Evolution of the Last Nyre

This is the story of a 30 year old dead beat who unexpectedly dies. He's given a new shot at life but something doesn't feel right...wait HE'S A MONSTER! Our mc is one who seeks power but he wasn't always like that. Sphar (correct pronunciation is s-far) is an ancient forgotten monster called a Nyre, which is quite similar to a bat. He's gifted a system and completely abuses its power like all mc's do. This story is very slowly paced as I don't want to rush it. Time skips won't happen too often and if they do it won't be for long. His greatest desire is to explore the world, or at least it was..., but escaping his home will be a bit more tricky than he thought. Luckily his species is perfect for covert operations. Let the adventure begin! Authors note- I'm an inexperienced writer and I'm only doing this for fun. The story has a very slow start and the chapters are only 1.3k to 1.5k words long. I don't plan on locking chapters ever but if you want to support me, gifts are greatly appreciated. My release time will be a complete mess as this is only a hobby but I hope you enjoy the story. Btw the cover art is not mine, if you own it and want me to change it please don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me on Insta, my user is Bandit_Candit

'This is insane! Such a huge increase just from choosing a class! I can't imagine the boost I'll get when I evolve!'

I checked my class skills page and saw I had two skill trees, one for each element. The base of the tree was the element itself and the first branching paths were two skills for each tree. Each skill only cost 1 skill point to learn.

My options were [Electric Field] Which made an area of 15 feet around me slow down enemies by 5% and costs 25 mana to cast and lasted 2 minutes, [Thunder] Which was a single target skill that did damage based on my Intelligence and stunned the target for 0.5 seconds which cost 25 mana, [Dark slash] That did damage based off of my Intelligence and absorbs 5% of the damage done to restore my choice of hp or stamina and it also cost 25 mana, and finally [Dark Cloak] Which negated 5% of every form of damage and only stayed active if I steadily supplied mana to it which was currently 1 mana per second.

'These skills have so much potential! What is the requirement to rank up to the second form of mage choices?'

[You must level up the first set of skills a total of 10 times for both elements. A skill can only be upgraded to a maximum level of ten.]

'So it's going to take me twice as long to reach my next class because I have two elements? I would complain but I think the benefits will outweigh the negatives.' I bought every skill, leaving me with only 2 skill points left which I chose to save for the time being. I'll need to increase my mana pool if I want to last more than just a minute or two in battle. How can I do that?

[There are four ways. One is to drink mana increasing potions made by rare fruit found in dangerous dungeons. Two is to wait till you hit rank 2 mage where you will receive another large amount of mana. Three is to just level up and get the increase of 10 mana as you are now a mage, your mana increase per level has raised as well as the increase of your stats. From now on your intelligence will increase by 3 and your other stats will increase by 2. You will also now receive 4 attribute points per level. Your stamina and Hp increase however will stay the same as the Mage class doesn't affect those. The fourth way is to get mana increasing gear.]

'So I'm screwed on mana for a while. That's disappointing. But since I have double the amount of skills a normal mage would have I can see why I would burn through my mana at a much faster pace. Alright, let's test these skills out on a couple of boars before fighting the boss.' I thought as I was extremely excited.

I hopped down from my tree and walked in a random direction not caring whether I was going deeper into the dungeon or not as I equipped my shortsword. I Soon found two boars laying side by side sound asleep. I got into a wizard-like stance and immediately got out of it as I looked incredibly stupid. 'So do I cast magic the same way I cast my trait skill morph?' I asked while trying the unfamiliar action.

[Yes. Just say the skill in your mind and it will cast. Chants aren't used in this world, however, there are some magic skills with long cast times in the higher ranks.]

'Gotcha. Let's do this!' I looked at the boar on the right as I cast [Electric field]. The cast time was instant and all of a sudden little sparks appeared in the air seemingly at random. 'That looks so cool!' I then cast [Thunder] on the sleeping boar and a literal thunderbolt appeared out of thin air and struck the boar, leaving a hole in its chest and burnt flesh all around it.

A huge boom sounded when the thunderstruck. 'Man, that was loud!' This scared the other boar but before it could do anything I cast another [Thunder] and it once again instantly killed the boar.

'This skill is really strong! But now I can only cast one more spell.' I walked away from the two burnt corpses and looked for some more boars. 'I definitely woke up every boar within a mile radius. I'll be sure to remember that skill is extremely loud in the future.'

After around 30 minutes of walking and watching my mana regenerate, I found out that my regeneration speed at the moment is around 2 mana per minute. I ended up running into 3 boars who were all huddled together, shaking. 'I now have enough to cast 3 spells, soon 4. So the question is should I use [Thunder] three times to be safe or should I try out my [Dark Slash] skill. I'll use thunder twice then experiment with the last boar.' I then cast thunder twice, once on each boar and they died on contact.

[You've received 259 exp for killing Dungeon Boar*2]

I then cast dark slash but nothing happened. 'Why didn't it work?'

[Dark slash only works when using something in a slashing motion. It can be your arm or a weapon.]

'I mean I guess that makes sense to some degree.' I then swung my shortsword and used [Dark Slash]. A black coat covered my weapon and left it as it flew towards the boar at a pretty fast speed. It landed on its side and cut right into its stomach, a clean-cut as its organs started sliding out of Its stomach as it fell over and died.

I set the energy to go towards my stamina for the time being as my Hp is full. 'It's strong, but I like thunder more even though it is loud. I'm making quick work of these boars now. I can't believe I was struggling to kill these guys just a couple of hours ago. Class advancements are huge leaps in power for sure.' I climbed a tree and laid there for a bit as I played with my new shortsword and admired my magic skills.

'I'm going to fly around and kill as many boars as I can without using any magic until I clear out most of this forest. Then I'm going for the boss!' I got up and flew high into the air. It was hard to see past the leaves on the top of the trees but there were enough gaps to make the effort of scouting worth it.

I then saw 2 boars sleeping together next to a tree around 100 feet to my right. I Darted over as fast as I could as I readied my favorite weapon these kind boars had given me. I slashed one deep in the side and stabbed the other three separate times before they could even react.

[You've received 266 exp for killing Dungeon Boar*2]

I darted around the forest looking for more boars to slaughter as my craving for exp had risen exponentially since my newfound strength. 'It will only become harder to level up from now on and the gap between ranks will only become larger, but I feel pretty confident that I can handle any monster under the D- rank in a 1v1 right now. I'm glad I chose the Mage class.'

I continued my killing spree until the sun rose and the next day had begun. My stamina was nearly empty and I had used my magic periodically even though I initially didn't want to scare everything away, at one point I just stopped caring. I had leveled up once and I was quite close to leveling up again.

All of a sudden I heard a huge rumbling sound coming from my left. I flew up in the air and on a clearing on a hill up ahead, which I assumed is the middle of the Dungeon, A giant red boar with huge red tusks was rampaging about knocking over trees and stomping craters into the ground.
