Chapter 26: The start of a new friendship

Gaurav came running towards him and embraced Bharat in a hug that was his new friend in GCU and congratulated him.

Gaurav said: "Congratulations my friend you really made me and the whole crowd speechless after this performance. The time when you fell down and got yourself hurt so severely we all thought that there was no way you could get back up and start running again. It seemed like a miracle that you not only got up and started running with blood all over your face but to straight away win the first place that was amazing. Not only had I but no one expected that you would help our college GCU become the champion of the sprint competition."

At that point of time Dennis and Rahul who were also the part of the race were in a trance and could not believe that someone else apart from them would take the first position for this year.

Dennis, who came second in the race, felt very disappointed and went back to the stands to his CU College dressing room to change without even saying a single word to Bharat.

As for Rahul who took the third position had become completely speechless since he never imagined in his wildest dream that it will be Bharat who will take up the first position in this race and he will lose to him out of all the people and now that he has lost to him it will be him who will have to run one round of the college while he was completely naked which will be a huge embarrassment for him or he has to leave college so out of the two option he has to choose the second one and leave the college and as for Bharat he was saved from the humiliation and will be able to continue his tenure in the college.

Rahul was from the same college as Bharat so he could not avoid Bharat so when both of them came face to face they had serious expression on their faces as they were the rival of each other however this time Rahul was beaten up by Bharat fair and square in the sprint competition and this was in the presence of the whole college which was recorded so he did not have any way out and had to accept defeat and just when he was going to acknowledge his defeat Bharat extended his right hand and smiled warmly to Rahul.

Bharat said: "Rahul you do not have to fulfill your condition of the bet by running naked or leaving the college let us be friends from now onwards."

Since Bharat has suffered so much to get admission into a college and had gone through so much hardship he also knew how he was feeling so depressed while thinking of leaving the college since the other choice was not acceptable so he did not wanted Rahul to suffer the same fate as himself since he was in a new college and did not know many people he could not afford any trouble and wanted to make as many friends as he could since it was always good to earn a friend rather than making enemies.

Rahul was surprised to see Bharat extending his hand for friendship which was unexpected. Earlier he would have never accepted Bharat as his friend but now things were different since Bharat has won this year's sprint competition championship so he had become famous in this college hence Bharat was definitely a talented person so it made Rahul think that it would not be so bad being friends with Bharat after all this guy was talented also Bharat was willing to spare Rahul to not fulfill his end of the condition to enable him to continue his tenure in this college.

Though his parents were rich businessmen of the city and had a lot of influence, he will be able to get admission in any of the colleges very easily, however still he would not like to leave this college since he had already made a group of friends and was very familiar here. So he decided to accept this hand of friendship from Bharat.

Rahul took his hand for a friendly shake and smiled warmly before replying: "Congratulations Bharat on taking the first position in this year's sprint competition and making our Grand Cultural University proud by becoming the champion. We should definitely celebrate this occasion as we have got the chance since we have won this championship after so long."

Rahul's friends Deep and Laxman were confused as to why their leader was behaving in such a friendly manner with Bharat after all even if Bharat has won the competition there was no proof of the bet right so Rahul can still ignore the conditions and continue being in this college so why the change in attitude.

Rahul congratulated Gaurav who won the swimming competition and said: "Congratulations Gaurav for winning this swimming competition you have also made our college proud."

Gaurav also congratulated Rahul on taking the third spot though it was not as prestigious as the first spot however that also brought a lot of glory to his college so he said: "Congratulations to you too Rahul for helping our GCU to get the third spot as well now this year our college was able to get two spots in the first three candidates of the sprint competition so we should definitely celebrate."

Since Gaurav was Bharat's friend and had also won the swimming competition so he had also become famous now in the college so Rahul decided to make friends with Gaurav as well.
