up I pierced its neck, killing it instantly.

'This is so much easier.' I started darting around the woods killing every sleeping boar I found until finally.

'Can I get a summary of the usual roles of each element? I don't want to make my choice until I know what most of my skills will be.'

[Light magic is typically a support element that can heal at unnaturally fast speed and give boosts to stats.

Fire is an aoe and dot element that focuses purely on damage and a few stat-boosting spells

Water is an all-around element that has a bit of everything.

Earth is typically a defense and dot element.

Wind is usually used for single target attacks and purely focuses on attack and speed.

Lightning is a high damage element with a mix of aoe and single target skills with after effects. It also has stat-boosting skills.

Darkness is an all-around element that has a bit of everything.]
