Chapter 24: Falling and then Getting up

Pallavi, Bharat's childhood friend, was, on the other hand, feeling conflicted because, while her current boyfriend was in the lead and expected to win, Bharat who was also Pallavi's ex-boyfriend, who also happened to be a member of their group of childhood friends, was in the last place and was trailing by quite a large margin; if he lost in this manner, it would be a humiliating defeat for Bharat. Pallavi felt bad because she knew full well that Bharat was not a sprinter and believed that he only entered this race to win her over. She just didn't know how to explain to Bharat that their current circumstances prevent them from being together.

Bharat suddenly felt a shard of glass pierce his heels, causing him to experience excruciating pain to the point where he lost control and fell to the ground. He felt like he was about to pass out as he hit his head on the ground, which caused him to bleed on his forehead as well.

The commentator said: "Wow, it appears that the last contestant, Bharat, was not only left behind but also hurt after falling down and beginning to bleed from his forehead. Ohh!! What an embarrassment to trip and fall in such a prestigious Sports Meet championship."

Bharat fell over and hurt himself, something Mary was thrilled about because it increased the likelihood that he would be humiliated and made it simpler for her to get him to quit college. She informed her friends this: "See, I've previously said that this man is such a scumbag that he can't even finish last in this athletic competition. He certainly has no place being at our college."

Gaurav who was Bharat's new friend in GCU thought "Oh No!! Bharat fell over now there is no chance of getting back into the competition for him. I already told him not to participate now. Not only he became the last contestant also it seems he will not be able to complete the race if that happens it will be such a humiliating defeat for Bharat. I cannot see this anymore."

Bharat felt excruciating pain as blood flooded into his brain when he fell over due to a shard of glass that got stuck on his feet and injured him on his head. It was obvious that he would eventually lose this raise because of how badly injured he was and how difficult it would be for him to recover in time for him to get up and win the race to beat Rahul.

The issue was that if he lost this race, as agreed upon by him and Rahul, he would be forced to do anything in the college which included to run naked or do something which will totally ruin his reputation and humiliate him which would prevent him from studying there any longer and likely force, him to leave the city as well. However, because he had already been turned down for admission to numerous colleges, he could not let this one opportunity to enroll in this esteemed institution pass him by. Even his family went to great lengths to relocate to a new place just for him to be accepted to a college, so he was under so much pressure that he was unable to relax himself.

He was feeling immense pain all over his body and when he felt his forehead with his bare hands he saw red blood all over his palm. Then he felt darkness engulf him as slowly everything in front of his eyes became black and he was aware that his consciousness was about the fade it had only passed a few seconds but it seems he has already lost as he asked himself in grief that is that it and was there no way to turn around the situation and was this the end of his career as well as he will be kicked out of the college if he lost this race and probably will not get admission in any other college.

Then as he was feeling such turmoil mentally he felt a bit of change in his mind and body as if something has shifted and then the darkness in front of his eyes changed into golden light, and everything appeared to be sparkling with the golden kind of light. Additionally, the pain he had been experiencing had vanished since, at that moment, he felt as though his entire body had turned numb and there was no pain also he felt exceptionally refreshed and energized as if he had not been injured at all though he could still see his injuries but there was no pain.

Since he did not feel any pain he decided to get up and continue the race as the other players has got ahead of him by a lot of margin by now and since this was only a 200 meter race it takes only 20 seconds to complete the race and ten seconds have already passed the rest of the players were already on the verge of completing the first lap and once the second lap was over the race will be over for good.

Bharat had a feeling that his body was as light as a feather and did not feel any pain so he started to run as fast as he could and soon started to catch up to the eleventh contender which was deep and took over him as the few people who saw this were surprised since most of the people were following the first three contenders as they were the key players who were expected to win medals.
