Chapter 32: Becoming the Hero of the College

After the Grand Sports Meet Competition Bharat had already become famous since he was one of the participants who won Gold medal for his college and brought Glory to his college.

He arrived at the college gate on an auto and saw Rahul and his groups who were on their usual routine of just chatting along the way before the start of the classes.

When Bharat arrived they saw him on auto and started discussing among themselves how ordinary Bharat was and how simple clothing he had so he did not deserve to be a part of their college since most of the students were from rich and influential backgrounds in GCU college.

Mary said: "Look how low standard this Bharat is as he is not even able to afford an ordinary car and had to use public transport to commute to his college and look at his clothing just a simple t-shirt and faded jeans he just does not deserve to be studying in this reputed college of ours. I do not understand through which angle he is suitable for this college and why he was selected in this college in the first place."

 Rahul who had become good friends with Bharat was also present there though he shared the same opinion previously however after Bharat won the Sprint Championship his point of view changed and he favored Bharat in this situation.

Rahul said: "I do not think that according to me though Bharat's living standard is ordinary however he himself is extraordinary otherwise he would not have won the Gold medal in the sprint competition and he has brought so much glory to our college. Didn't you see that the groups of students from the CU College were so arrogant in the beginning, however when Bharat was able to snatch the first place from Dennis this year the CU college students were all silenced."

Rahul further said: "It does not matter if he commutes through bus and auto and uses public transport daily to come to the college or if he wears simple clothes what matters the most is that he is a gold medal winning candidate and he is so good in sports and has brought glory to our college by winning this sprint competition. I am sure that he will bring more glory in the future to our college."

Mary was a bit surprised by the reaction and response which she got from Rahul since usually he supports her in whatever she does and does not say anything and this was the first time she was getting a negative response from Rahul.

Mary said: "Rahul! Why are you speaking to me in that way in front of everyone now? What happened to you earlier when I criticized others and you didn't stop me at that time?"

Rahul and Mary both were a loving couple though Rahul used to love Mary and did not used to stop her from criticizing people or bullying them earlier and even he used to participate in the deed himself but now he has accepted Bharat his friend from heart so he could not bring himself to be quiet when his girlfriend was criticizing his friend.

Rahul said: "Nothing has happened to me. I am the same Rahul that you know. It's just that my eyes had opened and I had started seeing the world a bit differently now."

Mary said: "But Rahul you earlier promised me that you will make Bharat leave this college anyhow."

Rahul replied to Mary and his group: "Mary and all my friends I will say this one last time the way you all are my friends. The same way Bharat has also become my friend and I do not like people to criticize my friends. So please do not criticize or say anything bad about my friends."

Mary and Rahul's group of friends were actually shocked after getting this kind of response from Rahul on this matter and especially Mary who was Rahul's Girlfriend. She felt like she was losing control over her boyfriend and had started to consider Bharat as her enemy.

Mary thought: "I will have to teach this idiot Bharat a lesson someday, how dare he try to turn Rahul against me."

After replying to his friends and strictly prohibiting them from bullying or mistreating Bharat he went ahead to greet Bharat.

When Bharat arrived after he had paid his auto ticket, Rahul stepped ahead and met him: "Hi Bharat! How have you been? After going home that day on the sports meet competition I never heard from you. Also I forgot to take your mobile number that day after all it was a long night with a lot of events. However, the first thing which we should do is to exchange our contact numbers."

Bharat replied to Rahul: "Hi Rahul! I am doing well. Sure please take my contact number."

After exchanging contact numbers they entered the college premises and met with their other friend Gaurav and were greeted by the latter and then many unknown students with whom Bharat had never acquainted himself with came up and greeted him and shook his hands.

Then, a lot of girls started to have thoughts about Bharat and were interested in speaking to him.

First girl said: "Hi Bharat! Congratulations for getting the first position in the Sprint competition."

Second girl said: "You have brought glory to our college. We thank you so much."

Third girl asked: "Hi Bharat! Would you like to go on a date with me?"

Then a boy came up and said: "Would you like to join our group, Bharat? You will be given the position of group leader, and we will be proud to have you in that status so that we can look up to you and emulate your performances in the future, bringing honor to our college."

So many students had covered up Bharat and wanted to make him a part of their group. Bharat was feeling like a celebrity however he did not know how to get out of this situation.

Seeing this scene Mary and her group of friends were getting more envious since they wanted Bharat to leave the College however they failed to drive him out however instead he had become like a Hero figure in their college.

Rahul said with a grin on his face: "Looks like our friend here has become a hero in our college just after being here for one week. I do not know what great deeds he will do in the future."

Gaurav was beside Rahul and said: "This is so unfair even I won first place in the swimming competition then why don't they ask me out and why are they only following Bharat."

Rahul said: "That is because in the sprint race the competition is tougher and it is followed by most of the people, however in terms of swimming competition everyone knows that the other two colleges do not have so much talent thus there was not much of a competition."

Seeing that Bharat was stuck, Rahul and Gaurav took Bharat and excused themselves to attend the class since they were already getting late for their first class.
